Why does Nintendo of the Big 3 always have to treat its consumers like children?

In the past 365 days we've seen a variety of Nintendo games get censored in some way. Xenoblade Chronicles X removed a slider changing the size of breasts. This slider in the original version had very normal sizes. Nothing cartoonishly large but hey, we can't have that. Nintendo thinks we can't handle it. Removing that was not only insulting to consumers, it was insulting to women. What's that? You want to make a character with small breasts like yours in a game that promotes making a character that looks like you? Nah. Middle finger to the face.

Fatal Frame 5. Bikinis gone because hey, Nintendo has to hold our hands and say "No, no, no. You can't handle that." Fire Emblem Fates. A mini game as silly as tapping men and women's faces completely gone.

Sony and Microsoft don't pull this. They don't just censor games simply because muh kids. If Nintendo didn't want these things to be experienced, why put them in the freaking game in the first place? These double standards need to stop. Let the consumer decide what they want. Don't pull this BS and make the decision for us. At least I don't have to worry about that on my PS4 games.

Because Nintendo uses a tablet gamepad. You can't have people spanking to anime boobs and bikini's and get their shloob corn swaggled all over the game tablet which will ruin it.

And MS and Sony do censor games, you don't see Jenna Jameson's virtual p0rn games on PS4 do you? No only PC's are truly uncensored.

Just anything outside of Japan, best thing you can do is learn Japanese good enough to able to understand and read then just get the Japanese versions of the system & games. :p

I don't even think the problem is Nintendo as much as it's just Nintendo of America. It's NoA I think lacks the kind if leadership needed to help things in their region, mainly in horrible publishing decisions.

Besides, kind of funny that Nintendo gets called out for treating their audiences like kids, when a good chunk of the critics on the internet who claim to "want" to like Nintendo are acting no better (see: petitions to boycott Federation Force, Cloud/Bayonetta from Smash, OUTRAGE over Bayo 2 being on Nintendo systems, etc)

@lamprey263: @onesiphorus: Yeah it's probably NoA making these decisions but they get the OK from the guys in Japan. This a problem from Nintendo as a whole.

This is a NOA/international issue, not a Nintendo only issue. If it was a Nintendo thing the concept of Breast Slider, Bikini Outfits and Bondage minigames wouldn't even be in the original games in the first place.

The sole reason why we're not getting an official Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 release while the other 2 games did is because of fear of a media backlash from Social Justice Warriors.

That's why International Releases of Nintendo games get censored so it'll be deemed "acceptable" to our own society.

How else are you supposed to treat an army of Mesome?

Seriously though, NOA sucks.

Nintendo has always been a lot more focused on presenting a 'family friendly' image than Microsoft and Sony. I'm going to go out on a limb and speculate that the items that were changed wouldn't be seen as problematic to a younger audience in Japan.

Basically Nintendo has spent a lot of time and energy trying to make sure that when parents see a Nintendo brand they can feel safe that it wont contain anything that little Jimmy shouldn't see.

Also this. Nintendo is not the gaming company equal to Seth MacFarlane, Parker/Stone, Donald Trump and Eminem where they can just be controversial and just ride off it (that would be Rockstar). Never have been and these past few gens have shown that they couldn't afford something like that.

If I'm going to play these games, I want to experience them in all their strange Japanese glory. The way it was meant to be. I don't want the "western devils" version!

Because they aim their products at children. Nintendo's priority is keeping a family friendly image and to do that they have to control content to keep it suitable for the kiddies. That's why you don't see voice chat standard because Nintendo is afraid children will hear foul language.
