Why does Sony keep failing this gen?

I don't understand why for their 3rd Holiday season, Sony is again falling flat on their faces. While the 360 has been trouncing the PS3, all Sony seems to do is promise stuff to their fans in good time.

I'm so glad I don't have to deal with disappointing holiday releases with the 360. The problem with the 360 is choosing which games to buy:

Fable 2
Banjo Kazooie
Viva Pinata Trouble in Paradise
Gears of War 2

Plus the best console versions of the top multiplats:

Fallout 3
Dead Space
Far Cry 2
Rock Band 2
Guitar Hero World Tour

The icing on the cake is that Microsoft is also giving us an OS upgrade with NXE. Featuring installable games, Avatars, Netflix, easier marketplace navigation, full 8-way native party system across all games & movies, and more.

I guess 'Teh untapped powah' will have to wait untill 2009, or more likely, beyond.

Best console multiplats? They're all the same nowadays. The only one that could be better is Rock Band 2, and that's because i have no idea when it's released for any other systems.

Guitar Hero world tour? You really think there's going to be a difference between the 360 version and the other ones?

Ok maybe you are over exaggerating a bit. I don't see how Song is falling on their faces this holiday season. They have some good exclusives coming out, they may not be as good as you might think but they are still good. I don't see the point of listing the multiplats either.Ragnarok1051

Its just disappointing because all they have is LBP and Resistance this holiday season. While LBP is going to be an awesome side-scroller w/ user generated content, its essentially an XBLA game on steroids. Great for a while, but fading rapidly over time due to it ultimately being a side-scroller.

Resistance on the other hand, is a very polished, albiet generic space shooter. Which is great if you are a PS3-only gamer who doesn't have the breadth of excellent shooters on the Xbox, but from a multiplatform gamer's perpective, quite lacking in originality and concept.

Ummm PS3 has Motorstorm, Socom, Resistance 2, and Little Big Planet all coming out this year. Next year the 360 has nothing while the PS3 has a whold bunch of games.

Your argument is worthless because you never bother to substantiate any of your claims. Please see my above post for examples. When you make claims, you need to cite sources to substantiate them. In other words, where are you getting your information?

Until you can provide the System Wars users with legitimate sources that definitively back up your claim that the 360 is receiving the superior versions of the games you mentioned, your "argument" will be worthless to all of us. As far as I'm concerned, you're just pulling those claims out of your backside. While you're at it, try pulling your head out, too.

they went from a 100m unit lead to their closest competitor to dead last playing catch up. they keep promising 10 years to not look bad but honestly no one will give a crap in 2016 about the ps3.

I rented MGS4, but I prefer Uncharted. I loved that game.

Motorstorm was alright, not very good for a bundle.

Warhawk was pretty cool.

And I'm really looking forward to inFAMOUS and LBP.

Hey Willie, why is it that you and all the xbox fanboys have to create these rediculous topics about 360 exclusives when everybody knows ps3 has the better lineup. I mean, come on, you actually added viva pinata and banjo. You might as well add eyepet if your goiong to put those on the list. And left4dead isn't even exclusive. Its comming out for PC. Even if you had a better line up(which you deffiantly don't) you wouldn't be able to play the games cause your xbox would ha rrod and take 6 weeks to get fixed while i am enjoying socom, resistance 2, motorstorm 2, and LittleBigPlanet. Ps3 is also having Killzone 2 and heavyrain next year. and most of the games you mentioned in multiplat run better on Ps3. So aside from the fact that the PS3 has a stronger holiday 2008 lineup that will easily match 360's, the PS3 has 2009 in the bag already. If PS3 only released those 5 games i just listed there, it would still be better than any dozens of games the 360 can spam out.

From Amazon, GameStop, Blockbuster, and GameCrazy, they're all putting RB on 10/21, so a little over a month after the 360 release is when the games and the bundles come out.

Well as long as none of those games get delayed (which I know some of them will) then I would say Sony has the best 2009 line-up so far. And your right that Microsoft hasn't annouced their line-up yet, but I don't think Microsoft would be able to match GOW3 and especially GT5 (Unless forza 3 comes out next year).

I have a ps3, the 60 gig version - purchased not but a few months after release.

For a long the ps3 has had few games i've enjoyed. As time goes by Sony's titles get better and better. For a time I wished I had bought a x360. I see a lot of biased opinions floating around, arguments without evidence to support claims, etc. I think they are both great systems. It sounds like Microsoft has worked out some of the old bugs with the system with its new Elite model and maybe even the pro (according to Gamestop employee). I like the sound of Gears of War, Mass Effect, Halo 3 even (though maybe not too much).

I've been looking at the x360 lately... I just can't justify spending $400 for the elite, $100 for the wifi adapter, then at least another $50 for one game (likely to be GoW). That comes out to be $550. I could save that money for new games releasing in the next 2 months for the ole ps3. October 21, Bioshock, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3 - wow! Those are some titles i've been wishing were on the ps3 for some time now.

Sony has not failed this generation's gaming community, they have in fact built a system with long term potential. Its short term has lacked high quality games. I did not enjoy Resistance (sorry all), I did like Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ratchet, CoD4, MGS4, Oblivion... when Sony has a good game its really good. When the system has a bad game, its really bad. Sometimes I wonder how some games get past the "Idea" stage, a few are ... ick. That is not the ps3's fault, that blame belongs to poor developers. I prefer to think that the ps3 has had a slow start - Microsoft put a lot of money into the system's launch and was fortunate enough to have some great game developers.

I think my decision to refrain from purchasing the 360 will pay off, but the wait continues. We seem to be getting awesome games in spurts - CoD4, MGS4. I think these are a preview of things to come. "Good things come to those who wait". Don't give up ps3 owners. I think we have good things in store. I just know if I buy the 360, as much as i'd like to, i know i'll regret spending all that money.

The ps3 hasn't failed, it has just gotten a slow start to which I believe will be a marathon where the 360 will eventually fall behind. Secretly I hope it does, i'm still trying to justify the $600 I spent to purchase this system all that time ago. With the price drop ... 80 gig, blu-ray, wifi, multimedia, games ... $400 - that is a great deal. The x360 can't beat that, they just have more games... quantity over quality? Meh - i prefer quality, that to me means the ps3.

I would not consider them to be failing in the Holiday battle. Although the hype and anticipation surrounding the 360's Holiday lineup is pretty high compared to the games on the PS3, there are quite a few quality titles that have been released for the PS3around the Holidays. ragek1ll589
