I am talking about people like Brian Ashcraft, NeoGAF and many others who constantly use an argument against the others but forgive Sony. When Vita was announced Sony swore every one of their studios would work on a Vita game eventually. They said they would not repeat their mistake with PSP and continue to support it. Once they were even quoted as saying it could get support for 10 years. I will take the high ground and say they were not talking about themselves supporting it. But why does it take a few forum posters or bloggers to call them? Why don't NeoGAF users? They love to beat Nintendo with a stick so why not Sony?

Sony is doing great with PS4 but they sit back and expect people to buy Vita without any sort of push. Nintendo have been losing money on Wii U but rather than sit around and do nothing they are investing in all the first and second party games they can get their hands on. People bash Wii U but Wii U owners have nothing to feel burned about. Third parties might not care but exclusives are always the best games anyway and Nintendo is absolutely delivering on this whereas Sony set a few B-Teams on Vita and when everything flopped they pulled the plug. The only high profile developer of their's that was on Vita was Media Molecule. How can people not feel upset with Sony? Why don't journalists put Sony on high ground during interviews? Brian Ashcraft is known to dog Nintendo about third party support asking "why shouldn't Nintendo owners worry about being burned again?" but I could ask the same about Sony. Why did they say every developer of their's would work on a Vita game and that never happened?

If Sony had made all their teams throw a Vita game at the wall before quitting I wouldn't be asking but they didn't. If a system is struggling you throw everything at it and remind people what they are missing. You don't contribute to it wasting potential.

I don't think the situation with the Vita is that bad.. surely i would love ND, Santa Monica Studios, GG, Sucker Punch etc to work directly on Vita games but there are still plenty of great titles available..

However I do agree that Sony should continue to focus on their handheld since its a great system and has so much potential !!

Yeah it's pretty hilarious, the mad cow disease has spread far and wide.

Just think of all the bashing MS got for apparently not supporting the 360. But I guess it's okay for Sony to do the same.

The media needs to have a device on the market that people rave about. THey know that a lot of stuff about the ps4 is crap. However, people jumped on the hype and ps4 took center stage. If you have read around recently you've likely noticed that the pc has been getting more attention from journalists--specific articles how to build, etc. They know this is the device to use now, but it is a risky thing to do because the general consumer might not understand the benefits or want the complications of the pc.

Sony did push the Vita, people just didn't buy it. Sony released games like Killzone Mercenary, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Tearaway, LBP, Soul Sacrifice, Gravity Rush, etc. These were actually pretty decent games with pretty decent production value. As per your point about Wii U - Nintendo has released some good 1st party games - but it's still at 7 million units after almost 2 years.

It's pointless taking on nintendo as far as handheld consoles are concerned, Nintendo has that market locked.

Actually all you gotta do to answer your question is open up some videos on the GS site. It almost always starts off with a Sony advertisement. Sony pays them. No one will bite the hand that feeds them and gaming sites are no different. Because of this they will love the PS4 and not say a word about the Vita. Everything Sony will be great and everything not Sony will be bad. And the trickle down effect is that it eventually corrupts the minds of the gaming sites fanbase.

Looking at the Xbox market and taking this all in, I say, it must be nice not to have a handheld on the market to support with 1st party titles. It should also save on any scrutiny from users since a handheld simply doesn't exist.

In fact, the distraction of a handheld should theoretically provide Xbox a huge advantage while Sony is distracted by having to support more machines. Nintendo cut the cord with the Wii, leaving only the Wii U and 3DS to worry about. Xbox just has the two home consoles. Less Xbox machines on the market should allow more 1st party retail games to be created for 360 and Xbone since Sony's got their eggs in too many baskets (Vita, PS3, PS4)...

For whatever reason though, we saw what's going on with the 360's end of cycle 1st party output (poor showing) vs. the PS3s major 1st party output (allowed the younger PS3 to catch up in exclusives). It's evidenced in the these last few years whilst Sony was supporting PSP and later the Vita. Funny how that all worked out.

As a gamer, I just want to see more games on the market. The more, and hopefully good, the better. I'm not into handhelds, but it's the Vita gets a pounding every week here in SW if that's what you are after. lolVita as they say.

Very great and very real questions you ask TC.

Sony for some reason is looked on as a savior. In reality they treat their fan base worse than Microsoft and Nintendo. Far worse.

The only thing that makes sense is that they pay for a lot of positive media. They are a company on the brink of collapse so all the positive news and anti negative news they must create.............

It is popular for most people to just praise Sony recently. The campaign is working, no doubt. Unless you are educated and know better, Sony will continue this as long as they can. As long as they feel they have the numb masses controlled and buying units.

Sony can't force third party developers to make games, and money hatting them isn't cost effective. All they can do is continue developing their own titles and hope there will be enough of a install base for other devs to bother.

The Vita just didn't sell enough to warrant major companies to develop games for it, you can moan and moan about how they said all the big developers would work on games for it, but if the install base isn't there, then there is no point in wasting resources on a piece of tech which not many have.

Sony were and still are struggling Financially, not mostly on games or consoles but there Tv's and other electronics aren't doing the business to fund the moneyfor Sony Playstation, which will be in a budget all by itself, I mean I'm guessing Sony main group gets all the money and then dishes out budgets for all there projects, It's hard times for everyone, but I think people forgive them more, because even tho there business focused and money driven, they are passionate gamers as well, and we see that in them, Unlike MS who you can tell most not all but most are just suits and speakers delivering lines off a script most of the time, plus MS go back and forth on policies and stuff they say all the time, and Nintendo for me are still stuck in the 90s. I'm not saying Sony is all goody goody, probably far friom it, but you can tell there passionate in what they do,.

The problem with the PSvita is everyone just treated it as a PS3 handheld port machine. Most folks who are the target audience for the PSvita already have a PS3, so what's the point in buying the Vita when there is an almost non existent number of AAA exclusives to get excited about? Gamers might as well just continue gaming on their PS3 instead, since most of the big name Vita games were just ports from the PS3 anyway.

Ding.

The rise of the smart phone shrank the handheld market significantly. Dumping money into a handheld at this point is just money being hemorrhaged that is best spent on consoles. Remember, the console market was supposed to be dead, too.

What I want to know is, why do people like the OP absolutely have to paint Sony as the bad guy when they are in a position to make the right call for their business to succeed. Want proof the handheld market is drying up? There's still NO XBox handheld to this day.

Gaming media is kind of weird. It is far more group-think oriented than other entertainment media. For that reason, it's hard to take seriously.

Stupid thread.

It's like asking why don't more media outlets bash the lack of Kincect dedicated games for xbox one since MS DROPPED it like a bad habit.

What's the point of bashing something that already isn't doing well? Companies have to invest money into the products and services people seem to want.

That is why PS4 gets more support than Vita and MS dropped mandatory Kinect add-on and support for the add on. Where are all the media hate reports on MS for dropping kinect support?

Stop being a fanboy crying about dumb shit. Vita gets about as much support as you'd expect for a system that is not doing that well commercially.

This must be the first sony platform never to get its own metal gear game. To me that speaks volumes.

They deserve a lot of shit for their abandonment of the Vita, it's just so dead the media seems to have forgotten about it. The rest of your post is crybaby/revisionist guff though, GAF and everywhere else bashed them for the awful early PS3 and PSN hack.

Because most of gaming media is nothing more than blind hype machines that think they have special entitlements just because they call themselves "journalists" when no one else does.
