If people could hook their PS3 to a regular pc monitor (mine is TRUE HD) then they'd and I would consider a PS3 but my $2000 pc monitor is all I have to run true HD on right now. THANKS MS.

Yeah it is but do you know that a lot of monitors do not support this function so a VGA would be very helpful for many people.

Well if your monitor is HDCP enabled all you need is a DVI/HDMI cable and if you paid $2000 for a monitor I'd sure as hell hope its HDCP enabled.

OMG i just noticed that, he paid 2000$ for a monitor wtf  it better has a HDCP if not then he is toasted. It would be way better to buy a Panasonic TX-32LXD70 LCD TV for a lower price and this is actually the best 32" LCD Tv on the markt.

Well they make HDTVs and probably just don't want to hurt their own market. Plus I doubt they made it capable of VGA output at a hardware level. You can always buy an adapter. I used this 1080p component to VGA adapter ($60 at x2vga.com) before I got a monitor that has DVI and HDCP.

MS VGA on the 360 is capable of 1080p. It will even allow DVD upscaling, which isn't allowed via component.

Probably because they want you to play in 1080p and HDMI which was/is a part of their marketing. Also they want you to play on HDTVs (preferably Sony ones of course)

Because then people would copy their Blu-Ray movies and the studios would flip a conniption. You can't get 1080p from a Blu-Ray device over anything but HDMI. It's part of the Blu-Ray requirements if I remember correctly. I may be wrong. All that DHCP and stuff.

Sony has a vested interest in HDMI just as much as they have one in Blu-Ray. HDMI is important to them. Why support a competing format (vga)?

VGA isn't that popular in home entertainment. The use of VGA connections is limited and probably not worth the cost in Sony's eyes. And yes, they the main feaure of HDMI is copy protection and I can't say I blame them. Piracy is rampant and these companies have a right to protect their property, be it physical or intellectual.

Why is there no HD cables of any kind included? Why is the controller charge cable 2 foot long? Why is there no rumble? Why did they not change the sixaxis to a more ergonomic design? Why is the new sku not have mem card ports or BC? Why have there been no true killer apps released? Why did they stick a Blu-Ray drive in it? Why? Why? Why???

Don't question Sony! It shows a lack of discapline, soon we will all know discapline and these useless questions will all go away!

Cant find any other relevant topics, so i'll post my question here...

Hi all, I have a HD TV - It has 1 HDMI, 1 component, 2 scarts and well other ports (Not important really) I currently have my PS3 plugged into the HD. And HAD my premium 360 in component, I am getting an elite now, but I want to have both consoles plugged in at once. Does the elite have component support?

I would like to have PS3 - HDMI, does the 360 need to plug into 2 ports? Component and Scart.

Could someone tell me the ideal connection setup please???

Buy an HDMI switchbox and it will solve your hookup problem.

if you paid 2000 for a monitor that does not have dvi or component then you got scammed.

you can use component red, blue, green wires to get 1080p as well.

I would mos def vote for the switchbox his 360 is HDMI and it when I switched from component to HDMI it was worth it. Btw, this is a bump from an ancient topic and I picture some poor guy that needs a tech question answered googles it and ends up in System Wars, lol.

the real professional pirates have already systems to copy bluray movies. the only ones that got screwed are ppl that want the media they buy legally in different formats.
