EA are great devs no matter what you say. Deep down you know it's true and even though you cuss them and call the devils you still buy there's games. So why don't ea make a console they would have loads of exclusives FIFA, Maddan, NBA, BF, MOH, ME etc There target aducineces is everyone so everyone would buy there console. Do you think ea will join the next gen? P.S inb4 I get called a troll.Fear-
What makes you think I would buy there games if it was exclusive... I would probably stop playing EA games and they would lose me as a custmer... I'm obviously not buying a EA box.
Why would they spend all that money to build a console when three other companies are already doing that?
[QUOTE="MonsieurX"][QUOTE="Fear-"] MS are already planning halo 7-9 so why notFear-Because the xbox actually has other games. Lol like? ea has more exclusive then Xboxlike... err.. um, GEARS OF WAR! YES! GEARS OF WAR! and err. um.. GEARS OF WAR! oh I have already said that one... Did I mention Halo? :P
Their business model is proliferation to the level of ubiquity. Making themselves exclusive to a console runs counter to that. charizard1605This, and isn't EA also bleeding money as it is? I would think that tossing out the idea of building a new console would cause their investors to have a collective heart attack.
No, only larger companies should do that sort of thing, which nullifies the risk of bankruptcy. Apple/Google, now those are definitely suitable candidates, although Apple is something I'd stay away from lol.
The closest would be the 3DO. Trip Hawkins was chairman of the board at EA. But, the 3DO was more like a private venture for him. The 3DO was a nice console at the time. But, it's launch price of $700 was laugh-worthy.
1 - EA are publishers, not developers. They buy studios that make great games and generally make them worse. That's one of the many reasons people dislike them.
2 - EA are a large company for a games publisher but compared to Microsoft they are microscopic. They don't have anything close to the means to compete with a company of that size hardware wise. Nevermind having zero experience in it.
3 - Console gaming is dying out, it will last another gen perhaps but nothing beyond that. There is no money in hardware sales really, it's all in the software, which EA are part of already. So what's the point?
That's why.
why dont everyone just a make console? how about that? even better.. lets have 20 consoles :| instead of 3

I don't think there's enough room in the market for a 4th competitor, I'm sure EA knows that.
Maybe if the market is widened next gen we could see Apple, EA or activisionBlizzard making a go at it.
I don't know who else is in a position to try though.
I agree, they have extremely talented developers. Unfortunaly they are not utilizing their artistic potential.
[QUOTE="Fear-"][QUOTE="MonsieurX"]They won't. Same games over and over only?MonsieurXMS are already planning halo 7-9 so why not Because the xbox actually has other games. So does EA, they have alot of franchises. At least as Many as M$ or sony

EA, Activision and Ubi could all make a own console.
Would it be viable for them?
No, because they have better sales on the existing systems and would likely have a loss on the hardware (unless we're talking about some cloud services or similar).

EA games are on xbox. EA don't have exclusives they make multiplatform games.
Becuase money is not in console making, EA is in the business of making money, plus EA couldn't afford the billions of dollars of R and R and then the usually loss with a console.

They don't have any exerience in the industry though.
The only good games that come out of EA are games from Bioware and Visceral..... I DO NOT want to buy an EA console for just a couple of games (more than likely they would migrate Origin into it and then disconinue origin on the PC and then I wouldn't be able to get my Bioware and Visceral games on PC, only their console). Don't give them any ideas!!
Like others posted, I am very doubtful that EA ven got the capital for entering the console buisness as a Console Maker.
Generally EA is not doing too hot, they do not roll in dough like some people may think, and then there is the notion that by being a multiplat publisher, might be more profiterable in the long haull (they may end up selling over 4x the number of games by being multiplat). So there is not really an incentive, and too much risk involved.
Not to mention for Consome gamers to get what tehy want in a console, for a price they are willing to pay, EA would have (like most other Console makers) to take a huge initial hit and go into the minus for a good while, and the average EA shareholder seems to be awefully uninterrested in having their shares take a dip. (that is a problem throughout the industry however, not EA specific).
So I can see why they would not. Too much risk, involved for something that might not yield that much more income.
