Many PC gamers like to throw around numbers. They boast about their quantity of titles, even when many of the games they list are something that you would buy off steam for 10-20 dollars and get only a few days use out of. If these count towards their numbers, why don't they count PSN/Xbox-live titles for the consoles?

Many of these titles (such as Scott Pilgrim, castle crashers, lara croft guardian of light, bionic commando, and braid) are solid and of greater quality than many of the equally cheap games that PC gamers list. in fact, many are debatebly better than most retail games. Here are lists of these downloadable games.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_Live_Arcade_games

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_downloadable_PlayStation_3_games

Now, some of these are ports of older games, but the vast majority are original games made for PSN and/or Xbox live (some are also on the ipad).

When these titles are factored in, the consoles have much more to offer in game selection each year than the PC gamers are willing to admit.

When don't PC gamers acknowledge these? The only time I see any gamer not acknowledging them is when talking about the SW Metagame, which XBLA/PSN titles do not count towards.

I don't think the traditional framework of comparing games across platform takes into account things like downloadable games or add-on content. It's hard enough to shoehorn in the idea of a stand-alone expansion vs. a full game.

If you're going to start counting indie games and small downloadables games, to do the same for the PC would just be massively one-sided against consoles considering theres been an indie scene for decades.

You wanna throw in there mods too? But im sure you wont as you'll adjust the criteria of what should count to benefit your argument.

In short: The PC counting just retail released games, the PC wins. If you want to count along indie games, its not eve a debate that the PC wins. We are trying to keep a somewhat of a fair fight.

More then half of those games are on PC too and you can easily find them on sale. =D Also, there are LOADS!!!! of amazing indie games. Too many to count....so when you compare that load to something else, one tends to ignore some. Indie World Quality and Quantity: PC >>>>>>>> PS3 > 360. For me, there are occasionally titles I would love to buy but are PS3 Only. I have a ps3 tho =D but 360 market, IMO, is pretty stale for the most part.

i dont think i have ever "acknowledged a game. However the PC indie list is so much larger... That it would not be fair to compare them.

Some of the best XBL/PSN games actually make it to the PC. I know Monday Night Combat and Super Meat Boy both made it to steam.

Lara Croft GoL, Bionic Commando and Braid are on PC.

At any rate the selection of downloadable titles (indie or otherwise) is a shadow of what's available on PC.

I do agree with the above posters, but I am not really sure it is the real reasons.

Indie games and other smaller downlaoadable games, exist in hordes, it would be really really hard to get them all listed, most PS3/360 owners does not count them thiers, PC ignore thiers and the wii, does have thier own (altho it is more in the area of older games, so Im not sure they belong in the same category).

It is just impractical allround. So most people in generel just, well ignore is a wrong word, we know they are there, just don't count? them maybe. Despite everyone is aware that the indie games, and smaller downloadables, deserve a bucketload of credit.

Last I checked, PSN/Xbox Live games were being counted on the GameSpot list. More of these sort of games are probably being accounted for on consoles, than their PC equivalents.

The problem is that if we started counting all small and cheap games like that, the number would become insane for the PC. To illustrate:

Xblox live has about 470 games based on the list you posted. Now look at steam (note these are not the result of some big sale, they are small or older games sold for $5-10 as their regular price):

908 games under $10

http://store.steampowered.com/browse/under10

350 Games under $5

http://store.steampowered.com/browse/under5

But to stack things higher, there's thousands of facebook games. Then there's thousands of flash games.

SW tend to opperate on the games listed and reviewed by Game Spot, if we tried to include minor games the list owuld become miles long and the bigger titles would be drowned out by the thousands of small games.

Much like the national politics of the US, elitism is seen as a bad thing, that is how we end up with Bush (consolers) vs an "elitist".

PC gamers are called elitist for a reason, we're elite. That picture is accurate. :)

I have never seen indie games "counted" in the debate.

Probably because most of the Indie games that people make a sometimes give away for free are better than the stuff that bigger devs put out.

I acknowledge them as far as I know. I praise the 360 when it comes to XBLA.

The only people that seem to be not acknowledging them are PS3/360 users when it comes to comparing their libraries.

I'm well aware of them, Dead Nation is propably my favourite PS3 game this far, but generally System Wars is about the big exclusives(and graphics), it's not just PC gamers ignoring them but everyone.

I was participating in online gaming on PC long before the consoles jumped in the game and I have yet to immerse myself in the XBOX live community. I don't own a PS3, so I can't speak on it, but I don not see the luster and thrill in the XBOX community like I do in the PC. Remember the first editions of MS Fighter ACE. That game got me hooked on online gaming back in 1999 and I never looked back.

Quake 2 was the game that did it for me. So much time spent on that game lol. Diablo was another one that got me hooked. But I've moved on from PC gaming and have been playing Xbox since the original came out.

Because it's on Wiiware and according to TC we don't acknowledge those titles:lol:. But, oh surprise! The TC didn't acknowledged Wiiware just PSN/XBL.

Actually this is the truth nowadays. In the old days only PSN/XBL/Wiiware were ignored. Then because it was kinda unfair all PC equivalent titles were erased. Some time later PSN/XBL/Wiiware sections where added but PC one remained the same. Nowadays it's the PC ones that don't get acknowledgement.
