Sure, people will say 'its a music player' but so is the PSP and DSi.
Seriously it has some great games.

So are most of the PSP's o.0

Probably because most of the games are made for "casuals". I personally love my iPhone and use it way more than my the DS and PSP combined, even for gaming. Im not saying the games are better because thats all subjective, but they are all i need for on the go. I really think the iphone/ipod will become a bigger game changer in the future however.
for the same reasons why they don't mention the games they play on their cellphones\
or why hermits rarely bring up browser games at SW
because ipod's main thing is not game, that is just an extra and psp games don't suck, they're better way than dskweeniYeah um, no
well um, imo yeskweeniOh that's interesting. Throwing "imo" in there doesn't make your statement anymore correct

OPINIONS FTW!!!
the same reason the ipod classic isnt brought up, the same reason why cell phones arent brought up, its not there primary function, i will admit that there are some genuinly fun games to play on the ipod touch however, zombie usa is amazing
Oh that's interesting. Throwing "imo" in there doesn't make your statement anymore correct  IT. IS. SUBJECTIVE. There is no right and wrong when it comes to what games are better. And then you laugh at the end of your statement really showing how ignorant you are that you think one systems games must be better than the others.[QUOTE="kweeni"]well um, imo yesDivergeUnify

Deep down inside you know it is true. :)
It is because it would be an insult to handheld videogame consoles to call a cell phone or and MP3 player a handheld videogame console.

Apple is just trying to slowly muscle their way into as many industires as they can with the iPod name. I think a lot of people would rather Apple came out with a full blown gaming handheld than an music player that has games as an afterthought. I personally frown upon their actions.
Music player with games vs game player with music.Next-Gen-Tec
This.
Who buys an iPhone just so they can download the best games? No one, they buy it as a music player/phone/etc and will maybe download a few games if they find the time.
Plus, the games offered don't even surpass the scope of Flash games, if they started releasing games equivalent to an actual handheld like the PSP/DS, then maybe it would be included in discussion.
It's OK for playing in short bursts, I wouldn't think of it as a handheld though.

No buttons, no physical media, minimal support from mainstream developers and publishers, and it wasn't intended to be a game device at launch, savebatterySorry but you're just pulling pulling stuff from your ***. Hmm lets make a list of mainstream developers who support the iDevice (iPhone/iPod Touch):
EA: Sims 3, Tetris, Need For Speed, Tiger Woods, Trivial Pursuit, Mass Effect and more
Gameloft (owned by Ubisoft): Hero of Sparta, Real Football, Assassins Creed, Brothers in Arms, Terminator Salvation and more
Konami: Metal Gear Solid Touch, Silent Hill, DanceDanceRevo
PopCap: Peggle, Bejeweled 2. SEGA: Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe
id Software: DOOM Resurrection, Wolfenstein
Square Enix: Vanguard Storm
Capcom: Resident Evil

Statement.
And opinions are subject to criticism just as much as 'statements'. Don't act like you're immune just because you said "imo".

Wow, a short list of games from a short list of developers? Wow, that certainly isn't EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT when I said MINIMAL SUPPORT. And you didn't address the fact that the majority of those games are ports/remakes. Or the other things I mentioned, like the lack of buttons, physical media, and the idea that it wasn't launched as a gaming platform.
 Short list of games and developers? I could list many more but I don't want to waste my time with trolls. Ports and remakes, who cares? You said no mainstream developers were supporting the iPhone so I listed the games I could think of from the top of my head. And I didn't debate those other issues because you were just scraping the barrel. Quick frankly, no one cares about lack of buttons/physical media when their on the throne taking a ****. iDevice play games, end of story.Wow, a short list of games from a short list of developers? savebattery
Because 99.99% of its games are over-glorified flash games.
I have an iPod Touch and, surprisingly, I love it (I hate Apple). It's a good music player, and a lot of the games are fun diversions for waiting on the bus and what not. But there is not a single game on the system that even comes close to comparing to the great games on the PSP and DS like The World Ends With You, GTA: Chinatown Wars, Advance Wars, Crisis Core, Patapon, etc.
