Yes, by ignoring moody jerks, keeping a friends list and setting your Gamertag to Pro. it is on pro and i play ranked matches. i have no choice of who i play with. host advantage is real i hate when people say it's just an excuse. you go host a match and see how many extra kills you get

Not every online game. I've never had a constant host advantage in any game but I have had people quit on me and in larger games like Resistance and Battlefield or even Halo it sucks really when it becomes 8 v 2 or 16 v 7. Skill is needed to get you out of these situations or make the best of them and one way to do that is by joining a decent clan that communicates with one another.

I disagree, on Halo 2 the host shotty is often the deciding factor in small games, and the host BR on the hands of even a skilled player is absolute destruction. I got host a couple times on BTB Slayer and I was amazed at how many times I managed to 4 shot people. Not to mention the sticky grenades are pin point accurate, if you know how to throw them well. But yea, host advantage on Gears is pretty noticeable, especially when 80% of the fighting involves shotguns. The thing I like about Gears though is that it's really easy to lay traps and feign moves. I went behind a car once after a long sprint and then immediately ran back the way I came to shoot and disintegrate the host, who was hot on my heels. The best game for connections would have to be BF:2. Though I don't own the game, I play the demo often and at the real thing at a friend's house. There is no host advantage so everyone is almost equal. I say almost because there are variations in how far away people live from the servers. Still, it's very fair and rarely laggy, even in a 24 player war.

Host advantage is in every online game except those run on dedicated servers. Thankfully most PC games allow dedicated servers to be setup which allows more players and more importantly no host advantage of any kind as there is no host. That is what sucks about XBL.

You can set up dedicated servers for some 360 games (like R6:V) but I really haven't noticed a host advantage in any games, at least not on the level that it makes a game completely unfair.

I think its the first one (where your 360 is the server) but I could be wrong. I don't know why you would though, I know in R6:V there isn't a big host advantage.

I know in Rainbow Six Vegas you can select the option when you create a game to create a dedicated server. My understanding is if you do you can't play in the game or do anything else with your 360 (except for use the xbox guide button features). Not really practical for anyone except for tournaments and that would probably involve Ubi using their own servers anyway.

I've stopped playing Gears online, and I've been playing it less then a month (got free month of Gold membership). So many people take it seriously, even on unranked player matches. I've even been kicked off a few games cus I wasn't getting enough (any) kills in. It's only my opinion (keep this in mind, opinion) but I prefer playing Mario Kart DS over wi-fi.

Meh...I've never noticed a host advantage. This isn't to say that there isn't one, mind you. I just haven't noticed. My only complaint with GeOW online is the lack of game modes, honestly. A little CTF could really extend the replay value IMO.
i actually played a game today (Ranked, execution) where the host left in the third round cos he was being owned and his team was aswell, and my team was 1 person down so he just canceled the game when he died in the third round as he was ****
