All of you Sony and Microsoft fanboys are raving with excitement about the upcoming motion control thats coming to PS3 and 360.

Oh but nearly 3 years ago when the Wii first came out, everyone called it a gimmick that wouldn't last, and now look the big, fancy " Hardcore HD systems are copying it ".

Am i the only one that see's a pattern here ?

i mean c'mon, way back when Nintendo was the first to go from joystick to game pad with the NES, and Sega and Atari copied them.

Then Nintendo comes out with the analog thumb stick and rumble pack with N-64 and Sony and the rest copied them.

Well here we are almost 25 years of Nintendo innovations later and the competition are still hypocrites, first they mach the motion control as a gimmick and now there copying it yet again.

So before you fanboys go bashing the Wii for it's shovelware or lack of HD graphics and serious hardware, the fact remains that Nintendo has always been the innovators and thus far this gen has the largest install base, so the better games will come, in addition to alot of great titles it already has..

Everyone is usted to them copying Nintendo. They are the only ones who strive to do something different, and throw out so called standars for something new. Who wouldn't copy them?

Because, despite being a next-gen console, attacking Nintendo would make the Wii relevant on these boards.

First off where you been, dude? Been a while. Second, nobody's attacking anymore because it was an E3 reveal. All old news now. Yes they are copying Nintendo. That's how business works. All the other automobile makers copied the Ford model T when it began mass production, should we still be bashing Honda, Mercedes, and BMW?

Yeah the only difference was the ford model T wasn't ridiculed by it's peers, it was praised and copied in the name of flattery and innovation, Nintendo was ridiculed and attacked as being cheap and gimmicky, they deserve the credit for yet another innovation soon to be copied by all.

First of all, Sony had motion control last gen. It was the original eyetoy. Second of all, they're still gimmicks and no one wants to see them as the main focus for the PS3 or the 360.

I don't see any fanboys Raving about the Motion Control's on Ps3 and 360.... Personally I don't want them. I think there a Gimmick that is going to hurt gaming if all the company's want to try to use them... I'll just have to stick with Killzone 2, Disgaea 3, Final Fantasy Tactics the war of the Lions, Call of Duty 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, Halo 2, and Final Fantasy 13 (if its any good) if the motion controls are used in every game like they are for the majority of Wii Shovelware

Umm because just like Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo is a business. All businesses (especially game companies) copy one another. It isn't nothing new.

Lets think a little more out there shall we? Okay, which companies actually took money losses in providing an HD console with more and better features and did not target the casual market by limiting higher rated games that attract the core gamers? Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo took the easy way not giving a crap about the core gamer providing shovelware and making the easy bucks with a gimmick to grab every casual and over weight person who actually thinks Wii fit will change their habit and help them lose weight.

Even copying that dumb little gimmick, will not stop them from pumping out fantastic gaming features and games. Wii is atacked because it bases everything on it and decided not to spend too much on their console so they can wipe themselves with money.

I got eye rolled  They do things different also, they just don''t do it on the level of Nintendo or even Microsoft (although Nintendo to a muchbigger extent). As much as i like the PS3, a lot of its online features have been copied from X Box live.

Who else besides Nintendo tries to make a different game completely instead of just making another FPS? Most devs just make the same thing. Nintendo makes original ideas and builds up from them a lot more than Microsoft or Sony. Deal with it.

Where have you been, lots of people attacked Sony and MS for this. We just happen to be past that hump where people started to realized that whether they copied it or not, it ultimately doesn't change a damn thing about whether it is good or not.

Natal is actually much more similar to the PSEye than the Wiimote.

Most of what natal promises to do can already be done with Sony's technology (A lot of this tech has been showcased in DigForNews the past weeks).

The PS3 wand goes hand in hand with the eyetoy, which is Natal. In other words, you don't need the wand to operate it. It's just a peripheral that cooperates with the eyetoy, which has been around longer than Natal has.

In terms of what? I'm pretty sure SotC and Siren are some of the most innovative games released last gen. And it was Sony who pioneered ergonomic controller design, aside from those flat pads that were used by Sega and Nintendo previously.

Sony makes more games than FPS games. Hello Last Guardian. LBP, anyone? You're just not familiar with Sony's unique or innovative games.

Why do you think they did not? It's probably because they THOUGHT they couldn't get away with it. Almost everyone thought the Wii was going to commercially fail, and then here it comes shattering the beliefs of everyone.

Point is, don't praise them for having gone through this route, because truth is, they are regretting it every single day.

Just wait until next gen, you'll see what I'm talking about.

What's wrong with copying a smart idea? I understand Nintendo have been smart in their decisions this gen but should we really defend them when other companies like it better. The world goes round because people improve on ideas. PSN wouldn't exist without LIVE and the Wii may not have existed without the PS2's success.

The PS3 wand is a mix between Natal and the Wiimote ...

ceruxx

If you need the wand to operate it, its not like Natal.

The PS3 wand goes hand in hand with the eyetoy, which is Natal. In other words, you don't need the wand to operate it. It's just a peripheral that cooperates with the eyetoy, which has been around longer than Natal has.

By looking at the E3 demo, no. The ball-on-the-stick depends on the camera. I didn't see the examples using their hands. If I have over looked something please notify me. If I'm right then it's the same as M+.

And even if it didn't depend on the wand then what's the point? Sony's ripping you off!:o A scam I say, a scam!!!!

What's wrong with copying a smart idea? I understand Nintendo have been smart in their decisions this gen but should we really defend them when other companies like it better. The world goes round because people improve on ideas. PSN wouldn't exist without LIVE and the Wii may not have existed without the PS2's success.gamefan274

 Funny joke buddy..... Right....?

The ball on the stick depends on the camera, but the camera doesn't depend on the ball on the stick. Look up the Eyepet. It predates the ball on the stick and works without the stick. Like Natal.

hey TC, it's funny you should say that MS is copying nintendo's motion controller when MS came out with their own motion controller in 1998!!!! it was called the Microsoft Sidewinder Freestyle Pro for the pc and came with a free racing game. looks like nintendo like to copy from MS.

also, one was made for the ps one but i can't find any pics of it.

you mean like the old MS camera for the 360. the eyetoy and the 360 vision camera don't have motion sensing and aren't able to determine depth. natal also has voice and facial recognition which is far more advanced than the eyetoy.

No, the eyetoy can and does sense depth. That's why it works so well with the "ball on a stick."

There's already been information in SW about advanced facial recognition technology being used with eyetoy.

@Knight-of-NINE

Project Natal isn't copying the Wii's motion sensoring at all. Natal will detect full body 3d movement, facial movement, and voices while the Wii provides wiimote waggling.
