They are so unbiased =)
I was talking to a casual today (a friend of mine), and he owns both a 360 and a PS3. A lot of the things he said were amusing.
He liked Halo 3 a lot, despite not having XBL. However, he told me he was dissapointed in how they didn't change the graphics at all.
I recommended he try Bioshock, but he said he saw videos of it and didn't like it. I respected his opinion.
He just bought Orange Box, and he told me he hates it(he was very hyped for it the week before). I tried to get him to elaborate (you know how casuals are), and he told me the game is too hard. He made it clear that it was "hard" as in, not knowing what to do in the game (getting lost, confused, stuck etc...). I thought back to my experiences with Half-Life 2 and I somewhat agreed with him.
For some odd reason he was convinced that the PS3 version coming out later would be better 0_o. I convinced him that it would be the same game.
Earlier I had recommended he try out Heavenly Sword because I heard good things about it, of course -- I warned him it was extremely short. So he told me he had rented it, and he enjoyed it alot -- especially guiding arrows with the sixaxis. I asked him about the cutscenes (as I heard they were well made), he told me they were weird.
He does admit the PS3 lacks games (casuals don't worship their console), so I tried to recommend him some. I told him about Ratchet and Clank, and he said he didn't like cartoony games. I tried pretty hard to persuade him into understanding that R&C is badass, but his mind seemed pretty set.
Although he does admire his PS3 alot more than his 360 for some odd reason.
I mentioned Uncharted, but he has never heard of it. I also mentioned Assassin's Creed, but again -- he hasn't heard of it, and he didn't like the whole medieval idea.
The next game he told me he was getting was Army of Two. He also said he will be getting GTA4 for the PS3, because he said, "it would feel too weird on the 360."
Oh, and everybody loves the Wii =p. I've noticed that.
I find it extremely interesting on how different the views are of people who don't spend hours everyday arguing about games on a forum.
Which is why after my next systems wars bet is over. I'll be leaving system wars forever =p, to go enjoy games instead of worrying about those who don't.
anyone else have insightful conversations with casuals?
