I just hope Sony sticks to their plan of releasing games with both control schemes because I can't imagine playing anything like Soccom 4 or Infamous 2 with the motion controller. I have a wii and I wish that games like Super Mario Galaxy were compatible with a regular controller.
Motion controls are okay in short bursts but I much prefer the traditional controller.
While I see what you're saying, this topic is in no way new... I've seen this topic about 67576890 times. But at least this time it's a Texas football player and not some lazy fatass hahaha.

imo that's what's going to kill the Playstation Move, only shipping the Wii with a wiimote is basically the only reason the wiimote even took off
if they had launched the wii with a regular controller and said "for an extra $60 you get this new-fangled motion controller" the wiimote - and maybe even the Wii itself - never would've taken off
if they really want this thing to take off it either has to have some really tangible advantages on a consistent basis like analog sticks had for the PS1 controller or there's some killer games people just gotta have for it
I would like to see consoles next gen to come with 1 standard controller and 1 motion controller... I like motion based games... but I love my games controlled by a standard control scheme too.
I think Sony's motion device is a good step in the right direction to making a controller that can be used asa primary for both casual & core games.
the only part i dont like about motion controls because of the fact it requires movement which is the opposite of what i want to do no im not lazy i play highschool football in TEXAS im more fit than most of yall but i just tore a disk in my back and it hurts to stand up or move at allgammon56The PlayStation Move (motion controller) is optional. You'll have the option to play with the DualShock controller or with the Move.
I say just take the Wii to another step with better integration, and perhaps offer alternate methods of control. I like the idea...
Sony still hasn't solved the major problem - real-world activities provide a constant feedback loop that motion controls just can't replicate. Can you imagine trying to swing a golf club without being able to feel its inertia, or steer a car without being able to feel the aligning torque from the rack?
It works great for pointing, where your eyes provide the feedback your brain needs. Outside of that, things start to break down.
Once the become the norm we will all get use to them. Your just not use to using those muscles. Has you play more it does not become a problem. HarlockJCI feel that many people would never adhere to that(if it became the main control system),and the only thing that would happen is that most of them would run off to the PC,where such things are not bound to happen.

You actually have to move your hand - mouse remember?
OP - Once again this is a moot argument.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VBMEN5Bvpg&feature=related- They simply have to stop mapping actions such as reloading, melee to some weird waggle and simply link it to a button. Aside from that you can see it hardly takes any moving at all.
If this scares you too much I'm sure you can still resort to a regular controller around but don't start crying when you get owned during Online Multiplayer.

You actually have to move your fingers in a controller as well. Is that motion control?[QUOTE="gammon56"]the only part i dont like about motion controls because of the fact it requires movement which is the opposite of what i want to do no im not lazy i play highschool football in TEXAS im more fit than most of yall but i just tore a disk in my back and it hurts to stand up or move at allsurrealnumber5i dont see how you could be considered fit if it hurts to stand up or move at all
He expects them to stop all attempts of integrating motion controls in games because he tore a disk in his back. I think he might have hurt some other parts aswell. Brains maybe.
cuz you do so much moving while using motion controls right?
I dont want them to become the norm either, but not because i dont want an unnecessary "workout."
Motion sucks for many game types but if you have no skills then motion would be great for a casual gamer.

I sure don't want motion to become a general standard. I'd like to see conventional controllers augmented for 1:1 motion tracking. EX: a break apart (Sony patented one lol) dualshock with conventional input as well as 1:1 3D space tracking. Dual Shock Move anyone?

its not the wii that scares me its natal i know people who will never be able to use them or like me who currently cant i dont want my gaming to be taken away because i cant stand up for long periods currently[QUOTE="gammon56"]the only part i dont like about motion controls because of the fact it requires movement which is the opposite of what i want to do no im not lazy i play highschool football in TEXAS im more fit than most of yall but i just tore a disk in my back and it hurts to stand up or move at allEasyleUmm... have you ever heard of spelling or proper grammer? I wasn´t rying to counter everything, just your opening sentence.cuz you do so much moving while using motion controls right?

It's not a workout by any means. Try getting through hell week we run sprints and lift weights and RAIL ROAD TIES for 12 HOURS a day only stoping for water and 15 min nap. I have a torn disk you try playin a real motion capture game like what natal or pseye is with thatI sure don't want motion to become a general standard. While they don't interconnect, the Move and its Nunchuk...sorry, "subcontroller"... is already pretty close to that concept. You've got an analog stick and d-pad under your left thumb, and all the face buttons under the right. The only thing is those buttons aren't arranged in the standard diamond and you don't have a second analog stick. But otherwise a developer could implement these in a fairly conventional manor if so desired.

Moving the mouse is similar to the Wiimote, it requires wrist movement at most and sometimes your arm, the difference is you have a surface on which you rest your arm. Just try to define Motion Controls. Controls thro motion. What do we do with a mouse? We control the cursor on the screen by moving the mouse, thus thro Motion. Motion Controls. Tada.
Pressing buttons on a keyboard is similar to gaming on a controller, you don't move anything except your fingers.

Yeah, you're right about that :). I think it would be nice to make it all standard and streamlined next go-round though.

Not when they find out how many games are better with motion controls. Example when players start playing sports games with a motion control they will end up wanting to use it more than a normal control. The games are just so much more enjoyable. I also think as more players play minigames with motion controls the stereotype that none of them are good will also go away.

Some people will resist any kind of change. Must we halt progress just for their benefit?
I dont think it ever will. I think there will always be a market for those who just want to sit down, relax, and play a video game.

Umm, that is exactly how I play most Wii games. You do not always have to be standing up and waving your hands around like a mad man to benefit from motion controls.
Despise motion controls, myself.
Look at all the decent games on Wii. Now look to if motion controls added anything gameplay-wise. Very few, if any, couldn't have been done as well or better with a traditional controller. Many genres, like RPG's and fighting, make no sense with Wiimote and are much better on traditional controller.
Since nobody wants to undertake special development changes for it (and its crappy related hardware), its big contribution to gaming is shovelware.

Motion controls add a lot to Metroid Prime 3 IMO.
I agree they're no good for fighters... neither is a keyboard... but RPGs? Motion controls could actually work well for a Diablo or WOW style RPG on a console, since they generally handle on-screen pointers much better than an analog stick. For a conventional menu driven JRPG it should hardly matter, since you can select menu options either with a pointer or just a d-pad. Action RPGs... well it would come down to preference.

Shovelware didn't start with the Wii and motion controls. It's been on every popular system almost since the beginning. That it is seemingly more prevalent on the Wii is the result of several different factors.
Once the become the norm we will all get use to them. Your just not use to using those muscles. Has you play more it does not become a problem. HarlockJCSo what happens with people like me, i play handball, and usually, my arms are tired, not ot mention my wrists, so what happens when im forced to use my body when i'm exhausted, i hope it will never happen, because it would alienate those who oppose it.

What makes this progress, being new doesn't make it good. Besides, the majority of gamers still do not use motion controls. Please Log In to post.
