Wow, this woman pretty much nailed it on how I feel about Halo 3:

Why do people have to look for reasons not to get excited for or even like Halo? I really don't get it.Everyone Anti-Halo(i'm not saying anyone here is, i'm just saying in general) always seems to feel the need to voice their opinion and make everyone else hear it.. over and over.. Kinda like Jack Thompson.AdolescentDon

because they feel they are "strange" or "different"because they arent into something so many people are. so they constantly question it and ask question like "what makes _____ so great"

So another person (a girl) :P , shares your opinion of Halo. Over a million people share my opinion that Halo is an awesome game.
But they are all opinions, people will agree or not agree, it doesn't actually change anything.

Ya, I thought about bloggin it too. But, I found this article floating around the net, and I thought maybe a lot of people on this board feel the same way about Halo 3.

No, it's because we think it's strange for gamers to be excited for a mundane shooter like Halo 3. It's like Goldeneye 64....500 years later /w aliens.
[QUOTE="ParasiteDemon"]I don't like Halo but this unbelievable hype just makes me really hate itReyes360
oh so sorry, I guess the LAIR hype was fun to deal with though. lol
LOL!!! You like 500 years old if you're still using lair jokes as a defense. xD! Halo 3 is overated Combat Evolved was fun for 5 hours... then it got terribly boring.
this is my only qualm with the article (its fine that she does think the game is god's gift to gamers) is summed up well by the guy who left the second comment

I want to comment about your remarks about the story. Have you read the books? This story is MUCH more than just aliens VS humans...it goes alot deeper than that.
And I'm not a crazy 15 year old that is a Halo fan boy, I'm 28 and my wife even loves the books. Granted she won't play the game but she really enjoys the story.
Having said that I think there is a lot more to the story than the avarage player ever sees.
if you have read Fall of Reach the story becomes alot less derivative

And Goldeneye 64 is just Quake set in the James Bond universe and done on consoles.
[QUOTE="killtactics"]if you only play "revolutionary" games then stop gaming.... b/c there has't been a game like that in a whilemajadamus
I never said I wasn't going to play the game...it's just the hype..it's ridiculous.
just try to cope with the hype for another month or 2..

Halo:CE is better towards the end... shows how much you know.
Well on the one hand Halo serves as a good "event" video game experience. Its nice to see the media acknowledge that gaming is a huge industry with its own blockbusters just like Hollywood. But like any big movie...its hated for being popular and will attract haters for that aspect alone. Yes it is a mainstream product that doesn't exactly break new ground but it tends to provide what you expect and thats thats not all that bad either. Transformers isn't art, but I'll be damned if it wasn't a fun flick.
Halo is over hyped...but its fun so who cares.
I'm sorry but no. The books do not count. We are talking about a series of games, the books are an aside. If we're talking star wars, we're talking luke skywalker not dash rendar. We should not look at what the game designers are attempting to do with game either, only with what they actually accomplish.this is my only qualm with the article (its fine that she does think the game is god's gift to gamers) is summed up well by the guy who left the second comment

What they accomplished was a game series with lots of generic elements. Maybe on purpose (like hiding MC's face so anyone can imagine they are MC), but who knows. I dont even know if originality and innovation is really a big deal, quite frankly, and maybe making it generic in key ways is a great way to make it easily accessible and points the focus of the game away from the plot (much like goldeneye did ironically)
"No one actually hates Halo; you can't hate Halo and call yourself a gamer.. Anyone who says they hate Halo is just trying to sound cool as he goes and plays his Wolfenstien 3D with a smug grin on his non-conformist face. Even those of us who are uninterested in the Halo series understand that it is a game that is very impressive on many levels, including graphics, multiplayer interface, and variety of levels and gameplay. But it's also just an FPS, and it introduces really nothing revolutionary to the genre."
I agree with her on this 100%.
