Wow guys, you all should be happy that Valve announced it. The first one was such an amazing game! Why the freakin hate? I mean I'm getting a PC just for it! lmao

Or that people bought L4D at full retail price, and then a year later, they release what basically, is an upgrade in weapons and campaigns. This could have been done via download and patching. Instead, they want more money.Valve is already loaded.

Only you dont know it's just an upgrade in weapons and you dont know how much they'll ask for it. >_>Everything in this new game would have been easily downloaded and patched into L4D. They could have charged a small fee, and made a ton.
Granted, we don't know how much they'll ask, but the fact we bought L4D at full retail, for what was extremely lacking in content (still full as hell though).
Valve normally would continue to support the original game for years after release, adding content, free DLC, and low-cost add-ons. Suddenly, they have a run-away success that spans consoles as well as PC, and they decide to have a sequel just one year later? Given that the original game didn't have enough content to justify its $60 pricetag, and many of us longtime Valve fans bought it on the basis that we were going to get the longterm support we expected, this is a real kick in the teeth.subrosian
Yea Vaule usually supports their games fore a while. LFD wasint exactly brimming with content and instead of just adding these levels they are going to make you pay 60 more bucks.
I payed $40 for a 2 hour game. Now I have pay another $40 for more hours of content.
Just about everyone turned their cheek on L4D's content during reviews because their was the assumption that they would release more content in the near future and the MP was very fun.
Left 4 Dead just came out. Why make a sequel for a game we just got to play when we have been waiting for Episode 3 or a Portal sequel for over a year now.
You dont know that. You dont know anything about it. And that's why it makes absolutely no sense for people to be going nuts and starting boycott petitions. You dont know what content it'll include, how much there'll be and how much they'll ask for it.Everything in this new game would have been easily downloaded and patched into L4D. Valve is a company that continually brings extra content to their games (look to Team Fortress 2).
They sell a game with 2-3 hours of gameplay for full retail price, then turn around and create a 2nd game a year later.
How is that not a bad thing?

It looks like L4D1.5
It is releasing only one year after L4D, yet Valve has no problems taking several years between each Half Life game.
People have every reason to be mad at Valve. Fanboys have been screaming for Half Life 3 for quite some time.

^^ exactly what this guy said. Valve would dedicate a lot of time to games released (years) patching them and making them better, adding map developer tools (L4D still doesn't have this LOL). Just look at TFC, DOD, and CS and how they were continuously supported.
Now after hearing an announcement for L4D2 I sort of realized that L4D just seemed kind of thrown together last minute and maybe JUST maybe with all the new addons it might justify the 60 bucks I spent on it. L4D2? no thanks. Like many say, I'll just wait for L4D3 in a year to see if they add anything more worthwhile to the game.

I think with the new SDK release, the modding community should be quite active, so hopefully that'll add to the original L4D.

The point isn't that L4D2 might include content worth $60, the point is that those of us who already bought L4D have not gotten proper longterm support. We already paid our $60, where are our developer tools? Where are our years of patches and updates? Where is our legendary Valve customer care? We're getting discarded after just one year, and that's a shame.Everything in this new game would have been easily downloaded and patched into L4D. Left 4 Dead 2 isn't even good enough to be called Left 4 Dead 1.5, its more like Left 4 Dead v1.2 Title Update Pack! This is so un Valve, I don't own Left 4 Dead and now I don't plan to buy it, but still the fact that Valve is almost done with a sequel when they just released the first one is utter crap, Valve made a promise to the community with Left 4 Dead on the lack of content and this is how they hold that promise...by making you BUY more content. Its a bit greedy.I don't see the problem. They release a CoD every year and that isn't considered bad.
smithster118
That's two seperate companies.
Infinity Ward and Treyarch.
So it's one every 2 years. They also usually have $60 worth of content.

Yes, but if they add a bunch of new campaigns, weapons, new zombies, new charecters and who knows what else, and it has at least as much content as the original, why the hell should I not pay a full retail price? And if that is how the game will be then I have no problem paying a full retail price. The people who make the games need to make a living also, you know.

that would be a step in the right direction. Maybe then we can start seeing a lot more custom L4D maps.

I just paid full retail price for a 3 hour L4D. Why would I do it again, when Valve are known for bringing what content is in L4D2, to games either free of charge, or with little charge, for years and years.
This is very out of character, as a company for them.
I know they need to make a living. So bring this in a chargeable update, or just over time. This is a first for Valve, and they are a hugely successful company.
Call of Duty now isn't 60 bucks worth of content... you get a gimped SP and a MP rehash.
As for LFD2... this is why Microsoft is so frickin rich... and why alot of people hate them. :)

Agreed. Some of the modders campaigns look excellent.
This. I've never really liked CoD. Any news if Valve has a pricing on L4D2?Call of Duty now isn't 60 bucks worth of content... you get a gimped SP and a MP rehash.

The game had it's value but left4dead 1 did not feel like a full game it wasn'tworth the money it was quite repetitive it's only saving grace was the online which I got bored fast on my pc, hopefully part 2 will be different.
The first one had crap for content at a full price tag. They just need to make it a free add-on if you own the original.Lethalhazardyet cod4 is a cod 2 mod at full price there is no difference. look like mw2 is going to be another cod2 mod like cod3/4/waw have all been call of duty is not worth anymore than l4d.

more like hours and hours of gameplay. l4d is a multiplayer game, anyone how bought it for the sp made a big mistake, it's a mp game with the ability to play sp.[QUOTE="AdoringFan_"]Why would you get a PC that cost 500-600 bux when you can get a 360 You can spend about like $60 on the computer your most likely currently using and max it. A) Half-Life 2: Episode 3 should have been shown, not L4D2;
B) L4D already barely had any content as is;
C) Only one year is going to separate the two games; why spend full price on a game which looks nothing more than DLC.

Valve needs to make their product a Free add on because your disappointed in the amount of content in the first? Is your approval going to pay their staff or costs? The sense of entitlement is staggering.
