Why in the frick have we never gotten a sequel to Metal Gear Rising?

Why in the fricking frick have we never gotten a sequel to this banger? I know that the current Platinum Games is pretty much dead, and we'll probably never see a good game from them anymore, but before they fallen off, they had years and years of releasing a new game. So much potential, and nobody does anything with it😑

Because Konami got out of games and Platinum is a loose cannon.

Maybe, just maybe, most people don't like being forced to parry nearly all. Screw Sekiro too. Anyway, sales probably did not meet expectations.

As a Metal Gear, it's a disgrace, but story was already pretty crappy starting with 4.

MGS2 Rayden had more character dev and personality than the cyborg.

On topic: I'd love another Rising game

Really enjoyed the game myself and would love another one but it probably didn’t sell a whole lot plus it’s a Konami IP so who knows what’s up with them when it comes to that.

But Rising is a good game. Just that Platinum Games have games more deserving of a sequel, like Vanquish.

Vanquish is too niche, they will never make a sequel. Trump made Rising what it is, and it deserves a sequel.

MGR was a hit that has sold several million units, more than enough to justify a sequel. The problems lie elsewhere: the Kojima-Konami fallout, Konami's AAA exit, and Platinum's decline.

MGR and Vanquish both deserve sequels.

MGR's Senator Armstrong came years before Trump's presidential campaign. It's just another case of the Metal Gear franchise predicting future events.

I always knew the sales were a smashing hit since it did came out back in 2013 when gaming as a whole was still in its prime and everyone was having fun during the 7th gen era.

As for a sequel, I remember reading that Kojima had plans to make another MGS spin-off and that was gonna be all about The Boss aka Snake's mentor from MGS3. And Kojima wanted to do Zone of the Enders 3 as well, but as you pointed out, Kojima and Konami's relationship started to fall and that's when shit really hit the fan during development with MGS5.

Sure, i wouldn't say a no to Vanquish sequel, but that game has only excelled in its gameplay, while the writing and characters in Rising were just amazing lmao. I'd take advantage of this because many might've not played the game, but if you play video games, there's zero chance you haven't seen those cutscenes and all the memes. So many Rising vids with 1M+ views on youtube.

I like both games, but I'd give the edge to Vanquish for having better gameplay. MGR is Platinum's second biggest hit behind only Nier Automata, so MGR sequel would've made financial sense if it wasn't for internal issues at Konami and Platinum in the years that followed.

I would lean more towards wanting to see a Vanquish sequel. Had fantastic gameplay but also ended on a cliffhanger.

Rising had awesome boss fights but the weapons after the polearm seemed pretty half baked so the game was getting stale before the epic grand finale. I don't expect they would capture the 'magic' of the first game if a sequel was made.

I had a lot of problems with Rising. The camera gave me motion sickness and the writing made want to throw up. A Vanquish sequel yeah, I would be into that.
