What thinking? :?, you throw down a couple of mini turrets, throw a bunch of trap bolts, proximity mines on the ground, purposely fail a hack to lure out the gun turrets, hack them, and shut the alarm down then you are set . Hell, once you get level 2 Winter Blast you are practically invincible or the plasmid that regenrate hp + eve while standing in water, you could spam plasmids with it. Yes I am playing it without Vita Chamber right now on hard[QUOTE="salxis"][QUOTE="jyoung312"] Bingo that's exactly what I meant. Bioshock is also a much more satisfying game when you play w/o vita chambers. You have to use strategy in approaching enemies especially powerful ones like Big Daddies. Bioshock is a "thinking man's shooter" and not a mindless run-and-gun like MW2. Im_single
I actually LOL'd, but what you just used is something called "Strategy" and requires something called "Thought" something you just said BioShock has none of, what he meant was that you don't just run in a blast away, which is the exact opposite of your scenario, you obviously used planning, deception, and traps to kill your enemies; Not run and gun.
Well, for me strategies requires you to think way harder than that, in Bioshock all you have to do is spam all the trap ammos on the ground (i.e. blast away all your ammo, just with delayed impact :P) and you are set that really doesn't require much thinking. Yes I know I am being nit picky but the "planning" in Bioshock is as deep as a tower defense game where you don't even have to predict enemy movements.Another thing is, this game doesn't require you to "defend" yourself, having instant healing health pack = you can brute force your way through this game without any consequences, since you get more than enough money to get through the game even on hard.
RTS: You got a low hp units, you either let gradually regenerate hp, use skills/spells to heal the unit, micromanage it and try to keep it alive or just sacrifice it. You need to make a decision based on limited resources.
FF 13: You get unimited "mana" in this one, and you can switch between healer/attacker/tank at will for most characters, you don't use any resources in this game, but there's an enrage timer to stop players from tutrtling and killing the boss, thus requiring you to think about when's the best time to use a specific team set-up.
See the difference? There's always a delay between choosing an attack move or a defense move, in Bioshock, you can do both of them simultaneously without any consequences.
These are my definition of strategy, it's by no means correct or a fact, simply my opinion, but I just felt saying that MW = played by brainless people insulting. Hey, you got to choose which one to shoot first, the one with a bazooka or the one with a sub machine gun
Change Bioshock's health system to regenerating health or the First Aid actually takes sometime to heal + could be interrupted by damage, now THAT would require a lot more planning and thinking.
