Why is everybody hyping Dark Souls... because Demon's Souls was difficult?

I have much more trouble with Uncharted on Crushing difficulty than Demon's Souls. I liked Demon's Souls for SO many other reasons than its difficulty but all I hear is it's so difficult and you gonna dies and you gonna be so frustrated etc. Demon's Souls was the least frustrating game I ever played. There's a whole lot other to it than the difficulty. What ya think?

Everyone's hyping it because Demon's Souls was amazing.

For me difficulty is a big draw, I don't think Dark Souls will be that hard, however I do think level 1 runs/no equipment runs/no bonfire runs will be a blast. Its a large part but that's not the only thing, the environments, atmosphere (even if its not as good as past FS titles), the bosses, and the whole package look good.

Never played Demon's Souls but from what i understand it all comes down to build a good character (armor, weapons), being patient and learn when to attack and when to defendm if that's the case, then i hope i can learn to play properly because i don't want to be frustrated by Dark Souls.

Demon's Souls scored a 9.0 here and won GOTY here for a reason, it's a superb game. Has nothing to do with the difficulty. That's quite possibly one of the dumbest things I've ever heard on here. Yes, hyping a game because it's difficult. Though in System Wars I wouldn't put it past some of these people.

its not the only reason people are hyping it but i do know where your coming from like half the things i read are about the difficulty.

When you play UC on Crushing you can tell it was never meant to be played like that because the gameplay design falls to pieces. Running from cover to cover is literally suicidal. The only way you can progress much of the time is to stay back and pick off enemies from a distance, running out of ammo a lot along the way. There's no way you can play it the way its meant to be played on Crushing, its just a never ending mountain to climb.

Having said that I did enjoy beating it on Crushing, but if I replay it now I'll choose hard.

Demons Souls was designed to be that challening and everything still comes together. Like UC its one of the best games this generation, so hyping Dark Souls is for more than just the difficulty.

Hyping this game for many reasons besides just difficulty. Its unique multplayer, nice combat, good atmosphere, etc (all other stuff that make a game, excellent).

Difficulty in this generation has gone down quite a bit. Everything is spoonfed to you with direction arrows, hints, glowing object, or just linear paths.

Demons souls was on average hard for the "average" consumer, and thats what made it exciting, it brought back that sense of accomplishment that is missing in todays generation.

I would think the trial and error with its learning curve(not difficulty, there is a difference), is a just icing on the ever so sweet cake. The game is a very solid breath of fresh air. Oh, and awesome bosses.

I'm keeping an eye for this game because I hear how its gameplay is excellent, but the truth is even if I saw tons of gameplay footage I can't see what is so great about it. That is why I'm hoping they release a demo so I can test the game.

You don't try Dark Souls, Dark Souls trys you. It's not gonna hold your hand and rub your belly and get you a warm glass of milk. It's not gonna try and impress you and be your friend and add you on facebook. If you're not 100% ready to go through hell don't even bother.

I think you're taking it a bit seriously. Its a game. And there was a demo at E3.

The point is to have fun, for some people (including me) having a challenge makes something fun. It has to be a video game to be fun however, challenges are not very fun in real life haha.
