Hello, I need you to explain whats so good about HL2 because I just don't get it..I've tried and tried to enjoy it but its a very boring game imo. It is a FPS that explorse its environment, character, story and veritility gameplay wise very well. It puts you into an alian invasion and a little guy with big shoes to fill.
In short...Halo tells you that their is an alien Invasion, Half life 2 shows it to you, lets you walk through it with great characters as well and gives you many way that guns to kill them with.

Oh, how untrue this is. Its gunplay and AI is downright lousy, and the pacing is jacked due to certain sections going for much longer than necessary. You can only consider it exceptional in storytelling and atmosphere.

Really.? The only fun weapon is the crossbow..And the gravity guns sucks. Any gun you can use pick up saw blade and decapitate someone does not suck.

If your at the sand monster part, then it's made clear already. They even show you the alien leader after you get the suit. You even talk to some aliens that are trying to help you as you escape the city.

No i didnt play HL1..Im not a PC gamer I didn't play HL1 and I got the full story from HL2.
It isn't. Half-Life 2 is extremely boring. The vehicle segment of the game is just facepalm worthy and the gunplay is so boring. It's overrated and I consider it one of the worst FPS games that I played.

The gravity gun is extremely inventive and does a lot for the game. Its one of the most iconic and fun weapons in any game. Other games have copied it at some stage too. I honestly don't know how you find the game boring. I thought it was awesome

Eveyone already told you. You aren't paying attention.
Its one of the only games i completely then immediately replayed it again...twice! It sucks you in like few other games can manage and its level design is absolutely top drawer....I never felt bored of it! That said I can see how some people with questionable attention spans would be more suited to games like call of duty and would not enjoy playing this game! Probably the same type of people who play Crysis like any other shooter and therefore think it sucks....

Not at all, I found both vehicular sections to be very enjoyable and they broken up the combat sections quite well.
Being pursued by that chopper in the airboat section for so long, and then finally destroying it at the end was one of the most satisfying moments in the game for me.
According to pc gamers it invented physics and also is responsible for the clique-ish hipster scene glasses. Those two reasons alone are enough to warrant best game all time.

Thank you! The first one was fine. The second one was just their to show you how bad the world got.
HL2 was considered good because it didn't rely on just craming every level full of respawning enemies and scripted set pieces, giving the player time to actually think about where they are and what they are doing, rather than just running through each level, pointing at stuff and killing it (Call of Duty style). As well as mixing in some puzzles and vehicle sections which help break up the pace of the game and add some variety.
Things that i would prefer more FPS games to do in their single player campaigns, rather than just relying on fast paced action to keep the game exciting.
It's always nice to go back and play through Half-Life 2 once in a while. It's such a stark contrast to today's Call of Dutyfied FPS experience, where you can't even have a conversation with an NPC wihout being locked in one position and forced to look at the scripted events the game throws at you every two minutes.
Games like Half-Life 2 and the original Far Cry, solid, meaty shooters is what I miss these days in the genre.

im a huge pc gamer and i cant stand hl2 :( i find it super boring. but i can see how it left its mark years back. imo i would take like the halo series over it.
