WHY is Halo 3 Treated as the Messiah when Gears Is Sooo much better

Dont get me wrong, I play Halo 2 online a lot, but I just dont honestly get the massive massive hype for this game. I mean its good but not THAT good. Gears on the other hand is a different story, Gears in my book is more revolutionary then Halo, Halo is just your typical cliche First person shooter with ok graphics while Gears looks and plays amazing! Ive owned Gears for four months now and I still love it to this day and everytime I play it im just in amazement by how good the graphics are in that game. When I First played Gears the first thing that went through my mind was "THIS is one amazing game" but when I first played Halo I thought "Pretty fun, but why the hype"

It just kind of saddens me how Average games like Halo get so much hype while other great games such as the MGS 4 and Mass effect are going to be so much better on so many levels yet people dont seem to care whatsoever about those games.

True. The story to Halo 2 was excellent, but the gameplay just wasnt there.

I agree with Halo being (well above) average, and Gears being much better, but the lems will never agree... Halo is what made them lems...

How can you judge or make such a statement before a game has even been released?

gears is too sluggish and restricted.  halo has so much more freedom, you feel like you can do anything and go anywhere.

plus...in gears.....you will never get any headshots while you are flying through the air.......cuz you are always on the ground. :)

It's not even that, Gears of War's multiplayer is just so devoid of options it's not even funny. It doesn't help things that pretty much every match played can be summarized as "everyone runs to the center of the map and fires their shotguns a bunch."

Sword cancelling works too, it does wonders in maps like Turf.

Halo has a great story, it's just the ending to Halo 2 that everyone bashes. Gears has a decent story too, the only problem is most of said story never actually made it into the game. Hell, if you had never seen any of the early trailers, you'd probably not even know that Gears doesn't actually take place on Earth.

The story for Halo was great. You know you don't need to be purely original to have a great story right? The cast of characters, the setting etc all contribute to Halo having a really engaging story.

The Half Life series has always been thought of as having the better story. I disagree. Half Life/Half Life 2 have better story telling. Halo and Halo 2 have the better story.

What are you talking about? Gears is even more shallow of a game than Halo2. The sole reason people like it and play it is because of the visuals and stupid animations.... Even thought they are 2 different genres gears is not even in the same league as halo both are better than gears and halo 3 will have better graphics.

When will people learn that Halo 1 came out in 2001, and showed the world on how a fps should be done...............Hell it even showed up Most PC shooters, infact the only one it didnt show up at that time was Half Life 1(which is debatable)

go and play some pc fps and halo wont seem so good.  halo has noting on your average pc shooter, yes on consoles its above average but not on pc

well farcry pc has much better gameplay than halo. halo is just your average coridor shooter while farcry is openended with nonlinear levels

True that, mainly why bungie is putting a hugh focus on making sure the halo 3's multiplayer can live up and improve the formula.

far cry is one of the worst FPS's i have ever played.  i could only handle a couple hours of it.

If you have played both and you seriously think Gears is a better game than Halo 1/2, excluding graphics obviously, then I think you just don't have a clue as to what makes a great game.

Gears is a pretty good game with great graphics but Halo 1/2 are trully great games, and they did more for gaming that Gears ever will...
