The same reason why people hate on Metal Gear and Final Fantasy.
Popularity leads to criticism and hate.

This phenomenon happens in video games, sports, politics, everything. Some people feel it necessary to hate on what's popular.

I like MW it's just that I hate cheap deaths. I.E. Walking thru a doorway only to be greeted by a grenade b/c the player who threw itknew someone would be there. That drives me crazy. Also I feel like you have to actually work to get a kill in Halo, as opposed to COD, where you just pull the trigger once and VOILA you have a kill.

Or if people don't like it and it's popular they're annoyed at it's "undeserved" attention.
they like to see the best fall if they dont own that system and if its a sucess they still call it a medicore game (this doesnt only apply to halo but all games in general)
This board will make you THINK that Halo is hated..but it's obviously not. Every release is widely anticipated. The millions and millions of people who love the series will continue to love the series.
I'm not saying EVERY 360 user loves HALO, just like not EVERY PS3 user likes MGS or Killzone 2. But 9.9 times out of 10, if there is Halo hate in system wars, it comes from someone with a ps3 tag in their sig.
Halo isn't the most hated franchise.
Or if people don't like it and it's popular they're annoyed at it's "undeserved" attention.

This right here. It's nothing new. It's usually really easy to tell apart those who just hate compared to those who have actual criticisms about a game though. The same reason why people hate on Metal Gear and Final Fantasy.

I didn't care for Halo ODST at all, and I played it on my roommate's 56" 1080p plasma TV with surround sound. I still preferred playing Halo 1 on SD TVs back in the day over Halo ODST.
Fanboys hate Halo, of course you have people who just hate it cause it's not they're thing but it's easy to spot which category they are in.
Simple reason let me explain:
Halo: Combat Evolved (aka Halo 1) EXCELLENT. story, reveloutionary gameplay (2 people in the same vehicle in split screen, etc) and fun
Halo 2: okay. story was meh, graphics weremeh (to shiny)some new features , online with good match making, all in all decent but not as good as #1
Halo 3: Bad. Terrible story, graphics meh (WAY TOO SHINY!), Online was the same, no improvements really, very few new features. M$ milked it. Simple
See my point? if not, sucks to be you.

Cool fad post bro.
Because one thing is hyping something good. Other thing is over-hyping something while exaggerating how good it is. The people that hate are doing the same thing than the people that over-hype, they exaggerate, but obviously the focus on the weaknesses. Why these people that hate care is up to debate, as well as why the people over-hype.
I don't hate Halo..it is certainly solid game. However, I do believe it is overrated and it gets on my nerves when people who don't know anything about videogames outside of Halo, Gears, CoD, and Guitar Hero/Rock Band try to convince me that it is the greatest game/series ever.
I already have trouble liking most FPS games, and Halo did not really offer me anything different than what I would bet getting with the thousands of other shooters on the market. For me to get into an FPS game, there needs to be a hook, such as the exploration and almost Zelda-like elements of Metroid Prime, or the cel-shaded graphics and Diablo-like loot system in Borderlands.

lol catfight!
other people said it best. success and haters are a combo package. its best just to ignore them because generally their opinions are garbage anyway.
Well i was a die hard Xbox fanboy at one point, then after halo3, i went to pc and never looked back (except at GTA:IV; Lost and the damned, the ONLY redemming feature of GTA:IV, Bring back San andreas!)
seems like you just buy into gimmicks honestly.I don't hate Halo..it is certainly solid game. Haha, zing!i think it most of it stems from last gen most had ps2 and halo andhalo 2 came out and it was just so much better then anything on ps2, especially the multiplayer ps2 had nothing like it

You missed the next part.......where I mention the loot system which is similar to what you find in Diablo..the graphics were a plus for me because I prefer cel-shaded...
How are Metroid Prime or Borderlands gimmicks..?

cool fad user name bro.dude do you do nothing but bash halo? I've seen you post this exact comment 3 times before..... and BTW FYI Halo ODST looks atleast 8 times better than halo CE I'm not bashing halo CE as it is one of my favorite games ever but putting it above an obviously better looking one is plain stupid go play your Ps3 on your friends TV.I didn't care for Halo ODST at all, and I played it on my roommate's 56" 1080p plasma TV with surround sound. Yes, it's good. It doesn't need to be worshipped like some sort of entity. Plus Halo as a franchised overshadow other good fps/games. I think Halo fans need to venture more outside of halo.CookigakiI have played and enjoyed other shooters in the past. Am I still not allowed to like Halo even though I agree it isn't the best?
The ridiculous hype is what makes people hate it. PannicAtack
yeah, Halo gets ridiculous amounts of hype. I could understand hype for the first Halo, but Bungie hasn't done anything to get excited about since the original Halo.
