Maybe this is just me, but I think it is great that more people get to experience more games. I hear people here say all the time "Why get a 360 when I can play games like Halo and Gears of War on my PC?" My answer: I hope you do and experience some great games, unless you are a fan boy who is just trying to make their console of choice look better. I think it is a pretty cool thing that I can play Gears or Halo online with my 360 against someone on their PC.

It really dose not bother me that some games on the 360 will be on PC, it is not like I share in any of the profit or anything. I play games because they are fun and could care less who else can also play it. so call me crazy but that is what I think.

People feel that once a game becomes multiplatform, it looses it's value.

It's not bad at all. Cows just like to pretend they all have high-end PCs which can run Gears of War to 360 standards, therefore there's no point getting an xbox as they can play all of the games a year or so later on the mythical PCs which they dont own.

True, but why is it so damageing to MS? They obvioulsy are not hurting if they keep porting there big games like Halo or Gears to PC.

Dont you need Vista (MICROSOFT) to run most of these 360 ported (Crysis too) games on a PC?

Why get an Xbox 360 and be limited to only 360 games when I can get a PC games and play titles from both platforms. And with superior visuals.

Costly hardware, sure. But not paying for the console or XBL in the first place makes up for it.

its not bad, only fanboys who want it only on their system or fanboys who are grasping for straws care. Microsfot makes money on Gears of War both ways, so they don't give a damn about internet fanboys.

we have a winner here.

every cow you run into claims that there is no point in getting a 360 because all good games for it come to the PC eventually. well that's true, but what does that do for the playstation3? it's getting ported to the PC!! not the PS3.

also they all seem to cower behind the PC when majority of them do not own a high end one.

then you have those guys who claim you don't have to buy a expensive PC to run these games. I can guarantee you that HALO 3 (if/when it comes to PC, will be on Vista, requiring at least 1.5/2 gigs of ram, and a decent DX10 card.) a decent DX10 card cost roughly $300, and if you want to even run Oblivion or Stalker at a decent framerate with all the bells and whistles, you will beed to get the 640mb versionwhich cost roughly $400. Face it, cost of upgrading or buying a whole new PC to run games like Geow is >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> and cost of anyconsole.

Does MS make money when people buy an Intel CPU? How about an Nvidia GPU? Or Corsair RAM? Or a Seagate HDD? No... they don't. They only make money off the Operating System and game software. They lose all the money they could have made from the 360.

Actually if you look at it this way they don't loose money at all. They've already got the money you speak of from 360 owners. They then gain more money and expand their market to pc gamers when said pc gamers "purchase" any game they've published or brought to games for windows.

It's just losing exclusives. While it doesn't affect me much as gamer who will play it anyways, it does take away bullet points from the console makers. Not a big deal.

This is true. However, you will need a certain OS sytem to run the game, an OS that Microsoft just happens to own. Regardless of which direction you go, a lot of money is going in Microsoft's pocket. So let's see what the better alternative is. $400 for a 360 and maybe XBL $50, or $1000+ for a gaming PC and $200+ for Windows Vista. I can tell you who the clear winner is here. And in reality, it isn't consumers. But as for which is the better value, I think the prices speak for themselves. And don't bring up the 3 rings of death because that is now covered under warranty.

I don't think it is bad for MS at all. They make money off of both versions either way. I don't think it matters to the console owners either. The majority of console owners don't have gaming PCs and to give a good example, just go look at GTA3 and GTA: Vice City. Both games were on the PS2 and PC, yet they were considered PS2 exclusives for the longest time, but sold a lot more PS2s than gaming PCs and sold millions of more copies on the PS2 than PC. It is like a double standard. If a PS game goes to the PC, it is no big deal, but if a XBOX game goes to the PC, it is considered a huge deal by some. I don't get it.

It isn't going to affect the sales of the console or the title itself. The PC version almost always sells less then the console version, unless of course it is made for the PC first, ala Half-Life games, UT games, etc. If the game comes out for the console first, it is embedded in the minds of gamers that the game is apart of that console, especially if that gamehas been exclusive on the console for a year or more before they even make it to the PC. By then, no one cares much and the obvious examplewould be to look at the sales.

Because it provides one less reason to buy a 360. If somebody (like me) already owns a relatively nice pc, they can just buy the games for pc instead of buying a 360.

The whole point of System Wars is to dicuss the war between the systems. Which one will win, why it will win, etc. 360 games going to the PC are not helping the 360 win the System War.

It's not hard at all to get a box that's superior in specs to a 360. I wrote a whole thread on it over the weekend. Check my history to find it.

The 360 won't necessarily break. Mine hasn't and there is a warranty so the fear of having to pay for repairs shouldn't be a problem. You are just finding an excuse not to have a 360? That's okay, but why do you have to insist on making such a fuss when you have no intention or desire to ever own a 360 in the first place. The thing is, whatever problem the 360 has, no matter how insignicant or petty, or how severe, you will always find some excuse not to get one. Why don't you just cut the BS now and just admit that you won't buy a 360 because you are a Sony fanboy?

Whurt? :? Games for Windows is a platform, just like the xbox 360. Just like Windows XP and Mac were platforms. To release a game on it, you have to pay licensing fees. It's a business. I dont see how they're losing money on them at all. In fact, did Peter Moore not say that the great thing about the PC side of things is that its pure, simple, selling games for profit as opposed to consoles which require taking a loss here, or making an investment there, so that you have a long-term money making strategy.

The whole point of System Wars is to dicuss the war between the systems. Which one will win, why it will win, etc. 360 games going to the PC are not helping the 360 win the System War.

[QUOTE="Vandalvideo"][QUOTE="_outsida_"]Actually if you look at it this way they don't loose money at all. They've already got the money you speak of from 360 owners. They then gain more money and expand their market to pc gamers when said pc gamers "purchase" any game they've published or brought to games for windows.Ninja-Vox

Actually, Games for Windows is a viral marketing campaign MICROSOFT pays for. So technically.....they lose money on GFW titles.

Whurt?

Actually, thats NOT what it is. Games for Windows is a viral marketing campaign paid for by Microsoft to push brand reconigition of Vista. Pure and simple.

[QUOTE="Ibacai"]Think of it this way. It's just as bad as PS3 exclusives going to the 360.Dualshockin

How So?

[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Because you won't need to pay MS for hardware to play the games.Dualshockin
Right on the money. No need to go through the Ring Of Death just to play Gears Of War,is how I see it.

You do realize that MS just put out a three year warranty on that right?

1)When a console loses an exclusive,it hurts sales. 2)Why should I buy a console knowing that it will break?

1) yes it hurts sale, but not as damaging because it's not like Geow is coming to the PS3 or something. PC and 360 are NOT in direct competition with each other.

2) that didn't stop 100+ million people from buying the PS2, did it?

Do they?

If someone compiles a program to work on a Windows platform, do they also have to pay a licensing fee?

where did you get that nonsense? Microsoft is paying gaming DEVS not the other way around. If people chose to buy the pc version ahead of the 360 and thus not buying a 360 for it. This WILL damage the 360, because microsoft isn't as powerful as people make them out to be. If the 360 sells badly they will be forced to pull of the console market.

the 360 won't necessarily break. Why don't you just cut the BS now and just admit that you won't buy a 360 because you are a Sony fanboy?DrinkDuff
"Wont necessarily break".With over 30% failure, tell me how that sounds to a person shopping for a secondary console. I had an Xbox 1+GC last-gen,what makes you think I own consoles based on loyalty to a company?

But you all realise that current 360 owners don't care if the games go to pc right? And I would think that the typical person going into a store, to make a decision on which console to buy (360 PS3 Wii) doesn't take games going to the pc platform into account either.

[QUOTE="HSYOON_1"]stop hiding behind the PC, because Geow will NEVER come out for the PS3. BTW, what are you PC specs?Dualshockin
Hiding behind the PC?Sorry,if the game is multiplat it's multiplat, doesn't matter what platform it's appearing on. Why do you want to know my PC specs?

I want to know because most likely, your PC is NOT running vista with DX10. More than likely most cows who use your logic do not have a PC good enough to run games like Geow
