Why is it that PS4 has much less games than the PS2 and X360 despite selling as much?

PS2 in its second year (2002) had Kingdom Hearts, Sly Cooper 1, Socom, R&C, The Getaway, Medal of Honor: Frontline etc.

X360 in its second year (2007) had Halo 3, Crackdown, Forza Motorsport 2, Mass Effect, Shadowrun, Bioshock, PGR4 etc.

PS4 in its second year (2015) has Bloodborne and a few remasters?

Those games were exclusive when they launched on PS4 too, they count as much as Mass Effect or Bioshock, both of which had announcements of PC versions already made even before they released

Going my metacritic PS4 has about 400 games available right now? How many games did PS2 and 360 have in the same time frame?

By the end of 2007 (so, about three months more taken into account than PS4 has right now), Xbox 360 had 318 games listed on Metacritic.

PS2 had 248 games by the end of 2002 (so again, three months ahead of PS2).

@cinematicgalore: perhaps you're too young to understand games are a business. Especially now with games being in HD, having larger cinematic themes and elements, voice actors, ect all adds up to the overall price to produce a game.

Development cycles are a lot slower now than they were then because of these factors. In the 90s game could be produced by the same developer year after year, ps2 it became a 2 year cycle, now were getting more of a 3-4 year cycle.

We're talking about exclusives, X360 and PS2 have more exclusives and better quality exclusives than the PS4.

PS4 in 2015 has Witcher 3, MGS V, Bloodborne which have already been hailed as some of the best games ever. There's also the 2014 games like Dragon Age, Shadow of Mordor, and more. So if you think that ps2 and xbox 360 were better in their respective years then you're just trolling or really clueless.
