I know its a straight sut and paste from the other thread, but i hope this gives you an idea of why its hyped.

"We feel like we hardly scratched the surface of the builder tools in our time with the game, and we can't wait to get a chance to really dig in and go nuts with them. After watching various users play LittleBigPlanet, our initial concerns about how much people who didn't care about creating levels would be interested in the game seemed unwarranted. User-created levels tap into a whole personal element above and beyond simply being "more to play with," and we figure that the better you know the creator, the stronger that connection becomes: Imagine receiving a special level from your friend wishing you a happy birthday. Since it's so easy to bang out levels, we have to wonder whether other game designers will make LittleBigPlanet levels just for fun -- publically, or perhaps as just a little secret on the side."

"Seriously, I could talk all day about how amazing this game seems like it's going to be, but you won't know the joys of making your Sackboy hold his breath until he explodes, using the PlayStation Eye to make an in-game sticker, or any of the other cool stuff until the game's global launch in October."

"Though our expectations are already high for LittleBigPlanet, the game seems to be keeping up with, and often surpassing, those expectations each time we see it. We're greatly looking forward to seeing more of the game in action, as well as to spending some extended time with it to let our creative juices flow. Hopefully the wait won't be too long--and you can be sure we'll keep you updated with the latest news on the game in the coming months."

"It's going to be fascinating to watch LittleBigPlanet go head to head with that other poster-boy for the community-creation age, Spore, when they both release this September. Spore might be more successful by virtue of its platform and pedigree, but at the moment, the PS3 game looks the more coherent, consistent, easy to grasp, rewarding and just plain lovable. It may not be the biggest PS3 release this year, but one thing's for sure, it's absolutely the most important."
Plus, check out the video links from GameTrailers i posted earlier. The gaming media seems to be hyping it more than the fanboys right now.
Dude look at some videos
I mean its just...cant explain but in this game YOU CAN DO ANYTHING. Think it and it's there. I can't really tell If your trying to rip the game or not or If this is serious but the whole thing is just nailed and its not even done yet. GOTY contender I'll tell you that
its something different. its something unlike almost anything else out there. it promotes creativity and allows you to do so much. plus the graphics are quirky and cool! whats not to like?
I love the idea of creating your own stage but other than that the gameplay looks rather generic and boring.TMontana1004Would expect nothing less from your, we all know your 100% lemming, why aren't you on your 360 playing your superior games?

I don't know what your talking about because I am not 100% lemming. I am a little biased towards the PS3 but I am in no way shape or form a lemming. I have not only been a nintendo fan for years, but have owned previous Playstation platforms and loved all of the games. Just because this game doesn't interest me, that doesn't make a me a fanboy. I would love to have a PS3 for Socom, FF13, and backwards compatible titles, but I simply don't have the money at the time. Falsely accuse me all you want but I am no lemming. Used to be, gave it up.
Seems no-one checked the videos before.
The level making is a major part of the game, but its far more than just platforming. There are races, co-op, online leaderboards, level gifting, a story mode, etc, which all then give you more stuff to play around with in the builder. This, added to the unlimited amount of potential additional levels to download, gives a great deal of replay value and enjoyment if the previews are to be believed.
I honestly dont know how people just assumed it was going to be "make level, complete level, game finished".

Yep. Absolutely right. Most people here seem to think that all you can do in LBP is make your own levels.
I'm personally more excited for LBP than I have ever been for any other game in my 14 years of gaming. Bear in mind that Metal Gear is my favourite game series of all time and you might just realise how big a statement that is.
building stages in 2D worlds with quirky graphics seems to be the only thing to do, it's one of those games that are pretty but doesn't really have much to it.borgmaster
If I remember correctly, from the previews on X-play, it's also a 2-D platformer.
what are fans looking forward to? coz I'm really not seeing anything attractive there. do u just build things and share or is there more to it?Great_Ragnarok
From what Ive seen, it deserves more hype than GTA IV, MGS IV or GeoW 2. At least its about more than endless cutscenes, killing hookers, shooting aliens and stealth. Honestly don't get the fascination with games featuring guns, stealth and aliens. There are far too many on the market. It's time we got more games like Beautiful Katamari, LBP, Animal Crossing and Zack & Wiki instead.
If it turns out to be crap, at least its a change.

you get to jump around your 2D stages?!?!!?!?? G0TY!! for sure!
I could care less about the building part. Since I suck at making levels and have ADD when it comes to sitting at a screen.
The fun for me is going to come from the fact that 3 other people can tag along with me. Looking forward to some creative maps people make too.

[QUOTE="lolkie_81"]Dosent appeal to me. You build a level then what?darkslider99
Wow, thanks for clearing that up. I know you play it, but the gameplay I have seen dosent look fun......so you build the level "the fun part," then what...... lets build walls, steps, fire, ice, and electric pits and jump over them........
yeah I agree the level of customization seems really interesting but whats the gameplay about??Great_Ragnarok
You play your created levels or you can play the preloaded levels single or co-op. The thought that you can create a layout like SuperMario Nintendo era in 2D and updated colors is amazing of course with a sackboy in stead of Mario but hey maybe you can put a red cap on.

Please dont act like you dont know their are also puzzles involved you have to maybe lift a rock up high with a jet pack to push down on a lever to open a gate etc..

I forgot about that, like I said before I am going to try this game. Its just not the type of game I normally play. I def wouldnt hype it yet

thats pretty good I must say. but I think people are hyping this way too early. none of us have seen the gameplay mechanics yet. (the playing parts not the building parts).

Yea some people might not hype it yet but some will. Iam hyping it because I can see the potential and from what the previews are saying it definitely is deep in items and mechanics.

well you can't blame them when all the previews of the game say really good stuff about the game.
its innovative from what i see-GhostMLD-
Ghost must have been hit on the head, because isnt he usually spewing nonsense? :P....
Joking but anyway, yeah its basically because of that reason. I mean, everyone who has played it or seen it in live action has had their breath taken away. Plus its doing something that just seems to work. It can be casual friendly but then it has way more depth that lies simply in your imagination. You can have levels ranging from a box with LOL on it, to having a level that surpasses the devs ideas. It has also managed to not seem too kiddy but keep that "cute" feeling at the same time(music, sackboy, physics). It just has everything down pat. Gameplay is based soley on physics and nothing scripted also which really has my jaw dropped. Imo, If it isnt mgs4 that makes you want a ps3, it should be this.
Not really. People who do that are just hypocrites. They both look like damn good games.Bash Banjo and turn around and hype LBP
And I failing to see something here?

Create your own stage? YOU CREATE YOUR OWN EVERYTHING :D
Use a variety of materials, along with basic shapes and various motors and simple machines, the sky's the limit. With enough patience you could probably build a working car...
Well, it's the sole reason I'm even considering a PS3...so take that as you will.goblaa
Same. Whenever I hear accounts of people who have actually played demos, you'd think it was the second coming of Christ. These aren't people who have seen the game, or read about the game. These are people who have actually played it, and they can't say enough good things.

Disagreed.
1. LBP and Banjo are 2 different types of games, dont know why they are even being compared in the first place.
2. Banjo is incredible, but quite frankly, I am extremely worried about where the new one is heading(last time i was worried about this was with Fallout and ES IV, and look what happened there). Am i still excited for it? Yes, but do i think it looks like a good game? Not right now.

Both platformers that offer you the ability to do it how you want. I can and will compare them and the hypocrites I find along the way.
Why do people hype it? Well everyone obviously has their own taste in games. So just because its not the type of game that would interest you doesn't mean everyone feals the same way about it.EnergyAbsorber
erm what? I never bashed the game I only want to know why it's hyped! so maybe I can find it as interesting as some ppl here. and no one really asnwerd my question. I asked you what the gameplay is not the building parts! its all good to have high level of customization but what does that lead to??? what are the gameplay mechanics?
