Why is Microsoft not held to the same standards as other companies?

People have to realize that these quotes aren't simply coming from forum fanboys. Pretty much every single one of these quotes come from Microsoft's own PR during conferences or in the media:

RRoD and other various hardware issues - "well, it's not that big of a problem" or "at least we have a warranty" or "PS2 used to fail all the time!" Microsoft denied the very existence of RRoD for quite a while, and only after threats of lawsuit enacted the warranty. Despite multiple claims of "the newest version of the system is fixed", the 360 still suffers from a wide variety of common hardware failures.

Xbox LIVE fees - "Live is better Live is better Live is better Live is better!" Microsoft constantly touts how Xbox Live is superior to anything else.

Microsoft supporting HD-DVD - "HD DVD baby! I love these high def movies so much!"

Microsoft dropping HD-DVD - "whatever I play my 360 for games not movies." Microsoft says "360 is for games not movies!"http://www.gamespot.com/news/6186204.html

Other companies show off awesome graphics - "who cares about graphics? Gameplay is better than graphics!"

It's commonly accepted that you are nothing but a "fanboy" if you don't admit Haze and Lair were flops. It's commonly accepted that you are nothing but a "fanboy" if you think PSN has more features than Xbox Live. However, why do gamers apply such incredibly low standards to Microsoft?

Those excuses are exactly the same used by PS3 and Wii fans.

Let me ask this...Why is Microsoft the one true evil to you? do you know Nintendo actaully bullied retail outlets into not carrying sega products? bullied developers into not developing for the sega systems? Sony did the same thing with retail stores I believe.

when it comes down to it i personally have liked the 360s game lineup better that ps3s and i put up with the crap to play the games, the same as i have done with sony.

I just can't understand it, I'm lemming freaking general yet even I know all fanboys say things and do things, hell I'm guilty of it even but atleast I can admit it. I'm biased as hell and no one can stop me..

Sony denied DRE even existed maintained that stance till they were sued and they settled out of court *and the settlement was quite bunk* and even after they were sued they still maintained that DRE didn't exist and never managedto squish it it exists even today but in a drastically small percentage.
Thats right Sony was SUED and settled out of court...that means they were sued, it was seen before a judge and instead of letting it go to full court they settled the settlement only applied to people whom had had their systems fixed *for 150 dollars* and they were offered pittling 40 or so dollars back, or a game.

Microsoft was unsuccessfully sued it never went to court they implimented a 3 year replacement warranty, refunded back the money of any one before that time that had paid to get the 360 fixed, then later extended that to e74 and refunded people their money whom paid for that...

As for the "360 is doomed" articles you are talking about. The 360 is still selling, the PS3 wasn't selling very well at that point, therefore the PS3 seemed to be doomed because Sony was losing money.

Microsoft is still making money on the 360, therefore it'll still be supported. Some people were predicting Sony would stop supporting the PS3 because they were losing money hand over fist. I don't remember these articles you're talking about, however I'm sure that's why they were made.

2) Bashing sony for only showing CGI trailers for games, etc. But then cheering every Halo teaser, which is CGI and often claiming they are in game graphics. And dare I also bring up the Perfect Dark Zero debacle which the fanboys insisted the earliest pics were actual in-game graphics.

3) And let's not forget all Sony bashing for the past 10 years about how Sony just milks all their fans because they are a greedy corporation, but MS is great because they bundle everything into the console. This gen when Sony bundles everything they are accused of being greedy for launching the console at too high a price but MS is great for offering their customers the choice to buy stuff seperately if/when they need it.

I dont even have a ps3, i have a 360, and the PS3 lineup this year is absolutely amazing!

Hey this thread has become fanboy wars...this is SYSTEM wars. And btw. It has become too easy to bash microsoft now, it's not even funny anymore. So we let it slide and enjoy superior gaming like that on PS3 or even more superior PC. This is what happens when a software company decides to make hardware. They still need to mature and are still in a learning process, maybe they'll live up to Sony's or Nintendo's standards when next gen comes by.
