Is it because the PS3 can't handle the higher framerate requires to move a game like motorstorm at a fast pace?

Compared to Burnout Revenge, Motorstorm is about as fast as Bump N Jump.

I tried playing it at a coworkers' house the other day and while it looks VERY nice...you can tell that it's not exactly "true life" speed.  Everything is slighly slower than normal...as if it's running at 0.8x speed.  You can really tell when your vehicle gets launched in the air...you seem to "float".  Everything just seems really sluggish.

When I played Burnout Revenge, my first reaction was complete amazement at the sense of speed in the game.  I mean...the word "fast" doesn't begin to describe it.  With Motorstorm...it reminded me of being stuck in molasses.

I think motorstorm is being hyped as AA, we'll just have to wait for an official hype thread.

Motorstorm is anything but slow; if it were any faster it would be difficult to finish a race without crashing every 5 seconds.

You would last a minute in this games terain if it was any faster. YOu'd crash alot more than burnout, and that would suck because this game isn't burnout and you don't get rewarded for crashes.

One of the games high above the rest important features is the physics. You do make crashes in Burnout, but you mostly see them in small cinematics, why do you think that is? Motorstorm speed is not only realistic IMO for this type of racing game, but its also very important to show the glamour of the many different ways you can lead your adversary to his doom.

if it feels like that, it's because you haven't played it long enough. think about it like Halo 2. People thought that was slow as hell. Especially Unreal Tournament fans. But when you get used to it, it feels just fine. same applies here.

I agree Motorstorm felt a tad slow for me, and the falling off the track was annoying.

it could be faster. to suggest that i'd be "too difficult" just tells us how BAD at this game you are; not how challenging the game is. I guess neither of you should ever even TOUCH Burnout or F-Zero. :|

again, you have to play it more than 5 minutes before offering up your opinion. you fall off the track because you've not played it enough to know where the bounds are. it'd be like playing GranTurismo or Forza for 5 minutes, then complaining that you can't keep from hitting the walls. Everything isn't so easy that you pick it up in 30 seconds.

Again, it was boring, even for 5-10 minutes spend. I'd rather hit the walls and maintain my speed then fall off track and respawn.

I think the game IS harder than it should be.  Because of the slow motion that's always prevalent, you never have a good idea of speed.  So you take turns too late (because you can't tell how fast you're really going)...jumps seem to launch you ever FURTHER than you think they should (because you are going faster than you appear), etc.

For a game that relies so much on physics, it ruins the effect if you don't get an accurate representation of how fast you are going.

So, either the developers made a bonehead move regarding the play speed, or the PS3 can't handle motorstorm at a higher rate than what it's already at.

Let me ask you this...what other racing game can you think of where the action is "slowed down"?

Slow? Are you talking about the Demo? The final game is much faster than the demo and a new faster demo is coming out soon

Don't worry, this is just part of the regular lem damage control... I couldn't imagine them trying to make the game too much faster. It's awesome as is.

I suppose you should be blaming poor track and physics creation then, as speed works great in Burnout and Full Auto.

Just to let everyone know...I have NO idea what the final version is going to be like (nor does anyone else in here).  It may be faster, it may stay the same.

All I'm saying is that, RIGHT NOW, on a PS3 with the downloadable demo of Motorstorm, it is most definitely in slight slow motion.

Well I'm all for it, something out of the norm that is......... Its definitelly more satisfying for me to see a player crash into a house in all its glory and witnessing what consequences that will do in the game, then not having the chance of doing so, because the high speed would simply not let you.

I have Burnout 2, 3, and 4 mind you and those games are cakewalk.  The Burnout series may be #1 in speed but the tracks are very linear (with the exception of Burnout 4); in Motorstorm you're all over the place.  Not to mention the physics in Motorstorm are more in tune than Burnout.

Anyway, the speed of the game feels just right. I think there's more challenge in navigating the course than actually beating the competition (cpu anyway), but other than that it really is an awesome racing experience. The physics and the driving feel more realistic than any other I've ever experienced for this type of racing game. The boost feels very good also... you can't take turns with the boost on as is. So I really don't think it needs to be any faster... feels good as is.

The demo isn't even slow... it feels right. Anyway, IGN has already reported that it has been sped up some on the latest build they tried.

But if the game feels slow to you, maybe it's because you never get to go for a long enough stretch before crashing :? It actually moves at a very good pace.

i think racing games that are as fast as burnout are to be frank gay sure you drive fast in these games but they always cut back on the skill required to play them, they never feel like your driving something its more like your controlling the track in burnout i cant stand that feeling of being disconnected from what your supposed to be driving

Sounds like you just want to play burnout revenge. I dunno, i just dont agree with any of these slow mo arguements. Specially with boost. Feels like your going increadibly fast.
