Why is nobody talking about Spiderman?

I thought the trailer was amazing (see what I did), the gameplay looked fluid, and the graphics/animations looked like some of the best of this gen. I was thoroughly impressed. Also, being developed by the largest team ever at Insomniac gives me hope that it will be a great game.

Anyone with some real thoughts about this?

It looks good but what is there to talk about? This was the problem with Sony's conference, there was no discussion, no information, they didn't actually talk about any games, or anything in general for that matter.

Because they didn't show anything about it yet. Wasn't that a completely CG trailer?

Has there ever been a good Spiderman game on any platform?

Not everyone likes Spiderman either, take me for example.

If anyone can make a good Spidy game then I believe Insomniac has the best chance so far, like always time will tell.

"In engine" is a very dangerous terminology that in essentially all cases mean's it's not representative of the way the game plays or how it will actually look. Mortal Kombat X's trailer was done in engine for example, and we all know the game doesn't play or look like this, it's a substantial step backwards from this.

In engine basically just means they made a CG video at the very top of the spectrum using the highest end configuration of engine running the game.

If the game looks like the trailer, I'll be amazed.

My mistake, they said in-game not in-engine. It was also confirmed to be running in real-time on current PS4 hardware.

With games like Uncharted 4 and Ratchet & Clank (by the very same devs as this) on the PS4, I dunno why people are screaming CG at this trailer. *shrugs*

Where did you see this, because that was most certainly pre-rendered, it's just like those fake videos on the internet of crazy things trying to fool people, the motion and animation doesn't look right.

I just don't buy that, not because it looked too technically impressive or anything, but it just came off very pre-rendered in the way it played out motion/animation wise, do you know what I mean?

Im fucking hyped

1) You've got one trailer and nothing indicative of actual gameplay

2) We've all been burned by licensed games - the presumption that it will be terrible takes a lot to be overcome

Spiderman as a property also just went through two terrible movies brought on by an unnecessary reboot and is being rebooted once again. The game appears to be mirroring the acting direction, too, so it's wholly proper that we let it play itself out at this point.

If Insomniac can do for Spidey what Rocksteady did for Batman, I'll demand the date of their founding be made a national holiday.

For me? Because it's Spiderman.

I believe some here lie and do not remember the impact Spiderman 2 had on gaming. Is was an actual Great movie tie in game. Then Ultimate Spiderman, with flaws introduced some new things and a Marvel comics art style and additional characters.

Since then, it has been rehash and barely good stuff, imo. Not bad by any means. But we all Know what Spidey can do, so what are you going to do different, Insomniac? And the White spider was like a bullseye on his costume. It Sucked.

It looked alright, but I expected more coming from the makers of Sunset Overdrive.

I was just saying to a friend last night I thought it was actually their best looking game aside from Detroit, and I don't even like Spider-Man and I want to play it. I mean, God of War looks about as interactive as The Order 1886, Days Gone came off as open world but I'm getting some linear with scripted moments Last of Us kind of vibes from it, then there was the naked Norman Reedus thing which just wasn't interesting as it was just straight up bizarre as hell. Spideman just seemed like one of the few normal trailers at their show with something that just looks cool that I want to play, plus it also was one of the few more upbeat trailers, the rest of the show's tone felt like it was sulking in an overwhelming sense of melancholy .

I never really liked Spider-Man as a character except for maybe liking a film or two. But, hopefully this is like maybe one of those Arkham games that opens the world and character up to me in bigger ways.

Please let this be good, at least it's not made by some crappy team at Activision.

The fact that Insomnia is a competent publisher and it's not another Beenox Spider-Man is what got me excited.

Because it wasn't fucking gameplay. Gameplay is a human being playing a video game. That was a trailer, snippets of what could be gameplay, or worst case scenario "in engine" trailer, that isn't actually representative of what you will be playing. It conveys nothing, and given how many open world games we have, one whose entire hook is "well you play Spiderman" isn't that much of a hook.

Because I can't even begin to pretend to be excited for the Spiderman tailing missions.

He can dodge bullets with his spider sense, skill, speed, etc etc, so making a target won't matter.

Insomniac Games has made good stuff but Spider-man games have been mediocre at best for the past decade.

yeah last good spiderman I played was 2001 i think. This looks quite good though.

Yeah, my initial thoughts were: "Meh, a spiderman game"

But after that I read that Insomniac is behind the wheel, and that has got me interested.

Should turn out great, Insomniac is a great fit for this game I think.

I was also thinking why nobody is talking about Recore, I'm pretty excited for that. I think people are mostly thinking about the Neo/Scorpio thing

It looks cool, but eh, haven't seen enough of the game to be excited.

Most of the games that I got pumped about, and the ones that are generating discussion this E3, are the ones that got major gameplay demonstrations. That's why you're seeing Zelda, Horizon, God of War, Forza, and Battlefield dominate discussion and discourse so much.

Because Much like Sega has done with Sonic, Beenox has made Spider-Man synonymous with Shit.

Web of Shadows had it's faults, but its a phukkin masterpiece compared to the Beenox crap we've gotten the last 10 years.

Can they pull off sth like Batman Arkham games? Nope. It's gonna be a generic title , no excitement whatsoever until further notice.
