Why is PC in SW if nobody owns it?

Two reasons.

1. There is no way to track the sales of gaming PC's. PC's sell millions per month, but the majority bought are for other applications. How can we compare hardware sales with Wii/360/PS3 if we don't know it?

2. No company owns it. PC gaming is a free market. There are multiple PC manufacturers and apparently even MS's OS monopoly doesnt qualify as owning it either. If nobody owns the PC market, why is it in system wars?

My point is that consoles are ruled by Nintendo, MS, and Sony. We compare them all the time. But PC is like a black sheep, (has no owner and no way to track it).

How can it be included in the war if PC has no general?

It's mainly against PC gamers I suppose.

People with no games (Wii & PS3 owners) need to justify investing so much money on paperweights.

Contradiction much. You were fine wanting to include 360 and PC when it comes to exclusives. Its a viable format so its included here.

Its one of the foundations of SW, to compare the companies themselves that own the systems.

Either way, we also compare hardware sales, and there is no way to find that out.

it is somewhat, but having a plethora of great games can only take you so far, people have to support your console, the dreamcast had a whole crap load of great games and sega had to bid out of the console race because they didnt have enough support for the dreamcast

You were saying? I wasnt aware you made the rules.... not that you've even been here long enough to know about SW's "foundation." At this point your obvious reply is that you've been here longer and this is a newer account. It doesn't change the validity of the link i posted nor make your statements any more credible.

This is the first thing I noticed. How can you compare a console to a computer with no set hardware specifications? That makes no sense at all to me.

I know most websites have what they call console wars but here it's different. Maybe they don't want the PC gamers here to feel left out.

Many Machines, even mobiles run games, hell if your Television does these days with little sattelite minigames.

Difference is, in all major gaming sites and so forth, PC is included and recognized as one of the Titans. Thus, its in here too.

are companies really discussed outside their gaming activities ? even blu ray disccussions were not allowed although they were so crucial for sony. when was the last time people here discussed the annual results of a company ?

as far sales are concerned they are only discussed because they affect userbase and thus they affect the demand for games. for pc you can get the idea for the demand by seeing how many gaming gpus were sold etc. if you look the last thread on sales was a pc one related to number of nvidia gpus sold.

We got threads left and right comparing the 360 and PS3's 08 lineups. Why do the cows convientely leave out the 360/PC games?

They arent exclusive, HOWEVER:

1. For console gamers, those games cant be found anywhere else except 360.

2. When comparing the 360 and PS3 lineup, those games are simply and undeniabily on 360 and NOT PS3.

3. If they are good games, so what if they have a PC version? If it aint on PS3 then it deserves to be part of 360's list.

To name a few off the top of my head:

Frontlines: Fuel of war (better then Haze), Age of Conan, Left for Dead (Big game here), Supreme Commander, C&C 3: Kanes Wrath, Warhammer, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, Two Worlds: Temptation.

For a few PC/360 games listed there (much more 08 ones, they all are or have AA potential. So when comparing 360's and PS3's 08 games, throw in 360/PC and PS3/PC games as well.

Too bad there arent any PS3/PC games lol.

However, from some of the comments I've seen in system wars, there are alot of people here -- not all of course -- that desperately need to be exposed to gaming PCs as much as possible and educated by PC gamers. Seriously :P
