Why is "its coming in 2008" Lemmings favorite argument

The new MGS4 trailer said its coming in 2007, yet Lemmings keep saying its coming 2008. They do the same for several other games thats been confirmed for 2007. Why do you guys keep doing that? You don't see PS gamers saying Mass Effect is coming in 2008, or Bioshock is coming in 2008. Be more mature guys. Do you do this because you don't want PS3 to have any noteworthy games over 360?

For MGS, I believe it's because (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) MGS 4 was not listed on Konami's release schedule at all up until the end of 2007 or even into early 2008, giving the impression it may have been postponed.

For other games (such as Killzone 2) it's because either so little has been announced/displayed (can a game that hasn't had anything shown at all since 2005 reasonably be expected to release within 6 months?) or we're running out of dates in 2007 to have release dates for that they're concluding that the game must've been pushed back into '08.

Personally I don't care when the games come out, and I always take the developer/publisher's word over "leaked dates" or rumors.

I couldn't care less about reviews, especially GS reviews. Live off someone elses opinion if you wish. I feel sorry for you, you're going to miss out on a lot of good games that way.

probably because a lot of the games the 360 had coming out in 06' were pushed to 07' and it makes sense that it could happen with the ps3.. Nothing wrong with that.

What happens in the long run is going to depend on how many more people start wanting to move to better graphics, if the new gamers coming in from the Wii start going "y'know, I'd like a second system, I think I want to try Halo or Final Fantasy". It's also going to depend on who can get the all important teenagers and twenty-somethings to open their wallet - but if the 360 price cuts, it'll be hitting that market first.

To get back into first place, the PS3 not only has to convince 360 owners (the "hardcore market") that it's a better system than the 360, but it also has to convince Wii owners (the "casual market") that it can offer them a better gameplay experience on their limited budget than the Wii. Y'know what? I don't think Sony can do that in the next year (short run) - I don't even think they can do it in the long run (next four years)...

It's interesting that you brought that up, and I'm glad you did. Playstation 1 and Playstation 2made the industry grow since the days of Snes. Today, the industry is about the same size as it was in the ps2 days. Nintendo stayed the same, giving the same type of games that didn't appeal much to the older audience. Thats why N64 wasn't as successful as PS1. PS always win because they have the most variety of franchises and original games. PS3 is following the same trend.

the 360 will always have the one year headstart. So when will cows stop using this excuse? So far we've been comparing the 360 and ps3 stats over the same period of time and the 360 always ends up looking better. And the 360 didn't even have the same number of multiplats that were being released on both systems.
