Carmack is obsessive when it comes to technical prefection in any product developed internally at id, and add to that its the debut of the new Tech 5 engine, as well as the small size of the id team. Of course its going to take a while.
Like someone else said before, it is a shame that Bethesda's reskinning of Fallout and that BorderLands game both beat it to market by a long time. That is going to take some of the awe out of the setting.
Any any case, Rage is going to be an awesome game, and Tech 5 is going to really show its muscle.
That brings me to another point, Bethesda made an announcement that TESV was going to be running on an "all new engine" but didn't say what the engine was, or if it was a internal Bethesda-made game engine.... and you know, that leads me to think almost without a doubt TESV is going to be running on Tech 5. Id just jumped on board last year with Bethesda's publisher Zenimax, making them sister companys... why in the world would Bethesda be making an engine when Carmack and id are polishing Tech 5? And Tech 5 is proven to render huge outdoor enviroments with ease, and very detailed small spaces as well.... it seems the perfect match, so you can just let Bethesda's artists and writers go crazy and let id take care of the tech. (Bethesda's tech has always been a little shakey). Sounds great to me.
Now where's my Doom 4?
