Was it just because it was a Rockstar game? I'm not saying it will be bad, but what's so special about it that Game Informer decided to give it a 9.75? I had no interest in this game, but with a score that high I'll have to at least check it out.

watch the vids... I wasn't too much into this game, but after watchinga couple of those, I'm definitely in.
It might also be the first Western game that might get AAA.Because everyone loved pretending to be a cowboy when they were kids.
This just happens to be the most awesome looking cowboy game.

I guess a part of the hype is being a Rockstar game. I don't really like Western themed games but I do like open world sandbox type of games. And every thing I've seen so far did get me interested and me made look at the Western theme in a different fun way now. Roaming around and being part of a posse causing havoc just looks fun for me.
Its a western made by R*. Though history wise, teh wild west wasn't really wild. the average town only had 2 murders a year.
After the previous Red Dead game, I was never hyped for this game and didn't even care for it until I saw some gameplay vids and I'm interested in it somewhat, looks vastly improved compared to the last game.
This is just like Mass Effect 2 for me: Don't care about the game unti gameplay vids onl the month it comes out and won't be disappointed with it either.
I dunno but I feel like the only guy that doesn't care for it.
I've had enough with Wild West themes and Third-Person shooters for a while.
Because it's the Western game many players have been waiting over a decade for.
For me, it's because it has everything I could possible want from a Western movie/game. It has steam trains, it has dusty towns, it has wide open desert plains, it has stagecoaches, it has awesome weapons, it has a Mexican revolution (complete with freedom fighters and corrupt Federales), it has robberies, it has seedy traveling salesmen etc. etc. etc. Couple all that with R*'s incredible cinematic presentation, a groundbreaking multiplayer component, and a plethora of in-game content, and you've got a winner.
The game is basically GTA IV in the wild west with cowboys. If you love GTA IV you are going to love this game. If you didn't like GTA you are probably not going to like this game. Was it just because it was a Rockstar game? 2 may not sound a lot but you have to remember that in a town of 50 to 100, that was considered a lot. Back on-topic the game is hyped because it has the best chance of succeeding most areas that other western games failed. Its a western made by R*. Though history wise, teh wild west wasn't really wild. the average town only had 2 murders a year.

I hated cowboy shows that used to be on TV, never really been interested in them.Because everyone loved pretending to be a cowboy when they were kids.

everyone seems to forget that GTA4 got high scores too, but it sucked hard
imelitenow
It didn't sucked, it's just the story went down hill after the first act.
Yeah, whats so great about a massive open world rockstar game with a spaghetti western feel?
Oh wait. That.

This is exactly how I feel about it. Please rockstar, just walk it in folks.
How about a big red town on fire by a lake? :)
Don't know, haven't read their review. All I know is that RDR looks awesome. Good enough for me to hype. Was it just because it was a Rockstar game? I'm not saying it will be bad, but what's so special about it that Game Informer decided to give it a 9.75?

Honestly it looks like a extremely fun game. At first I was dissapointed at how no one cared when they first announced it.

im talking about the gameplay(which i should of mentioned)
'cuz people still like the GTA style gameplay... but they're bored of New York City and Italians with bling
so here's Red Dead Redemption! GTA in the wild west with Mexicans and gold
sounds pretty spiffy to me, but why isn't this coming to PC at the same time?
Seriously, it looks to bring the hours of absurdity and possibilities of old GTA, but with a unique Spaghetti Western theme. Besides that, it has that unmistakable Rockstar production value and attitude, not to mention that it is overflowing with content. Good enough reasons for me to be excited for it, can't speak for anyone else.
Hype comes from the gameplay videos.I don't get where the hype comes from either. Red Dead Revolver didn't really make any waves, did it?

Neither did Killzone:o Yet, look what happened with that sequel. This is Rockstar, they are known to be pretty darn good at what they do. Beyond that, the scope of this game is quite the departure from Red Dead Revolver. They obviously had a much grander vision in mind with Redemption and it shows.
On a side note, I actually enjoyed the first one for what it was. Redemption is a different beast entirely, though. About the only thing it has in common with Revolver is the western theme and dead eye mechanic.
Some people also seem to forget that a whole different R* studio is making this one, and that GTAIV's biggest flaws (lack of anything to do and shoddy multiplayer) seem to have been addressed.everyone seems to forget that GTA4 got high scores too, but it sucked hard
