Was it just because it was a Rockstar game? I'm not saying it will be bad, but what's so special about it that Game Informer decided to give it a 9.75? I had no interest in this game, but with a score that high I'll have to at least check it out.

Because everyone loved pretending to be a cowboy when they were kids.

This just happens to be the most awesome looking cowboy game.

It might also be the first Western game that might get AAA.

I guess a part of the hype is being a Rockstar game. I don't really like Western themed games but I do like open world sandbox type of games. And every thing I've seen so far did get me interested and me made look at the Western theme in a different fun way now. Roaming around and being part of a posse causing havoc just looks fun for me.

It's a sandbox game made by R* and it has a really cool theme. The great gameplay videos and trailers don't hurt either.

After the previous Red Dead game, I was never hyped for this game and didn't even care for it until I saw some gameplay vids and I'm interested in it somewhat, looks vastly improved compared to the last game.

This is just like Mass Effect 2 for me: Don't care about the game unti gameplay vids onl the month it comes out and won't be disappointed with it either.

Interested and worried at the same time. I want the missions and the gameplay to be significantly better than GTA IV , but that's probably too much to ask of Rockstar.

I dunno but I feel like the only guy that doesn't care for it.

I've had enough with Wild West themes and Third-Person shooters for a while.

I haven't played a great, memorable western game in ages (as good as the Call of Jaurez games are). The scope of RDR looks fantastic.

Because it's the Western game many players have been waiting over a decade for.

For me, it's because it has everything I could possible want from a Western movie/game. It has steam trains, it has dusty towns, it has wide open desert plains, it has stagecoaches, it has awesome weapons, it has a Mexican revolution (complete with freedom fighters and corrupt Federales), it has robberies, it has seedy traveling salesmen etc. etc. etc. Couple all that with R*'s incredible cinematic presentation, a groundbreaking multiplayer component, and a plethora of in-game content, and you've got a winner.

The game is basically GTA IV in the wild west with cowboys. If you love GTA IV you are going to love this game. If you didn't like GTA you are probably not going to like this game.

It's being made by Rockstar San Diego. They made Midnight Club, and made the Rage engine that Rockstar North (GTA guys) used for GTA4. But the other Rockstar studios have helped out on this one. Why? GTA4 was realistic, and series. However, it was set in New York. New York is freaking boring. RDR is set in the Wild West. The Wild West is freaking awesome. It's easy for them to keep the game relatively realistic, and still have a hell of a lot of fun. Throw in some Western movie references and everyone loves it. There have been some subtle control changes too which will improve the game. And also, the online looks epic. You can have 16 players in a free roam (everyone roaming the entire world) and you can break up into "Posses" of 8 or less. One very cool feature of this, aside from gang fights and stuff, is that if you kill the lawmen in Free Roam, you get a bounty on your head. In single player, a bounty means lawmen and bounty hunters chasing you. In Free Roam, other players can kill you for the reward. There are also your typical CTF, Deathmatch etc modes that you can join straight from Free Roam, which start with a Mexican standoff. You can level up your character in Free Roam to unlock new horses, character skins (of which there seems to be at least 50 or so) and you can level up to 50. This works in both Free Roam and the Structured Competitive modes. Basically, the game looks like a riot. Especially if you like westerns. GTA4 + Fun = San Andreas San Andreas + Western Awesomeness + Sexy graphics/physics = Red Dead Redemption

Well, I'll admit because it's made by Rockstar, it's already a 10 worthy game by default :P. That, and they've already proven that any game they make, it's awesome (I mean, even an akward idea like Table Tennis turned out to be a great game! :D). Needless to say, I haven't lost faith in the company for YEARS!

Don't know, but I hope it's good. If I decide to get it, I'll wait until a price drop. GTA IV dropped in price pretty quickly after coming out to about 40 bucks, so I see no need to drop 50 plus on this game.

2 may not sound a lot but you have to remember that in a town of 50 to 100, that was considered a lot. Back on-topic the game is hyped because it has the best chance of succeeding most areas that other western games failed.

Its literally GTA4 with a western skin, i tried watching the videos like you all said and yeah i was like 'thats cool' and 'that would be fun to do' it still just looked like call of Juarez. With the way GTA4 was not fun for me i doubt this would be at all.

Think GTA4 (which was a good game, not a 10, but good) but in the wild west (a setting way underused in games). Seriously, it's just nice to see a game like this that is NOT about spacemarines, nazis, the amry, or gangs.

'cuz people still like the GTA style gameplay... but they're bored of New York City and Italians with bling

so here's Red Dead Redemption! GTA in the wild west with Mexicans and gold

sounds pretty spiffy to me, but why isn't this coming to PC at the same time?

Seriously, it looks to bring the hours of absurdity and possibilities of old GTA, but with a unique Spaghetti Western theme. Besides that, it has that unmistakable Rockstar production value and attitude, not to mention that it is overflowing with content. Good enough reasons for me to be excited for it, can't speak for anyone else.

Neither did Killzone:o Yet, look what happened with that sequel. This is Rockstar, they are known to be pretty darn good at what they do. Beyond that, the scope of this game is quite the departure from Red Dead Revolver. They obviously had a much grander vision in mind with Redemption and it shows.

On a side note, I actually enjoyed the first one for what it was. Redemption is a different beast entirely, though. About the only thing it has in common with Revolver is the western theme and dead eye mechanic.

Some people also seem to forget that a whole different R* studio is making this one, and that GTAIV's biggest flaws (lack of anything to do and shoddy multiplayer) seem to have been addressed.
