why is Sony wasting money?

Ads are designed to promote product awareness. Do you think anyone that would come here would have no clue the PS3 existed?

Add to that the fact that Sony put Lair in the ad. We all know the sentiment for that game around here.

Games come out every week, they need ads for attention. Consoles, on the other hand are rather omnipresent.

Have you ever seen an ad for the 360, Wii, or DS? I havent, except to advertise new colors of the DS.

Same here. Everytime I see I think to myself, "hopefully people doesn't fall for this hype" or I just change the channel to come back when its gone.

Wasn't Microsoft losing money until Halo 3 came out? I remember reading someone that they had not made a centsince thefirst Xbox. (But this was a long time ago near the start of the year.)
