without releasing a new one with minor features like HDMI or just scrapping an SKU altogether over and over?

MS has 3 SKUs, and Sony can't keep one without replacing it or phasing it out. I don't mind the elite 360 or the new PS3 SKUs that much, but what is going on when you release that many new units?

I doubt it'll be in it since Reggie's response to Microsoft and their video marketplace and he then went on to say again that DVD playback wont be coming to (North-American) the Wii because they have "the games".

What would be the point? Any $20 DVD player at Walmart would output at a higher res. Again, the reason you won't see different SKU's for the Wii with HDMI or DVD playback is because the Wii does not have that kind of hardware. It is a basic system at a basic price, (not slamming the Wii, just being honest about it).

If it's not, I doubt anyone would be tempted to buy one anymore for DVD playback, unless Ninty just decided to give multimedia more purpose on the Wii.

Well, I still love you. You have your reasons. Though I think that saying that they are using last-gen hardware is a little harsh. I mean, at least they have motion sensing technology that wasn't present in last gen consoles. Everything else though... yeah. I'll admit I'm sad that I won't be enjoying MP3 going "wow, this looks amazing" like I did with the first game.

Like I said I really wasn't even trying to make a negative comment, iobviously there's plenty of things about the Wii that make it next-gen. I was really just talking about how they re-used the processors from last-gen, and that's the main reason for why its so much cheaper compared to its competitors.Teufelhuhn

Yeah. Definitely. I mean, I'm not a guy won over by pretty graphics, but they can enhance a gaming experience dramatically. With the Wii, it has to make up for this in other ways which can be very difficult it seems (many 3rd party developers and even nintendo themselves for example). I think Nintendo definitely could have put a little better hardware in it at a very nominally upgraded price and given us better than they have at a similar price point.
