yeh, the music is very action oriented and fits perfectly with gun fights. Its really genius well they work together, wile315
I dont finish many games like I try and finish Gears, I will be playing the singleplayer everyday until i finish it, it is so engaging.
Compressed audio ftw? :|
Gears' music cant touch Halo's. The gun sounds are pretty par for the course although I do like the sound the Lancer makes when it starts running out of ammo.

I agree Halo is my favorite, but Gears is awesome in a different kind of way. Bungie and EPic are two of the best videogame devs out there for this very reason.

You haven't played too many video games did you. I personally liked the MGS4 soundrack. And in 7.1 surround sound.

agreed, MGS4 has the best sound.
7.1 PCM blows away 5.1 audio..PS3 FTW:)

He isn't talking about 5.1 vs 7.1 or compressed vs. uncompressed sound, he is saying the the sound effects and the musical score fit the game very well and add to the experience. Obviously 7.1 uncompressed>>>5.1 compressed, but the composer still has to make good music, 7.1 doesn't automatically make it the best score to a game ever.
Uhmm no, the sound effects are good, but the OST is weak, and it gets quite old by the end of the game. It could have used some more work, to make it shine more, its not something that goes into the instant classic OST feature.
If you want great scores (scores as in music) you should check Lair and MGS 4 who have actual composers working for them.

but MGS4 has Ennio Morricone...so MGS4 best sound/effects/score/etc. hands down.

Nice try. MGS4 uses a cover of a Morricone composition which was originally done for an Italian film. Insinuating that he composed a song for MGS4 is sacrilige.
I don't see Gears using some John Williams cover, and if it did, I don't think anyone would be bragging about sad it was for Epic to start ripping scores from Hollywood movies.
I'm Lovin the Audio in Gears
But MGS4 is just Beautifull, Take a 7.1 System and it just sounds Heavenly. and the score in MGS4 is Godly, Check out the cut-scene where liquid takes over SOP on the river
EDIT:Spell check

I said nothing bad about MGS4, I loved the game and the music was great, but I just wanted to point out that 7.1 does not determine the quality of the sound effects and music, it just provides a better way of hearing them. You can put some gangsta rap in 7.1, and it will still suck.
Are you saying the 360 doesn't support 7.1? Do really you believe some of the BS you type here? :roll:7.1 PCM blows away 5.1 audio..PS3 FTW:)

ya but the only reason i brought it up was because of killzone and his horrible flamebait..which worked apparently.go play battlefield(bc or battlefield 2) half life, cod4, hell...play any pc game.ice144
he means the score/ timing of events.
This is the best way I can put it: Timing of music for idiots:

And less in your face but definately a good example (major lost odyssey spoiler)

I could record farting noises and call it a score in put it in an audio quality way higher than you could imagine, but so what?

who cares? You act like that guy is so good. he's not (and believe it or not ive heard of him before, mainly because of the good, bad, and ugly). He's too traditional imo.
I think Uematsu is the best composer, in any industry. And believe it or not he embraces rock too! Much more contemporary
from this gen alone (meaning out of blue dragon and lost odyssey)

Uematsu benefits from proper placing too. So many games just throw in the music.
I like Marty too. I bet his director tells him "MORE EPIC!" for his baseline.
