Why is The Conduit hated so much?

It was underrated in my opinion. It was very fun and is the best FPS on the Wii, just because some sheep hyped it as a halo killer why is it a bad game? Didnt Scribblenauts flop? it that a bad game? no. Im new around here so I just wanna know why so much hate for a fun Wii game?? PS - I think Gamespot rated it a 6.5 because there comparing it to ps3, 360 and PC shooters and of course Wii FPS games arent nearly as good as those systems but as a Wii FPS wouldnt it be like a solid 8.0?

I agree. I enjoyed The Conduit a lot. The multiplayer is lots of fun. I'm not getting to play it as much at the moment, though, because I'm also having lots of fun with DDO now that it's free-to-play.

The game is a little underrated. Saying it is the worst FPS this gen is just silly. And saying that all the sheep hyped it is also silly. The only people that hyped it were Conduit Fans. Most sheep knew it was nothing speacial.

in response to the title, which im assuming is the post summed up in one go, i dont think the conduit is hated. it just is acknowledge in general as being a mediocre game. when i played it, it was pretty good. and i think thats exactly how most people view it; pretty good. the problem is that when you can be playing something incredibly awesome, theres no reason to waste time with something mediocre.

It was hyped by both the creators and fan boys, especially graphic wise and control wise. And while it delivered on the controls, it didn't deliver on the graphics nor the gameplay.

It doesn't help that there is a tremendous shortage of FPS's on Wii, so practically any one with some hype will stand out.

Because (IMO) the game sucked. It wasn't that it had bad graphics (even though it did, but again, that's not why I disliked it), or due to its controls (it actually does handle ok... not as good as a shooter on the PC, but it was decent), but it was just not a good game. The weapons were generic, the enemies were generic, the sphere device thingy (can't remember its name) felt tacked on, the plot was horrible, the voice acting was B- movie quality at best... a few other things that all just added up to a game that wasn't fun... just generic. Again, this is just my opinion, and it has been influenced by games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Crysis.

As for The Conduit -- it was a terrible game and I called it a year and a half ago when I said it would be bad and the developers would not deliver on their promises. Its honestly one of the worst games I've played on my Wii -- I beat it in 3 and a half hours in a rental, the online was laggy and a mess so I returned it the same day and felt ripped off.

Everything was bad about the game. Generic setting, ugly art direction, bad voice acting, bad music, control scheme wasn't as fluid as Prime 3/Trilogy's is -- and overall its just.. boring and dull.

It doesn't play exactly like an FPS at all? You go to random planets. Explore them. You go back to them instead of just demolishing everything and it is just a mission you can replay. It plays much longer than aany FPS. No multiplayer focus. You go through areas, fight huge bosses who require strategy to take down instead of random shooting. It is too different!

If they do exactly what the genre's name implies, they belong in that genre. In Metroid Prime you are looking at it in a first person view, and you are shooting. You do go on an adventure, but there are a lot of FPS games that are exactly like it. It belongs in the FPS genre.

There are a variety of weapons in games like Final Fantasy and Uncharted, both of which you shoot things. They are not FPS. Next.

Racing games can also be played in first person. Just because it is first person doesn't make it out to be a shooter. And an FPA isn't something Nintendo just made up. There are more game like that than you think. Games such as Myst and even Phoenix Wright have these elements. Many games you shoot things and they aren't shooter.

In Metroid you can go back and explore areas instead of just going to the next mission, you have a widerange of collectables, There aren't that many enemies in the game compare to an FPS, you use Strategy to take out bosses an enemys, You have visors to peer at your world ina different way.

Metroid Prime is just another way for you to perceive the Metroid world. Zelda OOT was originally going to be first person. Does that mean it was going to be an FPS. Same with Oblivion.

I'm playing Trilogy right now and if I had to label the game I'd say its an FPS! Not gonna get super technical with you guys as to why just putting down my vote.

As for the Conduit, I own the 360/Wii combo and I agree, as a Wii FPS its around the 7.5 range, however in comparison to the PS3/360/PC FPS's available its definetly 6.5 and below.

I agree with GS's review for many different reasons, one of the big ones being how they rated it in relation to other FPS offered on other consoles as well as the wii! IGN's review seemed more like "for an FPS on the wii" and thats not right to rate Wii games like their on a lower level than the 360/PS3/PC and we should just all have lowered standards or something! Plus IGN also hyped the game up alot with all their coverage and prieviews leading up to the release so they would have looked pretty bad rating any lower than they did!
