Why is there so much hype for GT5: Prologue?

It's just a demo of GT5...... I mean I can understand getting hyped for GT5, since it'll probably be one of the best racing games this gen (possibly ever?), but... getting all hyped up for a DEMO that you're gunna pay $40 for... it seems kind of... ridiculous.

GT5 is a huge series. Just because many of us gave up on it after almost all other race titles went online does not change that.

I kept putting off buying GT4 because of the promised online add-on disc and even considered getting a PSP because of the promised online in GT Moble.

I'm hoping that waiting for the full GT5 release works out better than it did with those two games.

because there is nothing like paying $40 for a demo of a game that looks nothing like what was first shown..... I don't have the screenshots.... but I saw them in another thread on here.... and dang.... DOWNGRADE CONFIRMED!Veterngamer

What does GT4:Prologue have to do with the perception of the mass consumer? For all you know when GT fans bought GT4:P they thought it was a "version" of the game.

Theres hype for it because even though its a DEMO, its still meaty enough in features to feed a gran turismo fans short term needs.

60 cars and 6 tracks + mirror versions, drift mode, offline singleplayer, split-screen multi & 16 player online races, leaderboards, gran Turismo TV etc = ALOT of replayability for a GT fanboy....how many 360 fans are excited about getting the SF2 HD Beta when you buy Commando 3 just to play Ryu vs Ken on 1 stage? Alot from what Ive seen....and how many people bought Crackdown just to play Halo 3 beta (What was that 2 maps, 2 modes? and didnt have ANY singleplayer form of playing) ? This is no different really. Stop the double standard.

this is true. one of my co-workers thought it was a full game until i told him. he was all hyped up for it. I'm still buying it tho

Apparently paying twice for the same content is great now.

Im paying £17 for it, looks decent and probably has more replayability than a lot of games that come out for £40 ($80)

that wheel is great and will make the experience much more immersive, i agree. but gameplaywise it's a boring game.... arcade racers are more fun, or REAL racing.

I'll swap those around. Most cows on this board openly admit it's a demo, but I dont think the average GT fan is even aware that the Prologue games are glorified demos- I honestly believe a clueless user thinks GT5 (the true game) is simply the special addition of Prologue.

you can't call the game boring in general because you perfer arcade racing...
