Why is there still hype for KZ2 ?

I don't understand why this is still being hype. I would think that most ppl would just put it on the back burner and start saying "I'll believe it when I see it". I mean the game has been in development since before the PS3 even came out. A lot of great FPS have already came out and have crush every perception of what KZ2 was supposed to be. If it were to come out now it would feel kind of old and been played.

The game was supposed to be a launch title wasn't it. I mean like released almost a year and a half ago. I recall a game that was supposed to be a launch title that got pushed back by years and when it was release it made no splash. The game was Mace for the original Xbox. I believe KZ2 should be going the way of Mace.

It's being hyped because it has the potential to be very good. They've got a huge dev team who've been working on it for years. I think the problem comes with what I like to call 'Obsessive hype', like calling it the future king of FPSs, and proclaiming that Halo and Call of Duty are crap.

I'm looking forward to Killzone 2, but i'm perfectly aware that it probably won't be the best FPS of the year.

It's being hyped because it has the potential to be very good. They've got a huge dev team who've been working on it for years. I think the problem comes with what I like to call 'Obsessive hype', like calling it the future king of FPSs, and proclaiming that Halo and Call of Duty are crap.

I'm looking forward to Killzone 2, but i'm perfectly aware that it probably won't be the best FPS of the year.

I don't think people are hyping Killzone 2 anymore because I believe the cows slowly learned their lesson. The first Killzone was horrible and even though Killzone 2 has sweet eye candy, just because it look good doesn't mean it'll be good. Looks can deceive. There's already a hand full of good looking PS3 games now, but they just fail to have that replay value which is more important. Most of those PS3 exclusive games that people bought when the game released are either collecting dust or they returned it to BlockBuster or NexFlix or even traded in.

The people that played KZ2 say it plays good.

The people that played TH say it's horrible.

Who am I going to believe? The dev's name or the actual game?

but im looking forward to it :) i liked the first killzone, and when you hear about how it was made you realize that the first was aiming to high and was totally broken because of lack of support.....now we have a huge team and lots of time, things are looking great

Neat. Glad you can educate yourself on games by reading other PS3-hater posts. But let me suggest something. Why don't you go look at the various gamer sites, US and UK, that have written up previews or the views on showings they've seen. You will find some very positive (under statement) statements. You will find some people that are blown away. in fact, find me one from a credible source that tells you anything bad.

I am excited for it. I don't think it will be dated. I find that very funny.

And to the "I'll believe it when I see it." crap. You can say that about ANY unreleased game. And you should. Until you get it in your own hands, you really haven't a clue. And I find it hypocritical for anyone to make a post like since EVERYONE gets hyped about a game they haven't played.

2. the first trailer was CG, the rest was not and looke pretty close. but not just in graphics (the only thing you look at) but in immersion and chaos.

3. It's a sequel to a reasonably good game but with an enourmes amount of extra money, talent, people, etc. this is a non argument.

You are one of those people that doesn't eveolve. improve on himself.. but others do and are more ambitious.

I don't hype the game but the best reason I can for hyping it is... now get this... they think it looks fun and it had positive hands-on previews. So basically people like it because it seems to be fun. That would seem to be a good reason to look forward to a game, but you obviously have other expectations, mainly scheduling. I enjoyed both Halo 3 (which came out a year late) and Oblivion which was supposed to be a 360 launch title.

Also Killzone 2 was never intended to be a launch title. I do think it was originally slated for a Fall 2007 release.

Out of curiosity what is to keep cows from saying that Guerrilla will get it right this time? They definitely improved with Killzone: Liberation and hands-on previews of Killzone 2 have been very positive from E3.

IMO all the KZ2 hype is based on the fact that PS3 has no real appealing games so far, so any PS3 coming title get all the hype it can, in fact KZ2, LBP, Haze seem like some mediocre games to me, nothing more, but get all that hype because PS3 fans can't afford NOT to hype them to heaven

Frankly KZ2 is so mediocre graphically, that i wonder why even at that little game state, they hype this game, that is definatly looking IMO totally subpar so far, with nothing really interesting in both graphics or gameplay

I agree, that the engine description is exiting, but i do not play white papers, i play games, so they have to do much more than a linear, dark shooter to impress, because we have an INFINITE ammount of such titles

Anyone saying this game is crap is just a crazy fanboy. Everything I've seen of the game looks great....for a FPS. No one even knows all the specifics yet but the one thing we do know is the graphics/animations looked great. Show me a non-biased fanboy site that said otherwise when they gave a demo of the beta product at E3 last year and at least you have a PROFESSIONAL opinion backing you up.

The reason why there is hype for this game is because we all saw it in action last year (beta product too) and we know Sony has spent (estimated) $50+ million developement for this ONE game. You don't think there is going to be hype for that? If it turns out to be a crap game it could be the single biggest flop in history IMO.

Also one of the glitchiest FPS ever made. When it first released, there were so many exploits found in the game and people were skipping ENTIRE sections using gravity glitches. 6 years for an unpolished game. Orange Box HL2 on 360 STILL has a ton of glitches. Try exiting your airboat while against a wall. Half the time, you'll get stuck and have to restart your save file. HL2 is a great game, no doubt, but it is incredibly glitchy.

The hype for Fable 2 is because ALL things promised for Fable 1, are now 100% confirmed in the Fable 2 game, and a HOST more NOT promised for Fable 1 are again 100% in the game, with demonstrations this time, not words !!!

Plus you forget Fable 1 got 85% average, a GREAT score overall, and 53 AAA reviews, which is more than most AAA overall games get !!!!

So, if you want to base your argument on something, this simply CAN'T be Fable 2, which is easilly looking like the game of the decade to me, you are just not informed about what that game brings to the table, that is all

BTW KZ2 is a mere shooter, it is linear from videos, and confined, it is SO more of the same, and SO not interesting, that comparing it to a game like Fable 2, and what that game brings to the RPG genre, is a true CRIME IMO
