Why is this not covered (Xbox 360)

I want to know why this is not convered... I was unlucky enough to get the Hitachi GDR-3120L dusc drive which is known for having the glue in it melt which leads to it being unable to spin the disc... Why will Microsoft not replace this for free... Its because there console gets to hot that the glue melts in the first place... My Xbox 360 is extremely loud and it does not read the discs (Unplayable Disc)

What the problem is- "The "Unplayable Disc" error has also been heavily reported. The error appears to be limited to the Hitachi CD/DVD ROM drives that replaced the earlier Toshiba drives. The error message is preceded by a loud series of grinding noises and the system returning to the dashboard. From that point forward, any disc that is put in the unit will result in the "Unplayable Disc" error. In the majority of cases, this error is caused by the adhesive that holds a small magnetic washer heating up and allowing the washer to affix its self to the metal top of the drive. After this occurs, the system can no longer spin the disk as necessary. Numerous fixes are available on the internet, but all involve opening the console box. Opening the console will result in the unit's warranty being voided.[75] Microsoft will fix the error for a fee. Included in the repair fee is one additional year of warranty coverage"

Actually, i'm talking about computer games. If you're not buying any Windows OS, you're unable to play World In Conflict and the likes.

I guess it's the same reason i don't buy Sony products. They tend to stop working after the warranty is gone, which happened to my PS2. Not like it's got any good exclusives either.

If he won't buy a MS operating system he's missing out on PC games as well such as Crysis, Stalker, and Mass Effect (360 and PC only).

Coming from a sony fan whose entire NAME on gamespot is sony based. Listen, call microsoft again, ask for a manager or supervisor, speak to them DIRECTLY and say that it is their fault 100% that the glue melted, and in no way is it your fault from properly usign the console, and demand a replacement. If that doesnt work, ask for HIS boss. Keep going until someone replaces it for free, and keep insisting that at no fault of your own and in no way were you misusing it, it just breaks due to bad design and bad manufacturing... you'll get a free one.

Thank goodness the new 360 SKUs are 199. If anything happens to my 360 I would like to replace it... and at least 200 isnt exactly breaking the bank for this gen.

This is my Old account... I switched back to it when this happened to my 360... To be truthful I'm saying Halo is the only good game to make the pain of me not being able to play my 360 less...

lol... I talked to a supervisor or what ever for an hour and there going to replace it for free... They really took there time with everything thing...

I just got of the phone with Microsoft... I could not understand a word the person was saying to me so I just gave up... I've been trying to give it RRoD, but my POS 360 seems to be unhurt by my attempts...PS3Goose

Just put a game in it, that should take care of things.
