Dropping a systems price isnt as easy as you think, to drop the price they need to pretty much do and follow lots of procedures, they need to tell all retailers in advance, tell the media, chose a date, prepare for marketing and so on. dropping a price isnt as easy as you think and besides imo the system being at $250 is a steal! do you know how much the vita can do? it does so much more than just gaming, heck with Skype it feels like a phone now, its a multimedia beast
They need to strip and gimp it's features before they can slash the price if they don't want to loose even more money on each unit sold.
Spoken just like someone who's never worked a day in finance. Dropping the price isn't as easy as shooting fish in a barrel. ispeakfactMaybe for SONY because they cant afford to lsoe lots of money, but nintendo did it early because... They knew better. SONY needs to follow the same path, swallow your pride and slash the price.

I think you've just answered your own question.
Well Sony said they want Vita to be profitable by mid way through the third year on the market. Going off that they are selling it at losses. Probably can't afford it.
Why dont they slash the price at $200, announce a "buy a vita and get a free 8gb from retailers" deal, and offer you a game download from PSN and you can choose from many of the lanch games? If they did this now, wouldnt it improve sales? We all know VITA will be $200 soon, so why not just do it now? Also it must only take at least $5 at most to develop those tiny memory cards, and games downloaded digitally dont cost the companies anything right? Their surge in sales would make up for losing a few dollars on memory cards, and not selling a few physical copies. Is SONY just letting the VITA die? Did they realize they made a mistake and are slowly pulling the rug under it? Its incredibly weird that a company doesnt fully support a product that they just put out, obvious signs of abandonment.Second_Hokage
Do you want Sony to go bankruptcy? They are already losing money on each Vita sold and you want them to increase the margin of loses to a 100%! And those 8GB memory cards are really expensive because they are proprietary (like the Xbox's HDD), so if they offered those for free with each Vita the loses would only double. And to top all of it, a free game....
Dude, selling more does not equal profit, do you know that right? Sony first needs to reduce the components in the system before they can announce a price drop. Nintendo could slash the price of the 3DS because the system was really cheap to make, its hardware compared to the Vita is outdated.

You really come up with some rubbish don't you, and yes I've worked in finance and price cut can be worked out and implemented in few weeks it only takes longer because most companies like to advertise well before hand.
No joke, Sony will play their big hand for the Vita when everyone in the industry is looking at them, not in some press announcement. Just wait til e3 people :PPeople, chill out. The system is still new. Lets give it at least till after E3.

Just wait til e3 people :PThat doesn't make any sense whatsoever really. They should have been announcing and releasing games since launch so their product didn't become completely irrelevant at retail and lose all launch momentum and confidence among consumers, developers, publishers, investors and retailers.People, chill out. E3 will be very quiet for the Vita. Nearly all of those TBA third party gameswe saw pre Vita launch will become vaporware as no developer in their right mind will make games for a handheld with such poor hardware and software sales.
We may see some of Sony's internal studio's with a a few games but it will be way too little way too late.
Vita is done.
because they know if the sony fanbase sees an advertisement for it they will shyt themselves, go into an epileptic fit, fall over blinded and have to live in an asylum the rest of their lives rocking and repeating to themselves.

The first months of the 3DS were not very appealing either, nor was Nintendo having an aggressive plan. It took them months, I am sure it will be the same for the Vita. E3 will tell all and I am sure they are holding their Vita ammunition for that.
^ This Also, because a price cut alone won't do the system any good. It needs games backing up that price cut, and as of right now, there's nothing for the Vita, either in its current lineup or on the horizon.Because they are Pu***es

A price drop at this time will be nothing but a temporary pain killer they need a simillar strategy to what Ninyendo did with 3DS announce games that people care about then slash the price I bet we will see a price cut + some decent games being announced by E3 or TGS.

Nintendo had to swallow pride, Sony will have to swallow more revenue losses. Its just a bad time for that company right now.
lol, ps3 guys are pissed if their precious eyes alight upon an ad but they are mad that sony does not advertise enough.
wtf cows?
wtf do you want?
do you even know?

If they drop the price too early, public perception will be negative. Give it till the end of the year. I think they need a price drop around sept/oct. ninjapirate2000This. Or at least this is some of it. It might easily backfire because of the current games.
Because their idiots who are already selling it at a loss despite having very poor software sales (which all new consoles do, I don't why they didn't see it coming)
Also, why be aggressive when you're destined to not sell nearly as many units as Nintendo? They're behind by 16 million units and it's likely to widen to 25 million + by the end of the year.

That's where the propriety memory cards come in ;)
Probably because Sony are living in the DS vs PSP days. Now that the 3DS isn't technically restricted like the DS was, there seems to be little need for the Vita, especially when there are home consoles that are cheaper and have a much better selection of games and better graphics...
I think Sony needs better marketing, name brand is good but that alone isn't enough. Though that being said the Vita had a very successful North America launch and PS3 and PS3 games all sell pretty good. But there is no doubt they could sell more if Sony did a better job at marketing them.

3ds is more restricted having region restrictions, considering ds was region free except dsi and xl. VIta still has a place unless nintendo makes one that can do everything it can, which has always had my interest more than what nintendo is offering. Home console no need to mention them I can't play them anywherePlease Log In to post.
