It wouldn't be that hard for a game to beat Twilight Princess. Shadow of Collosus is the closest game I can compare it to and I defiently liked that more than Twilight Princess.Sparky04But that game is not in the same vein as Zelda. Also TP is garbage I will not use that game as a reflection on the franchise.
Nothing can beat Zelda.nivet14Never said anything would, but wouldn't you want a good game that felt like Zelda but probably better in some areas.

Sotc'sso crappy, I actually wrote a review about it. Well, maybe it's more of a public rant.
Okami "takes it cues" from Zelda, according to Greg Kasavin in his review.WeAreToastOk how about a game hyped as the Zelda killer and live to its hype of being a game that can rival Zelda. it will not kill the franchise though.

I hate zelda, i would hate to have another game plagued by feeling like trash.
Because there will never be such a thing.MrDziekujeSo you do not want another great game out there?

Why do we need a new franchise? How about the zelda franchise just changes things up a bit? (Which apparantly the next Zelda on the Wii will do)

SOTC had
bad camara, barren empy worlds, ugly characters (except the monsters) No power ups weapons people to talk to nothing.
The monsters saved it.

I know I understand, but how about there is a game that can make a Zelda fan happy to play a Zelda like game.
I doubt the game would kill Zelda, but if someone tried to make a game as Epic as Zelda and beyond I would definately be intrigue in Playing the game. Especially if it lives up to the hype of being a great game that can rival Zelda. I only say this because maybe it will force future Zeldas to be drastically different from the last knowing there is competition out there. I am a huge Zelda fan, but if I can play a Zelda like game on another system it would be awesome to play two great games.too_much_eslimThey are already trying to make Zelda games to be drastically diffrent from another. Just look at oot compared to mm, ww and ph. They only made tp because the fans wanted another zelda game like oot. They said that tp would be the last of its kind. So you can expect something truely revolutionary on the next zelda. With or w/o competition.

So you don't like new games. The game wouldn't entirely play like Zelda because I wouldn't want to play an exact ripoff, but what is wrong with having another great adventure game out there that isn't on a nintendo console.[QUOTE="nivet14"][QUOTE="too_much_eslim"][QUOTE="nytrospawn"] Yeah, its called Phantom Hour Glass.too_much_eslimBut it is Zelda. Getting one only once in a while is a good thing. If I constantly had a new Zelda-like game to play, it would get boring.

[QUOTE="Zhengi"]Because Zelda is the greatest franchise ever.too_much_eslimSo competition isn't a good thing.
No, it's more like no franchise will reach Zelda's level. People call TP crap, but any developer out there would have loved to have that title under their name. For me though, I didn't think TP was crap. I actually liked it a lot and thought it was great.

I hear what you are saying as I do not want a lot of Zelda like clones, but I do want one that can be comparable and put in the same sentence as Zelda. Good adventure games are hard to come by so I would love for something else just like Zelda.[QUOTE="too_much_eslim"][QUOTE="Zhengi"]So competition isn't a good thing.[QUOTE="too_much_eslim"][QUOTE="Zhengi"]Because Zelda is the greatest franchise ever.sexy_chimp

I know they said that, and I have high hopes for it, but I would love to play another game like it. It will help pass the time between Zelda games since only two are made for every console since it went 3D.[QUOTE="Zhengi"]So competition isn't a good thing.[QUOTE="too_much_eslim"][QUOTE="Zhengi"]Because Zelda is the greatest franchise ever.too_much_eslim

I am one of those who thinks TP was crap. If the next Zelda is as bad as this game I am going to cry. So I want a game just as good as Zelda not on a Nintendo system. That's fine. There are many people who hated Wind Waker and I thought it was great too. So I don't expect everyone to love Zelda. However, the quality of the game is top notch and you can't argue that any developer out there wouldn't want these titles.
Nintendo tries to revolutionize the Zelda series with every reiteration. From 2D to 3D to Masks to Cell Shading, they've tried to do different things with each game to give it freshness. TP was the only one that went back to the roots of OoT as it was service to its fans. This is the main reason Zelda is so great and tough to beat. If devs want to make a Zelda killer, they have to get out of the formulas that work and try to come up with new ideas to keep their franchise fresh. You know for sure that Nintendo will always be trying to make Zelda feel new with every new title.
Zelda is a bit of a hard one to top... considering it pretty much invented the action adventure genre, and then reinvented it in 3D. Zelda has a lot of history, and therefore a lot of experience in making a quality action adventure game. I don't think it needs competition for the formula to get switched up though, it's common knowledge that the next Zelda game we see is likely ot be drastically different from the current ones.REVOLUTIONfreakI do not expect the game to top Zelda, but it will be just as enjoyable.
