[QUOTE="axt113"][QUOTE="Dr_DudeMan"][QUOTE="Ontain"]I have an HDTV and a Surround sound system. I still like my wii and still play it almost every day. if you're a gamer that needs to play 5+ hours a day it might not be for you. I have a pc for my other gaming needs (RPG's and MMORPGs). but I find that when you want to play with others the wii is great. I'm waiting for better games and i'm sure they'll eventually come. I've played red steel and thought it was pretty fun. they just needed a lot more fine tuning on bugs, ai and story. but it did keep in glued to my couch for a few hours at a time.Dr_DudeMan
By hardcore I do mean people who may play 5 hours a day. I probably play about that. The wii start wearing off for me and all my buddies after about a month.

Most of us have other responsibilities (jobs, college, etc.), five hours a day is far too much for many to devote to gaming

I think Medschool is just as big a responsibility.

Med school is a responsibility, but school alone would still leave you with plenty of time to game, especially for someone who sounds like they have no real social life

Wait, what? :?

What game other then zelda has reasonably interesting art?

Paper Mario, Wario Ware, Mario Galaxy, Metriod Prime 3. Need any more? Paper Mario alone is enough to prove that point wrong.

Wow, games that have looked the same for ages...mario galaxy looks good, but the rest look terrible. I am very disappointed in what I have seen in metroid so far. Prime was great because it was lush, and now it seems like they are heading in a resistance/gears direction which looks terrible for that particular series.

It's obvious that you just don't like the Wii at this point. You'll only be able to see what you want to. I would suggest to try and look at these games in a fair light, but to each his own.

I camped 2 days for it. Played it like crazy for a month, bought a ton of games for it hoping a few would be fun, so I think I gave it an extremely fair chance.

And dumped it because you didn't like how the graphics looked  yeah that's a fair chance

3 months is a fair chance...how long of a dust collection did it need before I should have sold it?

[QUOTE="OMGTEHGRUKWTF"][QUOTE="axt113"]Sorry dude, Hardcore is a small segment of the market, there will still be games for them, but the blue ocean strategy of Nintendo is about much more, as for grpahics, if you can't stand SD level graphics then I feel sorry for you coolviper2003

LOL. SD is 640x480. The polygons are as big as boulders.

Riiiight, because SD is so crappy , yet if the movie Shrek or Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children can look amazing and completely destroy anything on the PS3 and 360, then SD still has plenty of kick left. HD really is over rated, PS3 and 360 games could've looked even better then they do now if their maximum resolution was capped at 480p.

That makes no sense.

Yeah I hate to tell you that it was not very good. A game that is not challenging is not fun. I had no sense of accomplishment as I dragged myself from one event to another.

It was the most fun I've had in a few months when I finished it. Maybe it's just me because I like adventure games. IMO it looked great also. Guess I'm not hardcore.:(

Lol...it does not look great, it looks stereotypical nintendo. The twilight world did look great, but the normal world was just normal. And if its not challenging I dont find it fun, and frankily I love action games. Its my favorite genre.

You're trying to pass of your opinion as fact

No I am not, I am defending my opinions. That does not make them fact.

You don't like adventure games if you can't finish Zelda because of graphix. You like graphix apparently more.

To start I owned the 360 before getting the wii. Nonetheless, I was still pumped for Nintendo's "revolutionary" system. Don't get me wrong, the console is fun, but not nearly as fun as it is made out to be and it gets tremendously boring.

I used to defend the wii on these forums and now I feel like a sheep for being a blind fool. For any hardcore gamer with a nice tv and surround sound system rig, the wii is aweful. Not only is the sound horrendous, but it looks worse in HD then in SD in most cases. I find myself having way more fun playing my 360 in full hd and 7.1 digital optical surround sound. With the wii, I felt like I was back at the beginning of last gen, which resulted in it collecting dust as I continued to play my 360. About 3 months after getting it I traded my wii for a PS3.

Honestly, I am extremely glad I did. Nintendo games just don't have the longetivity that xbox live and PSN bring to games. They also don't have much visual appeal because all but Nintendo's first party art (to those color lovers, art doesn't necessarily mean painting a game in a rainbow) is bland and limited by weak hardware. I don't care if casuals and kids are dumb enough to buy the wii, and if the wii wins because of this, the 360 and even ps3 are still better consoles.

Finally, the reason I say that Nintendo did a disservice to the hardcore gamer, is because we want to be wowed by our games and stay addicted, where as kids and casuals want to flail their arms around like idiots for a couple hours instead of just going outside and playing sports, etc. I have been gaming for over 20 years, and I LOVE zelda and I could not even finish Twilight Princess. It was frustratingly easy, and actually looked worse in HD then in SD. Sorry Nintendo but that is not what I, and most tech savy folk are looking for. Congrats on getting back to the top and bringing more gamers in, but next time don't leave all of us hardcore adult gamers (and no I am not asking for mature games, I am asking for more challenging games with more longetivity) out in the cold.

Edit: What peeved me off at the start was that Nintendo put a wireless card in the wii that costs nearly $100 whereas they could have put a $10 LAN port in and used the remainder of the money towards hardware. I am sure that the wii could have been a nice little 720p console with amazing visuals had they done this, and in doing this they also alienate all the casuals who do not have wireless.

[QUOTE="WIIRUS"]Your just a graphics whore. Bad graphics shouldnt stop you from playing a good game. oh, and TP is beautifulBread_or_Decide

But the best games also have good graphics (depending on what it is trying to accomplish).

So quit with the "Graphics whore" stuff already.

If a game has such terrible graphics that you can't make out objects or see where your going then you can't possibly play it now can you? So I guess graphics do count for something eh?

NO game will have graphics so bad that you can't play it.  NONE.  That's how far technology has advanced.  You don't need good graphics.

Yeah which is why I said me and my buddies stopped playing, and I happen to be engaged to a hottie, and its rather funny that all you can come up with to argue against me is an attack on my social life that you know nothing about. 24 hours in a day. Thats a lot of time. 7 hours sleep, 7 hours school, leaves 10 hours to hang out with fiance, friends, and game away.

im the realest hardcore gamer there is. i still freaking play the original GB games, and enjoy it. i like looking at fancy graphics, but i know what gaming is all about, and it isnt all about fancy graphics. my eyes still pop out when i see graphics on the N64. hardcore games are gamers who can play and injoy any good game, no matter how the graphics are. to me hardcore games are definily gamers who grew up with the gaming industry.

EDIT: Sorry I didnt read the whole of your first post. I thought you were just another "nintendo is killing the industry" people.

I like the idea of the wiimote, but I would also like if simple controls didnt mean that we will have to put up with simple gameplay/difficulty. I'm sure this wont be the case with all games but I would still not be too happy if it is only the minority of games that offer deep gameplay.

You dumped it because of the graphics, you know quite well that most consoles take a few months to get rolling on titles, especially if you claim to be a "Hardcore" gamer, so no you didn't give it a chance, I agree with LosDaddie, you sound like a Fakeboy

Read what I write for christ sake. I said zelda looked good, I couldnt finish it because it wasnt challenging and it got boring since there was no sense of accomplishment, and I got all the way to sky temple which from my understanding is the final leg of the game.

Just say that you want a high-end console with hardcore games. Obviously, you spend most of your free-time gaming and not socializing with your peers.

Therefore, the Wii is not for you.

All you need is 7-8 hours, and heres a hint for the future. Adults eat when they hang out. They go out to restaurants, bars, etc...and in the process eat and hang out.

im the realest hardcore gamer there is. i still freaking play the original GB games, and enjoy it. i like looking at fancy graphics, but i know what gaming is all about, and it isnt all about fancy graphics. my eyes still pop out when i see graphics on the N64. hardcore games are gamers who can play and injoy any good game, no matter how the graphics are. to me hardcore games are definily gamers who grew up with the gaming industry.

Dr_DudeMan

Nintendo needs to evolve into a better company. I'm sick of hearing statements like "good graphics don't make a good game". I agree with that statement; however, this is next gen! It's time to step it up a notch. Come on Nintendo! Get it together!

Read what I write for christ sake. I said zelda looked good, I couldnt finish it because it wasnt challenging and it got boring since there was no sense of accomplishment, and I got all the way to sky temple which from my understanding is the final leg of the game.Dr_DudeMan
What sense of accomplishment do you get from other adventure games? Do prizes fly out of the consoles or something? You don't like Mida or the new weapons? How was TP as disservice to hardcore gamers then? What game services the "hardcore"? Your idea of hardcore gamer is off.

EDIT: Sorry I didnt read the whole of your first post. I thought you were just another "nintendo is killing the industry" people.

I like the idea of the wiimote, but I would also like if simple controls didnt mean that we will have to put up with simple gameplay/difficulty. I'm sure this wont be the case with all games but I would still not be too happy if it is only the minority of games that offer deep gameplay.

donaldo1989
Thank you for the thoughtful not flaming post...I mean I have owned every nintendo console ever. But, starting with the GC games just kept getting easier and easier, and it seems like the trend is continuing, which is why for the first time I opted to get rid of my Nintendo system.

Wait, what?

You dumped it because of the graphics, you know quite well that most consoles take a few months to get rolling on titles, especially if you claim to be a "Hardcore" gamer, so no you didn't give it a chance, I agree with LosDaddie, you sound like a Fakeboy

I DID NOT DUMP IT BECAUSE OF GRAPHICS, I DUMPED IT FOR MANY OTHER REASONS I LISTED...bad online support, easy games, bad art/same old art, lack of longetivity for the games....buh buh buh apparently the sheep seem to skip all these other things I listed.

Do me a favor, never work in the video game industry. Thanks.

In fact, don't ever work in anything that requires creativity or vision.

[QUOTE="Dr_DudeMan"][QUOTE="axt113"][QUOTE="Dr_DudeMan"][QUOTE="axt113"][QUOTE="Dr_DudeMan"][QUOTE="Ontain"]I have an HDTV and a Surround sound system. I've played red steel and thought it was pretty fun. they just needed a lot more fine tuning on bugs, ai and story. but it did keep in glued to my couch for a few hours at a time.axt113

You camped out for a game console for two days, that says no social life, you are defintely lying about one or the other

Yeah because 2 days are a huge strain on my social life, especially when I had 3 friends camping with me. Totally not possible to camp and be social, dang what was i thinking? Think before you post please, and please dont post off topic, all this social life stuff is cracking me up. You can't live in Chicago/New York and not have a social life, sorry.

Ofcourse graphix count for something or else they wouldn't be video games. A standard game now looks 10x better than previous generations which is more than enough to get the point across. These are games we are playing right.

[QUOTE="Dr_DudeMan"][QUOTE="Coldplay07"]Being a graphics whore does NOT make you a "hardcore gamer" it simply makes you a graphics whore that is probably into tech more than anything. No those are the manga reading, retro-gaming, hermit-like geeks. Hardcore gamers are the techsavy competative gamers who dont play games to reminice on their childhoods.

Those are Tech-head elitist gamers that you talking about. Hardcore gamers have been playing games since their childhood and continue to do so with no affiliations or insecurites about the size of the Television Sets.

I smell fakeboy here.

He claimed to have camped out for TWO DAYS (I camped out for 12hrs for my Wii) and after two months, he trades in his Wii?

Yeah....fakeboy indeed.

LosDaddie

Its been 3 months noob, and I didnt trade it in, I sold if for more then I payed for it.

Either way, I still don't believe you.

Just say that you want a high-end console with hardcore games. Obviously, you spend most of your free-time gaming and not socializing with your peers.

Therefore, the Wii is not for you.

My peers own 360's and we have gears lan parties once in a while, but what does that have to do with the anything regarding this post? PLEASE STAY ON TOPIC PEOPLE!

[QUOTE="coolviper2003"][QUOTE="OMGTEHGRUKWTF"][QUOTE="axt113"]Sorry dude, Hardcore is a small segment of the market, there will still be games for them, but the blue ocean strategy of Nintendo is about much more, as for grpahics, if you can't stand SD level graphics then I feel sorry for you LosDaddie

Yes it does, think about it. And I suppose this does "SD is 640x480. The polygons are as big as boulders."?

I loved Ninja Gaiden and the Prince of Persia games for the most part. I loved RE also. I've been a fan of Zelda for the longest time also. Zelda TP wasn't that difficult other than the puzzles, but it was epic in it's scope and the creativity of the dungeons and weapons/boss fights was incredible. Still don't understand how someone could be turned off by it.

Fine, as to your topic, you asked maybe a week ago if you should trade a Wii for a PS3? How did you then happen to retroactively trade them several months ago? Is this topic fake? Or the previous one?

And again the main part of your post was in reference to the graphics, as for your other reasons they are foolish as well, you knew what type of online was going to be on the Wii beforehand, and you knew that the game library would take some time to get off the ground, more and more you prove that you are a fakeboy, because none of these issues were top secret before the launch
