Think nintendo doesn't care about real gamers like you anymore? Maybe they've seen the low sales numbers of games like Zelda TP and MP3, and the high sales numbers of games like Wii fit or Wii play, and realized that the real money lies in casual games? Maybe E3 has espially down gotten nintendo fans down?

Well, don't sweat it. According to nintendo, E3 is not where they show off games for the hardcore. And it makes sense to primarily show off casual games at E3 because E3 is the one and only video game event that gets coverage from the mainstream new.

As Miyamoto said in an article today:

"I think that there's probably one other element to it, and that's that our view of how we use E3 has changed. For a very long time, E3 was an event where — and certainly Nintendo included — catered specifically to the core gamer. Now we look at more … an opportunity for us to introduce new concepts and new types of play that we intend to bring to the broader audience, particularly because of the media that gathers at E3 now.

So while attending an E3 event like this, they might be given the impression that Nintendo is no longer focusing on the games that appeal to the core gamer, in fact we're still working on many of those titles, but it's just not the type of event where we'll be showcasing that anymore."

Twilight Princess sold very well... Better than Wind Waker or Majora's Mask, in fact. Otherwise, carry on.

Yes, it has sold like 4 or 5 Million now and Metroid Prime 3 has sold like 2 or 3 million.

As a hardcore Nintendo fan, I wasn't quite "pleased" with Nintendo's conference yet I'm satisfied because they at least showed Animal Crossing, confirmed Pikmin 3 and hinted on Super Mario Galaxy 2.

And which games have? None. Who cares if other games are selling better? Nintendo is still making boatloads of money off their core franchises, which means they'll all be around for years to come. WiiMusic doesn't bother me as long as they keep making Pikmin and Zelda (which they are).

I'm glad that there will be tons more Zeldas and Marios, what I'm most worried about is my favorite Nintendo franchise of all, Metroid. It doesn't sell anywhere close to Mario, Zelda numbers, coupled with the fact that Retro is moving on to new things and the Prime trilogy is finished.

You completely misunderstood my point, and managed to make yourself look childish in the process. You said that those games didn't outsell the Wii___ games, and I asked "which have"?, meaning that you can't judge a game's success by how it compares to the very best-selling games of this generation. It's like calling Gears of War a failure because it didn't outsell Halo 3. It's ridiculous.

You guys are missing the point of this thread. The point is: I don't want ANYONE insulting sheep about how lame nintendo's e3 was (cept for that I drumber at the end of the conference, I as a sheep accept ownage for that). Nintendo wasn't at e3 for the hardcore. Expect nintendo to make big (official) announcements and show trailers for games like Pikmin, Zelda, and Kid Icarus at either another convention or on their own.

Nintendo's weak showing at e3 is irrelevant to SW.

I'm unhappy about that, too. But we will still see Zeldas and Marios in the future, they'll just unfortunately become fewer and farther in between. Really bugs me, but at least we'll still get something.

Read this interview with Reggie, people do have a reason to be upset. He really got me hyped for e3 with comments like this:

WOW u call me a child for missunderstanding the very bland statement "WHICH HAD???" That statement could have meant almost anything in the context YOU used it!

OF COURSE NOW you explain what you meant by it and NOW you call me out on miss-reading it!!!

And your obviously in DENIAL as a FANBOY!!! ALL im saying is that the wii is gonna get more casual games as a result of their great sales, and you immediatly start ranting about a bunch of core games trying to defend them FROM absolutly nothing!!

First of all, you're the one "ranting". I'm not the one misspelling words, writing in capital letters, and misusing words altogether. Second, I'm not in denial about anything. I recognize the fact that Nintendo is branching out to a new audience. But that doesn't mean that the games that have made me a fan are going do disappear, which is evidenced by the fact that a new Zelda and Pikmin were confirmed just yesterday.

Alright...good for you I guess. I will be playing Soul Caliber IV soon, have fun waiting.

What are you arguing about if you acknowledge the fact that Nintendo's core franchises aren't going anywhere? How is it supposed to affect me if Nintendo released WiiSports 2 and Zelda, as opposed to just Zelda? If WiiSports 2 doesn't interest me, I won't buy it. No skin off my back. And it's up to you to get your point across in a coherent manner. If you can't even do that, how am I supposed to take you seriously?

Well, if it makes you feel any better, Pikmin didnt pull huge numbers, but they're bringing that back. Fire Emblem doesnt set the world on fire (no pun intended) and that keeps coming back. Basically, what I'm saying (in a round-about way) is that Metriod, being an A list franchise unlike the others I mentioned, is probably safe.

In regards to Miyamoto's topic, I figured that was the case, so it's nice to get it from the source. I doubt that will stop anything though. Nintendo's been turned into internet enemy no. 1, and I dont see that changing soon.

i think... that nintendo still does care about their good ol' c1assic franchises, just they were using E3 for well, the media and generally as publicity instead of showing off all their neat games for the future

every other word of their e3 presentation was some sales figure for something that's got nintendo written on it

that's why they lost, they only showed 2 or 3 terrible games.

Mario Galaxy, Brawl, and Mario Kart sold like hot cakes....air_wolf_cubed

exactly .. and now they've announced that a new mario, new zelda and others like a new pikmin are in the works

they just weren't in a state to be shown yet

E3 was pretty bad this year IMO .. maybe nintendo realised this before everyone else and are waiting for a different venue to showcase their hardcore titles

a dream scenario would be if nintendo decided to do another spaceworld like they used to, and show off traditional games .. that'd easily make up for their bad E3 press conference IMO
