But no Sam Lake :(. But I'm willing to try the game out because it doesn't look bad and it is being developed by Rockstar.i mean

signature film noir -style..... nope
e: i'm not saying it will be crap, but it sure doesn't look like Max Payne to me. wouldn't have even recognized it without the theme music.
Unfortunately I never got around to playing the first two. It's still a Rockstar game so I'll still probably get it.

maybe, maybe, but it should be MAX PAYNE like. dark and gritty. film noir. not this bs.
anyway, despite the atmosphere, i AM going to play this. even that i'm a little worried that it's made by R* (not that R* would suck, but Remedy did awesome job with the previous ones). i hope the action scenes are as replayable as they were in the previous games. oh, so much fun...
Because it is not Max Payne. It just shares the name.
Bullettime combat? Gone, replaced with cover based shooting.
Protagonist? Now with 99% less hair. Just like most modern game protagonists.
Original Developers? Gone. Now with Rockstar, creators of sleeping pills like GTA4 and RDR.
Film Noir? Nope.
And there's your problem. It's difficult to emulate the tone and style resulting from the collaborative effort of an entirely different group of people on the other side of the planet. Especially when you've developed a style of your own.i mean

The music is taken straight out of Max Payne 2 and all it does is make it even more evident that this is not that. It'll probably play and sound like a sequel to it, but it won't look or feel like it.
Excited to see Euphoria in this game though.

it looks like from the trailer that it will have bullettime. i mean, it's "the thing" of Max Payne (along with film noir, wich actually is gone.)
Max Payne 2 came out eight years ago. I'm willing to bet many of the gamers of today don't even know what Max Payne is or may not remember. Personally while I was aware of the series I've never actually played it. So I don't care right now. Maybe later if the new one turns out good.vashkey
Or they only know that horrible Markie Mark movie. I, for the record, didn't even know they were making a third one.
Max Payne - Looks more like Kane & Lynch to me. If it wasn't for the music and the same voice actor I never would have known it's Max Payne.
Rockstar - The first two were developed by Remedy Entertainment, not Rockstar
Immersive world - Max Payne is supposed to be a dark noir suburban story, not some random Bruce Willis tropic shooter

I believe it will, but this time it will be different because of the cover-based shooting. In the original games you went into a room, and killed everybody in style :Pi trust rockstar to make good games.slvrraven9I don't. They haven't made one I've enjoyed since Vice City.
ofcourse i would have preferred the more film noire feel but the trailer does show max has moved on ... i can handle the hair loss and weight gain as u could call it charicter development its not REMEDY... but am willing to give R* a chance.... need to see how it playsFreshPrinceUk
Remedy suck now, Alan wake was garbage because they were happy to destroy everything originally good about the game in favour of getting it to work on Xbox 360
good thing it flopped, either way, MP ended after 2, if Sam lake doesnt write it, its not canon
It looks great, the trailer doesn't say much but it really has the feel of the other two games. It was a excellent choice putting the music from the first and second game, it fits perfect.
.
Of couse, people will use the "__________ is not ________ anymore" formula for this game, but this is what you can expect from short-sighted people.
.
Anyway, I'm 100% happy what I saw.

Yep, people are short sighted and they should stick to your opinions. :|

Well yes, games evolve. But they are entitled to their opinion, not fair to call them short sighted just because they have different point of view. :)
I am still trying to finish Red Dead. It gets very boring at times.
As for Max Payne, i don't expect much. The second one wasn't that great, and latest rockstar games have all been the same. They should show gameplay instead, just to make sure it isn't exactly like their last games.

I share the same feelings.
Max Payne 1&2 are two of my favourite ever games. The music(which didn't seem to fit right into that trailer), the voice actor and the label Max Payne is all it seems to be. My opinion hasn't changed since bald Max Payne was first revealed. I don't understand the decisions and direction its taken so I will just wait and see. I'm not hugely excited anymore.
It doesn't feel like Max Payne and it doesn't feel right.
On a more serious note, It's just people act as if things couldn't change, as if a game has to fallow the exact same formula forever. And that just not how it is.padaporraChanging everything, including the formula alters the entire "feel" of a game. Slapping a recognizable IP on something entirely different from what it was originally doesn't make it a good thing. The first two Max Payne games are incredibly hard to improve on, especially in terms of atmosphere and story-telling. But completely changing everything and using the IP to sell basically a totally different game? Despicable. It would be like turning Zelda into a shooter. Sure, it would LOOK like Zelda, but it isn't Zelda.

Rockstar has this bad habit of sort of announcing a game, then when everyone forgets they announce it again, then everyone is all "yeah it looks ok" then it comes out and its MIND BLOWINGLY FUN AND UNIQUE.
The GTA games are the only ones that don't follow this formula simply because they're too well known for Rockstar to sneak them past us, but with Bully, LA Noire, Red Dead Redemption, Agent and this it tends to happen an awful lot with them.
