I wonder that also. No hype, great reviews, decent sales, and sequel to the biggest PC franchise ever and no talk... Odd...enterawesome
It doesn't really matter if it's the sims or starcraft, as long as it's not Crysis, or some other graphics leaders in the future, system wars won't care.
It's another Sims game nothing personal against those who actually like to play the things, my nieces in middle and high school love tp play sims games.

Basically because there's nothing to bag about it, it got an AAAE score, so it didn't flop and sold very very well. 1.4 million in one week at retail (and remember this is a PC game, so probably would have sold 2 million + if it wasn't for piracy),
Hyped AAAE, recieved praise, gamers win. If we were talking about it it'd likely be an issue. As it is perfect how it is not even a hardcore hermit wants to provoke a fight (over Sims 3 of all games).
I think it's because of the general consensus that The Sims is a "dollhouse" game, and that we should play our own Real Lives as opposed to virtual lives (well, at least according to the other hardcores). It's still pretty fun though, and I enjoyed this more than Sims 2 (despite the lack of content)
I plan on picking up two copies for me and my girl to play together once the price drops more.

cant you just install it on both comps? it has no drm.I have never played a sims game, but isn't it a multiplayer online game? If so, would it allow us to play together? I know any other game I tried to do that with wouldn't allow it.

I have to disagree. I was a fan of the first, hated the second and all the expansion packs for both, but this really brought the series back to a good position. Great game so far, really having fun with it.
Can someone tell me if the Mac version of the game is any good? Owning a mac for about 2 months now and I realize that gaming isn't a focus of this OS.

Instead of watching a pixel person clean his house I'd rather clean my own one. what? i was playing games when you were still on diapers and i think the sims 3 is a great game. plenty of others serious pc gamers enjoy the sims 3 as well.
Honestly, PC games only come up when people start arguing about the exclusivity of a 360/PC game or the random, once every so often thread of how much more awesome looking a PC game is than a console game.

You surely didn't play The Sims when I was on diapers because that was 29 years ago. So the game is probably not only appealing to schoolgirls and housewives but also to older people who like their games with a slower pace. I assume that you are at least 50. Otherwise your diapers comment would seem pretty ridiculous. My point still stands, I'd rather clean my own house than watch pixel persons clean theirs.

Nobody likes monotony in their games, true, but the point of the Sims is to push your characters to ridiculous extremes, rather than have them take out the garbage. Check out this as an example.

I guess if you play the game that way you may have a point. I fortunately don't play the game that way. The Sims series is more than cleaning the house, go to the bathroom, etc... It is also a creative tool that allows you to tell a story through pictures or making movies with the in-game movie editor.
You can make anything from a music video, to a scary movie and anything in between. You can also create custom content and mods to further enhance your experience. The Sims series is a great tool for people to express themselves creatively.
It's not an action game, it's not a console game, it's not a graphics king candidate, it doesn't have a comparable game on another platform it could "own", and it didn't even flop. What's there to talk about?
Well it's because hermits generally don't hype much . On the other hand if it had been only on the ps3 you would have seen threads like : 1. Best causal game ever 2. Best third games in a franchise ever 3. Best game beginning with S ever 4. Best EA games every 5. Best non hyped game ever

But The Sims 3 added alot of things that where not in the Sims 2. The Sims 3 got AAAE so stop damage controling.
