Define "meaningful"......... >.> ...... because I consider Dragon Quest: Swords and Final Fantasy: Crystal Cronicals 2 a great start for Sqaure Enix in their Wii support. There will surely be more to come.Wii outsells PS3 in Japan by a margin of 7:1.

Sorry, I'm a big Nintendo fan, but compared to a real FF title, Crystal Chronicles is garbage.
And a Dragon Quest spinoff isn't much to talk about, either.
How about a game that looks like actual creative and artistic effort is being put into it?
Because the hardware is so limiting.shsonline
Im sure they are done wanting to make games with the graphic and physic capabilites of a gamecube/xbox

Why should a company support a console that is over three years obsolete and has explicitly limited the functionality of gaming?

And i'm very sure they are prepared to develop for a console that is losing, right?
Yet they would wanna put it on a console where the MASS majority is casual gamers? It's buisness suicide. Even nintendo pres himself said the reason zelda didn't sell great on it is it doesn't appeal to casual gamers.
Now you want them to dumb down the hell out of final fantasy? Seems like wii fans are all for destroying gaming

Because they'll make money.
Or, Panda, do you think that Square Enix wants to suffer financially for the benefit of the advancement of gaming?
I really would like to know whether the Square Enix board has been taken over by ascetics.

Thanks for putting words into my mouth.
Who the hell ever said they'd dumb it down?!
Guys this is not that difficult to understand. As a top of the line developer, with a tradition of graphically intense games on consoles, you want an opportunity to dazzle people in the next gen. Sure, Square will make their GC port/rendition of a CC game, but theres a certain excitement and challenge for a developer in pushing the technical limits of the latest hardware. Wii just doesn't present that appeal to certain developers.shsonline
I agree it is limited with it's hardware, but that doesn't mean they can't create and develop unique games for it.

What makes you think they will make money? On a casual console? How do you think halo 3 would sell on the wii compared to 360? MGS4 compared to the ps3? You are forgetting it is a CASUAL console. I'd be suprised if ffxiii could even sell 1 million copies on the wii even if it had a 10 million userbase. Its all about the market it represents. Just like halo on the xbox last gen. It sold 7 million compared to games on the ps2 with 5 times the userbase that couldnt sell as much.
We understand you have a wii, possibly even a gamecube in the past but use logical buisness standards, not fanboyish remarks

You're talking about a company that rarely takes "chances" and messes with tradition. SE is a company with a business philosphy that basically says "don't screw with the formula". They aren't going to try and develop a completely unique game just to cater to the wii. Or if they do, they surely won't throw a bunch of money behind it and make it a high risk.

You said they would make money. If they wanted to they would have to dumb it down for casuals. Its not putting words in your mouth, its exactly how they would make money and that was your argument, therefore it is what you are saying.
if they didnt make it appealing to the casuals, it would have horrible sales seeing as its a casual console
Zelda isn't a casual game.
It sold 3.5 million+ on Wii.
Square could make a frakking Zelda clone, for all I care.

*points at FF12*
You were saying?
Sure, the formula was the same, but they redesigned the battles.
And also, just a quick question, would you rather they develop for the ps3, lose a lot of money if it continues to sell like this and possibly lose money, or develop for a console that is selling like crazy and be able to sit back and not worry?
Square has always backed the system that will provide the best audio/video output, thats why they made games for the SNES instead of the playstation until Nintendo rejected their worth. When Square discovered the capabilities of MIDI files, FFVII was born. Then when the PS2 was the only system with Dolby Digital 5.1, Square backed that too. Now the PS3 has HDMI 1.3, which features better audio support than HDMI 1.2 of the Elite, and allows for sequences to be downloaded so that consumers don't have to wait long to switch between cutscenes (which is how they handled their PC ports).
Enix, on the other hand, has always set its principle of giving the Japanese public what it wants. Thats why Dragon Quest 7 is the greatest selling non-Nintendo game ever produced in the country. It's also why Dragon Quest 9 is on the DS, its simply a matter of public opinion where the biggest numbers win. But rest assured, Enix is the owner of a lot of terrific franchises whereas Square only updates three of their titles (FF, Mana, KH).
So the sheer number of fans asking for titles on the Wii will surely cause Square-Enix to announce bountiful games exclusively on the Wii. Nintendo fans just have to tell their Japanese brethern to buy more Wii. For the moment though, expect a lot more titles to appear on the DS until the Wii shortage can be addressed (granted, there is a DS shortage in Japan)

Sorry to dissapoint again but they took that from FF11, which was far from a huge success compared to other mmpog's. Thats what the get for making a game with the pc in mind in the very beginning. they took characteristics from FF11 and put them into 12 though.

spi it however you want. Ive seen multiple ones being traded and wii's aLL over craigs list. people saying how the effect wore off and how dull its become. The gimmick is wearing off of the older crowd for the most part with all that i've seen. Imagine in a year when graphics get better and better for the ps3/360. What about the wii? It seriously can't get much better at all. Stuck with last gen graphics and physics. You seriously think it will sell this well for 4 years while the others progress tremendously?

1. Please tell me where people are trading wiis in so I can buy one and sell it on ebay!
2.Nin said from the beggining that they wouldnt give up on Hardcores. do you think casuals are the only ones with a wii?
3.Zelda sold over 3 million on the wii the Gc version only sodl between 600,000 ans 1 mill of those %80 of all wii owners bought zelda
The wii is noe the home of hardcore sheep and casuals!
4. If the wii passes the 360 in the next few months square would be very foolish to not get games going for it!

Same here. The only reason im interested in the PS3 really is for FF 13, and The possibility Kingdom Hearts 3.
