Why not remake FF7?

I don't understand why this wouldn't be done. It would instantly sell millions with no effort whatsoever. Not only would it pull in millions of new gamers who were too young to enjoy it the first time around but it would pull in those of us who loved it the first time around and would love to see it updated with today's technology.

It would be an instant cash cow for Squenix and since a lot of the work is already done (the story, music, battle systems and whatnot...the only thing that would need to be done is the programming) it wouldn't take nearly as long as most games do nowadays.

Just think of the possibilities. It already has an amazing story but combine that story with today's technological presentation and the money rolls into Squenix.

Because FF7 was the worst game Ninty offered generations and a FFX remake would me much better. Also, the graphics would suck because Wii is extremely weak and we all know today graphics matter the most.

Where you playing the game as i was? cloud is a terrific character, the story was inriching. for me the game was flawless, recently ive been playing the classic FF games and this game still gets me everytime, seprioth is the greatest villian in an jrpg..and i'm not in the 95% bracket who's FFVII was my first jrpg, Star ocean the second story was:P

One of the first games I remember playing was Dragon Warrior (Quest) and FF on the NES so come again? It's so bad that it did really well in terms of industry wide scores, OK. You clearly know nothing about me as a gamer.

The story was the best aspect of the experience, but it doesn't make up for the terrible gameplay.

im with the "FF7 is awesome" crowd. i've played them all and i started with FF1. i remember reading in my nintendo power that FF2 (ff4 in japan) was coming to snes and i almost wet myself. my faves were 1,4,6 and 7. 10 and 12 were good, just not great and didn't live up to the name final fantasy imo. 3,5 and 8 were ok but not awesome and 9 was ok but it seemed to be missing something.

all in all, i don't think FF7 should be remade, at least not right now. besides im still enjoying playing it on the ps1. i think most of the haters grew up with ps2 games and look at it and go "oh the graphics suck so the game must be horrible too" as for the storyline, it was awesome. if you don't understand it then thats your flaw and nobody elses. battles were epic and the music is great, materia system was incredibly innovative and theres just TONS of hidden stuff that you didnt have to spend hundreds of hours farming something to get.

Yeah all of this is way to subjective for me(from best to worst) FF VI,VIII,VII,X,XII,V,IV,IX,X-2,III,II,I.

The game just can't hold up to today's standards. Try comparing Valkria Chronicles to Final Fantasy VII.

I was mainly talking about story than gameplay. The main reason VII gets so much attention is because of its supposedly amazing story.

Correct me if im wrong but If they made a FFVII remake wouldn't it be exclusive to the PS3 since Sony published FFVII ?

If so then maybe square is waiting for the PS3 install base to increase before they release it in order to maximize profit

Sony only published the game in the USA and europe,Squaresoft published the game in japan, Also you have to take in account that there was a FFVII port on the PC n 1998 by edios.
