Ok... will tell you why Onlive isn't going to suceed in the USA...

The biggest reason isn't lag, or graphics, or anything like that.

The biggest reason Onlive will fail is due to greedy isp corps and their bandwidth caps.

Where I live (Philadelphia Area) Comcast cable started imposing a 250gb cap per month on all people with "unlimited" interent. These fools dont even tell you about the cap, you have to look in the fine print. Yet that cap wasn't in place when I got my service more then 5 years ago.

You may say 250gb is a lot, but you are wrong. What If I got a new console and have to re-download all my content from PSN? I have over 200gb worth of stuff on my 320gb hard-drive.. Lets say 120gb is download stuff i have to redownload.. Then toss in HD movies some going up to 5gb per movie or game demos. Hell internet, streaming movies etc... All that takes a lot of bandwidth. Now couple in Onlive. A service that you would use whenever you game, eating up 10's of GBytes per day!!! Now picuture you do all these things on your internet line. Add in the rest of your family if you have one. And bam your over the 250gb limit. Then all of the sudden you banned from your isp for a year... no onlive..no online no nothing...

This data usage bs is continuing to influx into every major isp across the country. It is very bad for a gamer.. And someone who uses a online streaming service like onlive that streams 2-10+ gb per game... is going to hit the cap in no time.

I think This should be renamed why Digital distribution will be limited at least in the USA. The average internet here is like 4-6mb/s where as in Japan, Korea, Btter parts of Europe its 61, 50, 20 in the order of the countires. And those are jsut the averages. The problem is yes greedy coprs and also Our infrastructure is also not as good as South Korea or Japan in terms of Tech and broadband/fiberoptic connections. The average person could have a super rage connection where we have a super rage at teh screen connection. It sucks yeah, but it K cuz onlive is bad anyway, ive seen some screen shots of UT3 gameplay from onlive and it looks really really bad.

It'll probably get bought out by an ISP and then labelled a 'free zone' where used bandwidth won't be counted towards your quota for customers of that ISP.

No, OnLIVE is already in bed with the ISPs. Take a look at their website and the AT&T logos. Why would AT&T be involved? One, because OnLIVE wants to sell themselves. Steve Perlman wants to sell the company, period, his goal is to cash out as quickly as possible. He doesn't know if OnLIVE will work long term, he doesn't care, he wants the cash for the idea and boom, he's gone. ISPs want it for a second reason, so they can charge you at both ends. AT&T can charge you to access OnLIVE -and- nail you on the bandwidth it uses? Sweet.
