Why pay for xbox live?

because look at it. ps3's marketplace is free but look at the selection. lke about 9 demos and a entire bunch of useless stuff. i mean why should they take much care into putting new stuff in sony's market place? its not like they are getting payed or anything. thats why xbox live rocks. paying for xbox live is kinda giving microsoft the will to keep making it so great. even though i hope theydont charge anymore

Would I like Xbox Live to be free? Of course.

Do I mind paying 4 bucks a month for such a great service? Not at all - it's well worth the money.

If 4 bucks a month is a dealbreaker and a big deal for some people then those people should really spend their money on something more important than the costly waste of time gaming in fact is. A new console + a handful of games each year = lots of money. 4 bucks more or less every month is really nothing in the grand scheme of things.

im missing 2000 kills in warzone that i would like to complete in execution

Grant it its only $50.00 a year but when your subscription runs out, the day you have to pay another $50.00 really sucks. Was going to get 360 headset this weekend but now i cant due to me having to buy a membership

I wish it could be free for those tight on money but XBL is still so freaking fun to play. One of the best purchases I ever had was getting the 1 yr prepaid card for XBL.

Online COD2, COD3 is so addictive for me personally.

I mean PSN is free but I heard MGS3 servers are down cause the devs aren't gonna pay for it when a new game is coming out most likely meanwhile Halo 2 will still be playable even after Halo 3 is out and when Halo wars is out even

50 dollar x 5 years = 250 dollars.

With that kind of money, you can buy a wii. No charge for online, the last time I checked.

So that being said, when you total the "ACTUAL" cost of owning a 360 for 5 yrs (if it last that long. Lets not even talk about the MUST-HAVE warranty issue), you MUST include the $250 dollars into the total cost so it is in the range of $550 to $750

When the Playstation Network offers as many demos, games and a 24 hour reliable service as Xbox Live does and at the speeds of Xbox Live then it will be equal. Only then will I question why I am paying fifty a year for Xbox Live. For example while the Playstation Network has Mortal Kombat 2 the Xbox 360 has Castlevania SOTN. Also have you ever tried downloading a file on the Playstation Network? I downloaded the Shivering Isles (1gb) over Xbox Live and it took only ten minutes. I downloaded Mortal Kombat 2 (200 and something mb) over the Playstation Network and it took almost an hour. That is where your gap is, you are paying for a more reliable, faster service.

The Playstation Network is like getting free heathcare from the state while Xbox Live is like a major health insurence company like Blue Cross or Etna.
