Don't take me wrong, but I've tried many sonic games and I've liked only one, and it was sonic adventure 2 on the dreamcast. Then it was for the gamecube and it wasn't that good, and then other games started coming out, like sonic heroes, which I personally didn't like and then shadow the hedgehog, which I thought was horrible. Still, lots of people love sonic games. Some classic games are fun, but I personally didn't like them, since I prefer mario games.

Can anyone tell me why they love sonic? Maybe if I played the classic games for a while, I could like them, but I still don't know.

PS: I am not insulting sonic and I am not a mario fanboy, I just don't understand why people love sonic.

I tried sonic heroes and it wasn't that bad, but it was bad, or well, I didn't like it. Sure, the camera wasn't as bad as it was in shadow the hedgehog or in the 360 version, but heck, it still was kinda hard to get into the game for me.

Its the memories of the past sonic games, Genesis was one of the greatest systems of all time containing the 4 best sonics. Sonic is all but dead now, but his memories and his past are still out there.

I liked the Sonic Cartoon back in the day. Not the one that was all cheesy, the darker one on ABC. Too bad they never released the 3rd season, season 2 was a cliffhanger.

None of the 3d ones SUCK, some are a bit mediocre though. Both adventures were good, but the second was worse because of the introduction of shadow. Heroes... I got nothing ,I hated it. The 360 and ps3 sonic games sucked... but the wii one was pretty good.

Basically all the sega genesis and sega CD Sonic games and Sonic Adventure 1&2 for the DC where great games, everything after that sucked.. I'm not sure about the GBA games or any of the handheld Sonic games, but from what I've seen from the animations and sprites of Sonic Rush Adventure, it looks lackluster compared to the Genesis animations and sprites but the gameplay looks good for a Sonic game.

It's like asking why is the sky blue?

He was an anti-hero to those gamers who refused to buy in to the blue overalls at Nintendo. He led the charge of more mature, challenging gaming that Sega pioneered throughout the early 90s. His waving finger and smirk are world renowed, god damn I get giddy every time I see it.

Now do you understand?

Meh, I had few problems with the wii version. The GBA versions for some reason didn't seem all that well made and they kept releasing more characters...

Sonic rush, by the way, is the best sonic game released in years, except for the fact that they added yet another worthless character it was GREAT!

Sonic is more like an interactive cutscene than a game. I've played several games and all you had to do is push on the analogue stick. Is there something I'm missing?

From the day one, Sonic was a lousy game with excellent graphics and phenomenal music. It never deserved the attention it got, because its strengths were mostly presentational; its game play was always a distant second to what we found in the core Mario games. Yeah, I said it.

I'm probably one of the biggest Sonic fanboys on these boards ( Though I always loved Mario aswell ), and I have no idea how to answer your question. I guess he was just the star of the right games at the right time for me and a lot of other people.

I like Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. Versus and Chao system Expansion for the win. The Chao should be given they're own game. With more evolutions, and more interactive ways to compete, I could raise those lil' buggers forever.....

The old sonic games rocked out loud.  I can;t see how anyone but HUGE fans of Sonic can enjoy the new ones.  I played that new one for Wii, and it was so horrible I...forgot what it was called.

I don't agree with your comment about Sonic and the Secret Rings, it has much better controls than other 3D SOnic games which is further helped the game is not free roaming. The 2D Sonic games are great and that includes Sonic Rush on the DS.

The sonic love comes from the Genesis and Game Gear titles which were with the exception of 3D blast all awesome. If you never played them back when the Genesis was still around you simply would not be able to understand I'm afraid.

Sonic's downfall is the most unfortunate trend that has ever happened to a franchise. :(

It's only his newer, 3D games that didn't go too well.

I really like the old sonic games because it was about speed. You tried to get to the end of the level as fast as you could and with the least interruptions. The levels were fairly open with chances to take multiple paths. The games also had great sound tracks. WHAT WENT WRONG SEGA?!?!?!?!

Sonic has been shamed over the past few years. I called it from day one: Sonic will never be the same as he was on the Sega consoles. Sure enough, it happened. It doesn't matter that Sonic is no longer on top, he had posters, comic books, numerous animated series', and shared the spotlight with Mario over the course of an entire generation. He was featured in several great games and with some work by Sega, could be featured in many more.

But what I love most of all, more than anything, is that despite the industry's massive growth and general erection for shooters, none of the titles and franchises you hold so dear can hold a candle to him. Not in sales. Not in notoriety. Not in anything. They're flashes in the pan, Sonic is an icon going through rough times. Learn to tell the difference, and most of all, learn who's higher on the gaming food chain.

The GBA titles are certainly ****c sonic (at least the first one, can't speak for the rest) but aren't as cool as the Genesis titles, mainly because the screen is too small and certain things in the Genesis titles aren't present at all in them (it at least).

Don't pretend like your uber hardcore old school gamer dude and if you do, you may want to pick a better game than Sonic to rely on.

All the Sonic Advance games pretty much kill those, especially if you have a GBA player. So does Sonic Rush.

Rush has the best music EVER, by the way.

And I've been gaming since 1991, so don't give me that, "before your time," crap.

I played the old Genesis games and they were awesome. I played the 2 Sonic Adventure games on the Gamcube (never owned a Dreamcast) and they were ok. Sonic Heroes, Sonic Rush, and Shadow the Hedgehog were ok. Sonic the Hedgehog for the 360 (yes I played it) was awful. I still like Sonic because of his old games.

Sonic on the SEGA Genesis are the best. Sonic Spinball is poor and Sonic 3D as well. There will never be a good Sonic game that were on the SEGA Genesis and Sonic will always be popular but I think the games have gotten worse apart from Sonic Secret Of The Rings which was okay but nothing special and Sonic Rush.
