why ps3 will lose

a console cant ride on power alone. lets look back at the xbox and ps2 shall we?

since power is so important im sure all current ps3 owners had xbox's last gen.

games for ps2-loads

games for xbox-like 6 or 7 good ones.

ps2 came out same price as xbox and half as powerful but still won. why? games. and a year head start. now that ps3 is in same situation as 360 but cost a lot more and less games and not nearly as big of a power difference......what makes you think the ps3 will win? wii is kicking both their butts cause they have party games. people always want to try new things so they got wii's to show off to their friends. price really isnt as big of a deal as everyone makes it out to be. most people who buy videogames are middle class and will easily drop a couple hundred on a system to shut their kids up or play themselves. right now halo3 just came out and kids in every highschool and middleschool are talking about how awesome it is and convincing people to get xbox's or sign up for live. halo and gta are the only games people can really talk about at school without feeling nerdy. and ps3 lost gta. along with the downloadble movie service and all that people wanting to act cool which is 90% of school will get one cause its not "nerdy" anymore. ive already seen it happening before i could only talk about games with 5 or 6 of my friends but now the whole school is in on halo3. this christmas 360 and wii will be crazy. ps3.......not so much.

Playstation 1 won because Nintendo and Sega both made drastic mistakes that left third parties with only one option. Sega's mistake was an unprepared surprise launch. Nintendo's mistake was to urinate all over third parties during the SNES era whilst giving Sony the blueprint for a successful console and then leaving them to it.

Playstation 2 won largely because of the fact that it was a cheap DVD player against Sega with no money, new to the scene Microsoft, and a lackluster Nintendo console.

This time the competition is much fiercer, and Sony are going to have their work cut out for them.

sony first party is still here no. wii will fade no question about it because once both 360 and ps 3 go down to that price who will by a last gen system when you can buy a next gen system that does alot more than just play games for 299 or 199.

plus the ps 3 once it is 399 you will see how much sony user base is. most casuals that bout a ps2 120 million or so now nows how good sony first party is plus even if on the 360 like gta 4 or devil may cry ect. it does not matter because they can play these games plus there first party exclusives. why buy a 360 halo is the only great first party game when you can buy a mutiplat system that will always have the most exclusives. yes sony in the end will have the largest first party titles considering they have more than both company put together.

yes i now this subject has been beeten by a stick but if microsoft never fixes the failure rate it will affect them in the future because three years does not last forever.

in the end sony will have the most AAA exclusives because they have more of a chance at this because it has the largest first party. why play on a deffective console that has such little first party and if ps 3 goes ahead in sales the third parties will decline there money on exclusives. buying third party exclusives is not going to win this gen. they need more than just games.

look at starsing, eye of judgement, eye denity, little big planet ect, those are so inovated. all microsoft has giving us is a service for the first time you need to pay for it.

Combine this with the topic creator and that just about covers it except for a little in between the lines. For instance, The reason that PS2 had so many games was because of the huge userbase generated by the DVD player and carry over from PS1. The odd thing is is that even with Wii selling as well as it is, teams are still wary about Nintendo, where they would eat Sony up all day long during the last 2 gens.

power isnt everything

ps2 had alot of games that didn't have any multiplayer support at all. when there was multiplayer support it only had 2 players or you had to buy a expansion 4 your slots. most xbox and gamecube games had multiplayer support and xbox had a great online support.the ps2 became really popular cause everyone had a ps1 making tham buy a ps2 to support sony.
