I own a gaming PC, a 360, and a Wii. Each of them offers me something different. I'm a rather stingy gamer, in the sense that I mostly play AAA games, with the occational AA or less title. The reason is simple, at 23 years old, and having been gaming hardcore for the past 13+ years... it takes a lot more to impress me.
So, the meat of questions is. For me, why should I pay $500 for a PS3? Since essentially, the equation for me is:
cost per game = [ System + (cost per game) *number of quality games ] / number of quality games
For all you non-mathelites, the equation essentially means. How much are you paying per quality game, if you factor in the cost of the system.
When I look at this equation, I think to myself. If I bought a PS3, the only games that even mildly interested me is Ninga Gaiden sigma and Resistance. That means, at the moment, the cost per game is about $326. That is crazy.
To me, it seems like the PS3 won't be worth it for maybe another two years. In other words, when the system costs a lot less and it has more exclusive AAAs.
Note, that had I not had a PC and not had a Wii... the same situation would exist.
EDIT: Due to the lack of understanding, in regards to the direction of this post, I will clarify. This situation I have painted describes the situation many customers face. In essence, this is pretty much a rhetorical question.
