Why should I choose the NX over upgrading to the PS4K?

I will give you Nintendo fanboys a shot at convincing me to choose the NX over the PS4K.

Originally, I planned on selling my current PS4 and putting that money towards the PS4K, but maybe there is a chance I keep my PS4 and purchase the NX instead.

I realize we know jack all about the NX, but maybe you can still convince me to at least give the NX a second thought.

How is it a dumb question? I'm willing to bet that most existing PS4 owners interested in upgrading this year will choose the PS4K over the NX.

Also, it's not the same exact console.

Sorry, have zero interest gaming on a PC. I prefer consoles.

How about you ask this after a year both have been release and enjoy your current PS4 in the meantime?

Except all the speculation points to it being like the difference between an iPhone 5S and a 6. Same shit, slightly faster.

More games.. PS4 + NX >> PS4K for that alone

@emgesp: Of course it's the exact same console. It runs the exact same games and the exact same services. If you're going to be spending $400 again, you might as well get a new system capable of playing some new games you wouldn't otherwise get to play - even if those new games are only 6-8 in number - than rebuying the exact same system again. That's a remarkably dumb waste of funds.

But hey, it's your money. You can do with it what you want.

As Charizard previously stated you'd be spending $400+ on a console that plays the same games when you've already considered selling it. It has already been stated (also common knowledge in SW) that the PS4.5 will not have exclusives. It has been heavily implied that the NX will be an upgradeable console like the other two in the trio plan on doing so power isn't an issue, this is just speculation but more than likely that will be the case.

If this topic is about game exclusives we don't know jack and you obviously don't want an NX if you don't like first party Nintendo games, that's like the whole point of buying a Nintendo console is to play Nintendo games.

Well, I wouldn't technically be spending $400 again if I get the PS4K as I'd sell/trade-in my current PS4 to get around $150 towards the PS4K.

To play Super Super Mario NX of course....

I know I'd rather spend money on the console that's actually going to offer something different to what I already have... ie. NX.

Surely the only thing that will make you choose what to get is the games. If you like Nintendo games get an NX, if you like Playstation games stick with the ps4. Also it's also good to game on what ever console your friends have so you can play coop online etc.

Maybe I should have asked this post NX reveal, but I'm just trying to see if someone can convince me to give Nintendo a shot again after the original Wii.

If you're trading your PS4 in, then I could see sticking with a PS4K over an NX, yes- at least, until we know what the state of third party support on the NX will be like, at any rate.

@emgesp: thats how I feel about Sony. I have always had a Sony console paired with my PC, but after getting my WiiU I dont think I will bother with Sony again unless a game comes out I really feel like I can't live without playing. I grew up with Nintendo but stopped buying their consoles after the N64. To be honest I think the WiiU will be the last console I buy and from now on focus on building my Nes collection. But yeah man, Nintendo are awesome, if you switch hopefully you wont regret it, but if you can afford to get both then that's the way forward!

@emgesp: Well the NX is an actual, brand new console. The ps4k is just a suped up version of the ps4 with the exact same games and tech. Nintendo has more likeable exclusives, and best of all; it's an ACTUAL, BRAND NEW CONSOLE!

What's my real goal with this thread? I'm being sincere when I ask people to persuade me to give the NX a chance.

After the NX is announced/detailed I'll bump this thread and see if anyone can get me back on the Nintendo train again.

I haven't bought a Nintendo console since the 64. I really hope the NX is good because I'm so bored with the way Sony and Microsoft have been going. Why don't you wait until it actually comes out? If it's shit, leave it alone on the sidewalk. Sony made their move with the PS4K/PS4.5/Neo. Slap on the face for PS4 owners...unless developers have balls and tell Sony to shove it. Let's see what Nintendo brings to the table.

It's completely pointless to ask this now, and it'll probably still be pointless after the announcement since you'll counter any arguments like you are now. For example, the best case is that NX is significantly more powerful than PS4, but also noticeably weaker (say, the same as the difference between XB1 and PS4) than PS4k for the same or less money. It's unlikely that it matches PS4k, since Sony seems to be responding to something with this release. So, then the best argument becomes that with NX you get a new library of games and better graphics for third-party games (which is an argument you would counter by saying that it's not going to get good third-party support anyway based on history) while PS4k only gets you better graphics. Meanwhile, PS4k is effectively cheaper for you than NX and still offers better graphics than NX. Thus, at the end of the day, NX is only worth it if you want Nintendo games no matter what it is. IIRC you're also biased against it in general and want it to fail so Nintendo goes third-party (which isn't going to happen even if it flops). In other words, nobody here can convince you to buy it. That's all on Nintendo, and it's an uphill battle since you've already decided on a winner.

We are in a wait and see situation for all 3 console providers, as we don't even really know what Sony's machine will be like. These topics will be very interesting after E3.

I'm not countering any arguments. I was simply clarifying that I wasn't planning on keeping my existing PS4 if I upgrade to PS4K.

I've been on this forum almost as long as you have. While I have strong opinions towards certain companies I've never been accused of being a straight up troll for the 12 yrs I've been posting on these forums. Sure, I can come off kinda negative sometimes, but its just me being blatantly honest with my feelings. I've been gaming since the 80's, so I've experienced a lot of the highs and lows of this form of entertainment. I guess I just became more cynical through the years and some people just don't like that.

I got a ps4 and tbh why not get a NX? Assuming it's going to be more powerful than ps4. I bet it's going to be better than the ps4 4k as well. I think thats why xbox and sony are making better versions otherwise they would of done it back in 2013...obviously they are taking Nintendo seriously and people have to realize this is Nintendo's last shot...you really think there going to come up with a underpowered console? They know they will make their grave if they did that...

The NX being more powerful than the standard PS4 would definitely help get me interested in it.

Because the WiiU has a handful of games worth your time. Even at their lowest Nintendo can still put some good games out.

@casharmy: to be fair most pcgamers upgrade to be able to play the newest games, that is a non issue with ps4, so that kind of invalidates your argument...

This is a rather unfair time to ask this as we don't even know what the NX is, while the PS4K we know is the same as a PS4, but with better output.

If you are serious about this been an option for you, then wait like the rest of us for Nintendo to show it off, if you like what you see, go for it, if not upgrade.

The only thing I can really offer now is this. You know what games to expect on NX. Mario, Zelda, the typical Nintendo franchises, yet their are also a lot of rumors that Nintendo are working on more games for NX than they have for any other system, including some new IP's. Again, they are rumors, not confirmed, but they are all games you can't play on your PS4, while every game coming to the PS4K you can already play on PS4.

Not true at all, most upgrade to be able to maintain a certain level of performance with newer games.

I stated on a previous post that this might have been premature and I would bump this thread once the NX gets officially revealed.
